Chapter 20
Chi Jing was unaware of these developments.
With only a week left, packing up the house was troublesome, and moving the cats back and forth was even more of a hassle.
Mu Jingshan asked him for his opinion and decided to take him directly to his own home.
In just a few days, Chi Jing noticed that the two kittens had gained weight.
“Have they gotten heavier?” He squatted down, lifting each kitten in turn, “They seem to have put on some weight.”
Mu Jingshan, who was putting groceries he bought on the dining table, casually replied, “They’ve gained half a pound. Kittens grow quickly.”
Chi Jing was petting the kittens, making them purr contentedly.
Mu Jingshan prepared a meal for him, and after he finished eating, he insisted he go take a nap without cleaning up.
Adjusting to a new schedule was painful, and Chi Jing yawned repeatedly, but he still managed to shower before returning to his room.
After leaving the bathroom, he deliberately avoided Mu Jingshan, fearing he might see the small horns on his head.
In his room, he locked the door, collapsed onto the bed, and rolled around comfortably.
He pulled out his phone, found a contact saved under “Annoying but Good-Looking,” and sent a message.
【Chi Jing: 10 AM tomorrow, TIME Café】
The message was immediately followed by a WeChat call from the other side.
He answered the call, tossed his phone aside, and rolled into his blanket.
“What’s up?” His voice was heavy with sleepiness.
Jiang Yucheng’s magnetic voice came through the phone, “Are you tired?”
Chi Jing replied, “Are you calling just to chat?”
The soft laugh on the other end was even more apparent in the quiet room. Chi Jing, barely awake, muttered, “Your voice sounds nice.”
Jiang Yucheng said, “If you like it so much, I’ll sing for you next time when we’re closer.”
He yawned again, with a tear in the corner of his eye, “Just tell me what you want. I need to sleep.”
“Bring the contract tomorrow.”
“Couldn’t you just send that in a text message?”
“Also, I’d like to invite you to sign with Extreme Entertainment.” Jiang Yucheng’s tone was now serious, without the earlier teasing. “I’ll prepare a contract for you. You can propose any conditions.”
He finished speaking, but Chi Jing didn’t respond immediately.
The room fell silent, except for the soft meows of the kittens outside the door.
Jiang Yucheng thought he was thinking it over and waited patiently for a response.
But after a long wait, he only heard his steady breathing, indicating he had fallen asleep.
Chi Jing slept soundly, sprawled on his bed, oblivious to Jiang Yucheng’s sighs.
When he woke up, he saw the missed call log with nearly half an hour of call time.
He had returned in the morning and slept straight until dusk.
The orange-pink twilight outside the window was beautiful. Mu Jingshan’s house was in a relatively remote area, so there were no tall buildings blocking the view. The sky stretched out infinitely.
Chi Jing held his phone and walked to the window. He sent Jiang Yucheng a sticker and opened the window with one hand.
The evening breeze carried the warmth of the day, lifting his short hair and blowing away his drowsiness.
He stretched again at the window, and his phone buzzed.
【Jiang Yucheng: Awake?】
Chi Jing, not feeling guilty at all, called him back directly after seeing the message.
“Hello.” He cut to the chase, “What did you want to say this morning?”
Jiang Yucheng replied, “Oh, not much.”
He frowned, “If it’s not much, then why—”
“Just asking if you want to sign with Extreme Entertainment. We’ll cover the breach of contract fee with Dragon Phoenix Entertainment.”
Chi Jing’s emotions were interrupted abruptly. He was momentarily confused, “Sign with Extreme Entertainment?”
In the CEO’s office of Extreme Entertainment, Jiang Yucheng sat on the guest sofa, a draft contract spread out beside him.
He picked up a cup of coffee that had gone cold.
“Extreme Entertainment will provide you with the best resources.”
“And?”
“And we’ll handle the current controversies.”
“I mean… does Extreme Entertainment have dormitories?”
Jiang Yucheng was taken aback by his request. He chuckled softly.
“Yes.”
Chi Jing lifted his gaze, and the twilight deepened.
“Let’s discuss this in person tomorrow. Bring information about your dormitory environment.” He said, “Also, I want Mu Jingshan to be my manager.”
When Jiang Yucheng’s call ended, Yang Qianhu, the curious CEO of Extreme Entertainment, couldn’t help but ask, “Who was that, Chi Jing?”
Jiang Yucheng casually threw his phone on the sofa and replied with a casual “mm.”
Yang Qianhu, who had grown up with Jiang Yucheng, immediately noticed something was off.
“Wow, when you were on the phone, your voice was so soft. But now you’re back to your usual icy self.” He teased, noticing Jiang Yucheng’s warning glare and stopping his jokes.
“Alright, so you’re really into him, aren’t you?”
“Into him?” Jiang Yucheng continued reading the draft contract nonchalantly.
“What else could it be? Don’t play dumb,” Yang Qianhu said, sitting down opposite him, “You seem pretty smitten. Is he really that good-looking?”
Realizing he had been exposed, Jiang Yucheng remained composed. “Why do you ask?”
“Just curious what you like about him.” Yang Qianhu didn’t know Chi Jing but knew Jiang Yucheng well.
He had always thought he would be single forever, as he had never shown much interest in people, only in acting.
“Don’t bother him.” Jiang Yucheng issued a final warning.
Yang Qianhu reassured him, “Don’t worry. Since you’re so protective of him, I won’t bother him.”
Before Jiang Yucheng could speak, he rubbed his hands together and laughed, “But as the CEO of Extreme Entertainment, I should be present at your contract discussion tomorrow.”
Jiang Yucheng slammed the folder on the table, the folder’s cover making a sharp sound on the glass surface.
He stared at him in silence, making him feel uneasy.
“Alright, alright, just curious. If you don’t want me there, I won’t come.” He grumbled, completely dropping his usually composed CEO demeanor.
Jiang Yucheng suddenly smiled.
“You’re curious about my relationship with him?”
Seeing his sudden smile, Yang Qianhu broke out in cold sweat. “What are you planning? If you don’t like me asking, just say so.”
“I remember you have a villa in Zhonghai.”
Yang Qianhu was puzzled by the question.
After a moment of confusion, he answered, “Yes, we bought it together, it’s the neighboring building.”
“Clear it out. I’ll stay there tomorrow.”
He was even more confused. “But you have a place of your own, right?”
“Let someone else stay there.”
“??? Who?”
Jiang Yucheng smiled with a hint of mischief, “The person you’re going to meet tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll love it.”
