Ch13 - Commercial Guild
Chapter 13: Commercial Guild
The next day, Taichi finished creating the furniture for the living space as well.
Now, he could live comfortably. Since it was too much trouble to create all the small items, he went out to buy various things for the shop.
Luke wandered around the room and hummed thoughtfully.
“Well, it’s not bad, but it’s a bit cramped for someone as magnificent as me…”
“Ha ha, I’m glad you like it. Oh!”
“What’s wrong?”
“I think I forgot something important.”
Taichi took Luke downstairs from the living space’s second floor to the shop’s first floor.
“This is supposed to be a fluffy café, but there’s no sign for the shop!”
“Is that really necessary?”
“Of course, it is!”
They went outside to check the exterior. Since there was nothing on the door, Taichi quickly created a doorbell as well.
“Alright, this looks good.”
“I want the café to be a place where people can relax, so… [Creation (Physical)]”
Taichi visualized a sign in his mind and materialized it using his skill.
Soon, a sign appeared right in front of him. It was a charming sign featuring Luke as the motif.
The sign read, “Fluffy Café,” along with a description of a space for relaxation and healing, and an illustration of tea. This should clearly indicate that it’s a café.
The business hours were set from 11 AM to 5 PM.
“Since it’s a leisurely café, it definitely won’t be open for long hours!”
No overworking, absolutely.
Taichi was determined to create a white-collar work environment, contrary to his previous life.
“However, it wouldn’t be right to just start operating on my own. I need to visit the Commercial Guild. What about you, Luke?”
“Are you going to listen to a long explanation? I’ll be napping on the beanbag.”
“Got it. I’ll be right back.”
Leaving Luke behind, Taichi headed to the Commercial Guild.
It was as crowded as the Adventurers’ Guild, but the counters seemed to be well-organized, so people were moving through relatively smoothly.
Taichi went to the counter labeled “New Registration.”
“Welcome. How can I assist you?”
“Hello. I’m Taichi Arima from the Tamer Guild. I want to open a café where people can interact with familiars…”
“Familiars… meaning magical creatures?”
The receptionist tilted her head in confusion, though she accurately understood Taichi’s words.
(Damn… Does no one understand the brilliance of fluffiness…!!)
But now was the time to endure. Once the fluffy café officially opened, everyone would surely fall in love with it.
“Yes, that’s right!”
When Taichi answered vigorously, the receptionist smiled slightly.
“It’s quite an unusual idea… But as long as you’re a tamer, there’s no problem. In fact, there are people who use their familiars for work, such as carrying heavy loads.”
“Oh, I see.”
Taichi was relieved to easily clear the concern about opening a café with magical creatures.
“However, there are some conditions.”
“Conditions?”
“Yes. While it’s fine to engage in hunting and combat, if you’re working with people, you need to be registered with the Tamer Guild.”
It was essential to register with the Tamer Guild, as it was crucial for managing such activities.
“No problem.”
“Thank you for understanding. Now, let me explain about taxes. It varies depending on the location and whether you are operating individually or through a commercial association…”
“I’m operating individually. The store is located in a property rented from the Tamer Guild on the outskirts of the city.”
“Understood.”
The receptionist took out some documents that outlined information for individuals operating businesses.
There were three tax rates for individual businesses:
15% of sales for locations in the city center.
10% of sales for locations outside the city center.
5% of sales for locations on the outskirts of the city.
Since Taichi’s café was on the outskirts, the tax rate was 5%.
“Oh, that’s quite reasonable.”
Having been an office worker, Taichi wasn’t familiar with self-employment, but he could tell that it wasn’t high. Additionally, the fixed tax rates based on location made calculations easier.
The commercial guild would collect taxes monthly, so he needed to remember that.
“Are you planning to open soon?”
“Yes, everything is almost ready—”
Taichi suddenly realized something.
“?”
“Actually… I need a bit more preparation.”
“I see. Once you have the opening date set, please come back to this counter.”
“Okay.”
Taichi thanked the receptionist and hurried back to his newly opened café—or rather, his home.
Given the distance from the city center to the outskirts, he couldn’t dash the entire way. He resolved to get some exercise to improve his stamina.
After alternating between walking and running several times, Taichi finally arrived home.
He opened the door with enthusiasm, and the doorbell he had just created rang cheerfully. Hearing that, Luke, who had been enjoying a nap on the beanbag, woke up.
“The solitary Fenrir’s awakening summoned by a mere human—What’s wrong, Taichi?”
Luke, who had been about to deliver his usual dramatic lines, stared at the breathless and flustered Taichi with a puzzled expression. It was obvious something was wrong.
“It’s terrible! I forgot to get the fluffies for the fluffy café!!”
“…Is that all?”
“No, no, it’s important to me!!”
Even though the shop was ready, if there were no fluffies, he couldn’t convey the charm of fluffiness to people.
When Taichi said this, Luke snorted with a “Hmph.”
“In that case, you should just tame some. You’re a tamer, after all.”
