Ch11 - Property Search
Chapter 11: Property Search
One day after arriving in the city of Leriem.
Today, I plan to get property recommendations from the Tamer Guild.
“I want a mansion big enough for me to relax in!”
“Don’t be unreasonable…”
I don’t know what kind of property Luke is imagining, but given that he’s asking for a mansion, it seems he wants something fit for nobility.
Taichi, while pondering who would do the cleaning, headed with Luke to the Tamer Guild’s reception.
“Good morning.”
“Taichi-san! Good morning!”
The Tamer Guild was as empty as usual.
(Well, it’s fine since it’s quiet…)
“Have you found any good properties?”
“Yes!”
When Taichi asked, Shalti took out three sheets of paper. Yesterday, I’d asked them to find a good location for opening a café.
“Thank you!”
Upon reviewing them, all the properties seemed suitable for use as a café.
“Personally, I recommend this one. It’s close to the Tamer Guild.”
Shalti pointed to a building in the city center. It was a two-story property, with the first floor available for lease. There were several restaurants and shops around, and foot traffic was quite good.
(Hmm, it would be perfect for a café, but…)
I plan to increase the number of magical creatures soon, and being in the city center might turn it into a popular spot with no time to rest. The food industry often has high demand and could become overwhelming.
“… Personally, I’d prefer a more tranquil location.”
“That’s a shame. In that case, I think a property on the outskirts of the city or outside the city walls would be better.”
The property on the outskirts seemed to be a spacious house with a layout that looked quite accommodating. It had a large shop area, a room that could be used as a rest area, and three additional rooms on the second floor.
The suburban property was similarly spacious, but with one key difference.
“This property has a garden…!”
“It’s a backyard. It can be used for training your magical creatures, and there’s also a well.”
“That’s great because I thought we’d need a place for exercise!”
Taichi responded eagerly, and Shalti continued, “However…”
“This area is outside the city walls, so there’s a possibility of magical creatures appearing. Of course, with many soldiers and adventurers around, such occurrences are unlikely…”
“Magical creatures, huh…”
But with Luke as my partner, who can defeat even dragons, any minor monsters like slimes that might appear around the city are no threat.
(Seems like no problem.)
“With Luke around, I think we’ll be fine. For now, could we see the property?”
“Yes, of course!”
So, Taichi was guided by Shalti to the suburban property.
About a ten-minute walk from the city gate, the property was a two-story wooden building with a warm, rustic feel. Vines covered parts of it, adding a nice touch of fantasy.
Through the large windows, one could see the interior, which would be perfect for a fluffy café.
Taichi nodded approvingly, mentally rating it as “Excellent!”
Luke ran to the backyard, showing a “not bad” attitude.
“Taichi-san, let me show you inside.”
“Ah, yes!”
After seeing the backyard, Shalti called out.
Inside, the space designated for the shop had a fireplace. In winter, having fluffy creatures warming up by it would be adorable… Taichi imagined.
(This is perfect…!)
Opening the door leading further inside revealed a kitchen. Next to it was a small room that could serve as storage.
“This place used to be a dining hall. The previous owner was a tamer who procured ingredients with their magical creatures.”
“I see. It seems well-suited for a food-related business.”
While I don’t plan to offer gourmet meals, being able to provide light snacks would be great.
“Hmph, it’s cramped… Are you asking me to live here?”
“Don’t worry, there’s a saying in my hometown that says ‘make do with what you have.’ I’m sure Luke will like it.”
“Hmph! Having you around all the time would just be tiring!”
Despite the grumbling, Luke’s tail wagged happily.
(This tsundere…)
I thought, though Taichi tilted his head, considering.
(No tsundere moments though, so just tsun…)
Even so, Luke is an adorable fluffy creature, so I can easily forgive him.
“The second floor is the living area.”
Using the stairs from the kitchen, we went up to the second floor, which had a living room, a simple kitchen, and three rooms about six tatami mats in size.
The simple kitchen was because all cooking was done on the first floor.
(A bit old in places, but it looks fine overall.)
Satisfied, Taichi listened as Shalti explained.
“The monthly rent is 100,000 Cher if you’re affiliated with the Tamer Guild. You can also purchase it, but that would require a Tamer Guild rank of D or higher.”
“For rent is fine, so can we proceed with that?”
“Yes, of course.”
Even if I could eventually purchase it, having only been in this world for two days, I might get tired and move to another city. For now, I prefer to keep things flexible.
(Well, it seems like a nice city from what I’ve seen so far.)
The fact that it’s the second-largest city in the country means it should be comfortable and convenient. The capital would likely have royalty and might be less appealing to be close to.
“Let’s head back to the guild to handle the paperwork.”
“Please.”
With the property secured, we were one step closer to opening the fluffy café.
(Now to gather more fluffies!)
There’s still much to do.
