After the succubus became a fake young master that everyone disliked

Chapter 21

The next day at TIME Café, Chi Jing was surrounded by the rich aroma of American coffee.

He sat under a sunshade on the rooftop, holding a glass of orange lemonade that didn’t quite match the coffee theme, feeling lethargic from the sun.

Mu Jingshan, slightly uneasy, sat beside him. Across from them were Yang Qianhu, the founder and current CEO of Extreme Entertainment, and Xu Meng, the top manager who had nurtured a triple award-winning actor.

Yang Qianhu placed the pre-drafted contract on the table, but his gaze kept drifting towards Chi Jing.

Even someone as accustomed to seeing beautiful people in the entertainment industry as him couldn’t help but admit that he was exceptionally good-looking.

Apart from his appearance, what was most captivating was his languid and seductive aura; even a casual glance from him seemed to make one’s body go weak.

Oh no! He’s really looking over here!

He immediately refocused his eyes and raised his voice nervously, “Ahem, please take a look at the contract and let us know if there are any changes you would like.”

“??” Xu Meng stared at him as if he had seen a ghost and pinched him sharply on the thigh.

The sudden pain shot through Yang Qianhu’s mind, making him want to wince, but he kept his expression composed, struggling to endure.

He realized he had just blurted out something awkward.

Mu Jingshan, even more nervous than him, hadn’t noticed that he had just recited Xu Meng’s lines. He lowered his head and skimmed through the contract.

“Chi Jing, take a look at this.”

Despite his nervousness, he handed the contract to Chi Jing, hoping he would review it as well.

Chi Jing glanced over it briefly and promptly returned it to him, saying, “I have no objections.”

Jiang Yucheng, sitting to his left, noticed his slightly fatigued state and selected a glass of ice water from the self-service counter.

Seeing that Chi Jing agreed, Mu Jingshan didn’t hesitate any further.

He wasn’t a fool; working at Extreme Entertainment was much better than at Longhuan Entertainment, especially after discovering the issues with its contract.

A company that could sign shady contracts with artists would easily discard insignificant managers like him.

Since he had been offered an opportunity by Extreme Entertainment because of Chi Jing, only a fool would turn it down.

He wasn’t a fool, so he agreed readily.

However, some details needed further discussion. He took a deep breath and turned to continue discussing cooperation details with Xu Meng and Yang Qianhu.

Chi Jing, feeling idle, tapped on the cup in front of Jiang Yucheng.

“Let’s talk about something else.” he leaned over the table, closing the distance between himself and Jiang Yucheng. “I want to see the dormitory conditions!”

Jiang Yucheng responded easily, “Sure, I can take you to see it later. It’s nearby.”

Mu Jingshan, who had overheard their conversation, was momentarily stunned.

The place they were talking was just a street away from the most bustling commercial district in Haishi, yet he claimed the dormitory assigned to Chi Jing was close by.

Mu Jingshan had a sharp sense that something was amiss.

He knew how the entertainment industry worked; even if a company had a good conscience, it wouldn’t be so accommodating!

Moreover, Jiang Yucheng’s gaze at Chi Jing… he had never been in a relationship, but he had seen enough to know that his look was far from innocent.

He began to worry about Chi Jing potentially being manipulated. But after spending time with him, he felt that he was likely more aware of such matters and might have already seen through it.

Meanwhile, Chi Jing was unaware of his manager’s worries.

Regarding Jiang Yucheng’s offer to show him the dormitory, he nodded casually.

“Hello, Mr. Jiang, your ice water.” A server appeared with a tray of ice water.

Clearly recognizing him, the server placed the glass of ice water in front of him.

Chi Jing’s gaze lingered on the frosted glass for a moment before quickly shifting away.

He took out his phone, intending to order a glass for himself as well.

But before he could scan the QR code for the self-service menu, Jiang Yucheng reached over and took his phone, flipping it over and setting it down on the table.

“This one’s for you.” he placed the ice water in front of him. “It’s a bit cold, don’t drink too much.”

Chi Jing blinked slowly, “Okay.”

The server, still present, watched the interaction between the two with curiosity, her face showing pure intrigue.

Chi Jing noticed but, seeing Jiang Yucheng’s nonchalant attitude, didn’t bother with it.

After finalizing the cooperation details, Mu Jingshan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“Shall we go see your dormitory now?” he asked.

“Are so many people going?” Chi Jing looked around at the others. “Don’t you have other things to do? Do you all need to come with me to see the dormitory?”

His comment was like a splash of cold water, startling Yang Qianhu and Mu Jingshan.

Both of them waved their hands in unison, saying, “No, no, I have other things to handle. I won’t go with you to see the dormitory.”

His comment was directed at Yang Qianhu, but Mu Jingshan, unexpectedly, also decided to leave.

“Why are you leaving?”

Longhuang Entertainment was a small new company with limited resources, making his job relatively easy with fewer tasks to handle.

Of course, the salary was also relatively low.

Mu Jingshan was stunned by his question.

Yes, why was he leaving…

He felt like his mind had gone blank that morning; he was woken up by Chi Jing’s request to meet Jiang Yucheng, then arrived to find Extreme Entertainment’s CEO and top manager waiting for him, and they immediately started discussing cooperation.

“Let’s go.” Chi Jing handed the untouched ice water to him. “Wake up.”

The cold, icy touch of the water brought him back to his senses.

He suddenly became fully alert.

Chi Jing, seeing that he had finally regained his composure, asked, “What were you thinking?”

Mu Jingshan remained silent, unsure how to express his concerns to him.

He couldn’t exactly say, “I’m worried Jiang Yucheng might be trying to manipulate you,” could he?

But Chi Jing didn’t have the patience to wait for his answer. Jiang Yucheng appropriately interjected, “If Mr. Mu is busy, I can take Chi Jing back.”

Mu Jingshan wanted to say he wasn’t busy, but since he had already mentioned having something to do, he was at a loss for words.

Chi Jing, however, was at ease.

Hearing that someone could take him back, he patted Mu Jingshan’s shoulder reassuringly.

“I’ll leave first.”

So, Mu Jingshan watched as Chi Jing and Jiang Yucheng left together.

Jiang Yucheng had driven his own car that day. With its high-end insulation and him having pre-cooled the air conditioning, the car was at a very comfortable temperature by the time Chi Jing got in.

After spending over half an hour in the sun on the rooftop, Chi Jing leaned back in the passenger seat, closing his eyes contentedly.

Jiang Yuche opened the driver’s side door, fastened his seatbelt, and adjusted the passenger seat for Chi Jing to lie back comfortably.

He wasn’t prone to motion sickness. As Jiang Yucheng drove towards the so-called dormitory, Chi Jing habitually took out his phone to check Weibo and forums for any news.

He didn’t expect to find any gossip.

Unfortunately, it was about him and Jiang Yucheng.
