Chapter 32: 31. The Candy Kingdom and a guard.
*POV: Finn the Human*
Finn would never grow tired of this view. While perched high on Jake's back, he could see the entirety of the land spreading out before him. It was majestic.
From the winding rivers to the peculiarly shaped trees of varying colors and sizes—even the one or two birds that flew by—everything was a feast for the eyes. The still morning sun emphasized this beauty with its gentle warmth.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. bird. "Finn said waving at a passing pair of blue birds who oddly enough waved back as they flew away.
Once again, Finn relaxed on Jake's back, closing his eyes as he hummed a song. He swayed his feet to the rhythm, lost in thoughts about the future.
Changing plans, things to create, decisions to make, people to befriend, and strategies to secure a happy ending.
"Haha," Finn chuckled at his thoughts.
Was a happy ending truly possible in a world like this? Was it foolish to think such a thing when had barely seen these horrors this world had to present.
Finn didn't care if it seemed impossible; he was determined to make it happen. This newfound determination filled him with the belief that he could achieve anything if he desired it enough.
But if there was something that gave him a certain assurance, it was the Nomicon, his knowledge and the fact that he was the protagonist of this world.
And Finn craved that happy ending with a fervor.
The idea of running away had never crossed his mind. Finn was the current protagonist of this world, and fleeing would only bring chaos—not just to him, but to everyone in the Land of Ooo.
The thought of hiding also didn't appeal to him at all, and a slight smile spread across Finn's face. Running away is too boring, he mused.
"Hey Finn, you're unusually happy today." Jake's face appeared beside him, curiosity glinting in his eyes.
Finn had noticed Jake's probing look since the morning and was surprised that his brother's patience had finally worn thin. He was also lately noticed how Jake could immediately get a read on his emotions. Was Finn that easy to read or did Jake just know him well enough.
"Of course I'm happy; I'm finally getting to see Princess Bubblegum," Finn replied casually, grinning at Jake's shocked expression. That was his goal.
Finn knew Jake would be surprised by his admission, as he usually kept his feelings to himself.
"Oh, is that so? Does my baby brother have a crush on the princess?" Jake quickly recovered, not wanting to miss the chance to tease his younger sibling.
Jake was shocked by Finn's admission, but given how happy Finn had been since morning, it was clear that the thought of seeing the princess had made him genuinely excited.
"Yes, absolutely," Finn answered immediately, bursting into laughter at Jake's exaggerated shocked face.
How could you tease someone who was shameless enough to accept any form of teasing? The answer was simple: you could not!
"Hahaha!" Finn's laughter echoed as they disappeared further from the treehouse.
He finally quieted down a little and posed a question that had bothered him for a while.
"Hey Jake, we haven't seen Jermaine in a while. Do you think he's doing well? "Finn asked curiously, a silence longing in his voice. It surprised him that he missed his other brother.
"I'm sure he's doing fine Finn. Jermaine is a tough guy. "Jake said, a fond smile on him. He missed Jermaine…
"We should visit him. "Finn finally said making his intentions clear.
"Yeah, let's drop by the old house. "Jake said and a silence agreement of relief washed over both the two. As if a weight was lifted from their shoulders
A comfortable silence settled as the young child and his dog's best friend went off to their next adventure.

*LOCATION: The Candy Kingdom*
They had left behind the more traditional green trees and approached what Finn could only describe as a sight straight out of a child's fantasy book.
A complete candy land.
Finn and Jake reached the outskirts of the Candy Kingdom, where Finn had asked Jake to drop him off so he could take a stroll along the candy tree-lined path, where the leaves were made of pink cotton candy and the branches appeared to be marshmallows.
The Cotton Candy Forest was indeed a strange sight for Finn—not because they were made of cotton candy, but because they were actual trees.
The sight was oddly attractive, and the sweet scent in the air had its peculiar charm.
Finn found it interesting how an entire area could exhibit such strange properties, but then he recalled there were three other places with similarly weird characteristics, and he felt it was normal.
From afar, Finn could see sights like the rock candy mountain, with what he believed were its frosting-covered peaks. He wondered how they would taste.
Finn had always known that buying that map would be useful; even now, it was proving its worth.
Weirdly, there was also a rainbow that ran from one side of the mountain to the other, perhaps formed by Bonnie or, maybe, it was a natural occurrence.
"Hey, Jake, you've been quiet. What are you thinking about?" Finn asked, feeling satisfied with all his observations. He turned to Jake, who appeared to be in deep thought.
"I'm thinking about the pizza toppings I'm going to get," Jake said, and he continued talking about the perfect topping combination and how he wanted his cheese prepared.
Sometimes, Finn forgot that Jake could get obsessed with the type of food he ate, considering that Jake was a very good chef from what Finn had seen so far.
Finn only shook his head, allowing Jake to continue with his thoughts while he took the reins and led the way. He preferred not to have Jake suddenly wander off due to being lost in thought.
So, Finn took the lead with one of Jake's arms wrapped around his.
It took a while, but they eventually arrived at the Candy Kingdom's only entrance, a drawbridge that was currently open, allowing different types of candy people to enter or exit.
Up-close, Finn was in further awe at the kingdom's features. Especially the Glorios castle that reached high above and the tree that pierced from the top acting as a great cover over the entire kingdom.
What truly took his breathe away was the two magnificent sentries that acted as the guardians of the kingdom. The Gumball Guardians. A true beauty of both science and magic. Something he felt he would have to discuss in depth with Bonnie.
Sometimes it was easy to forget that she was a genius with all the things she would normally do from the show. But geniuses did have their quirks. He would know.
Finn approached the gate, with Jake still following behind him.
"Halt! Who are you?" A banana guard stepped forward to stop Finn, a spear in his hand. From what Finn could hear, he was sure that the question was more out of curiosity than an actual search for trouble.
From what Finn could recall, the banana guards were, how should one put it nicely, not very good at their job. "Not very good" was kinder than "horrible," but Finn often wondered what Bonnie was thinking when she decided to employ them.
Finn did not answer immediately. He took the opportunity to gawk at the fact that a talking banana stood before him, from its yellow peel to the chocolate covering its head, and for some strange reason, it struck Finn as extremely funny.
"Hey, are you laughing at me?" Finn quickly caught the hint of hurt in the banana's voice and composed himself. He knew the candy people were quite emotional and preferred not to deal with a crying banana.
"No, I'm not laughing at you. I was just admiring your cool spear. My name is Finn Campbell, and this guy here is Jake, my best friend." Finn made sure to introduce Jake as well; it was just the proper thing to do.
"Oh really, you think my spear is cool? Thanks! I polished it today!" The banana guard started to act shy, rubbing the back of his head with his head bowed.
"Well, we'll be going then. Jake, come on," Finn said as he waved, pulling Jake, who was trailing behind him, forward into the open gates of the kingdom.
"Oh, okay. Later, Finn and Jake!" the banana guard waved happily as Finn and Jake continued their way.
"What a nice guy. I must tell the rest of the guys about this," the banana guard said cheerfully as he continued the rest of his shift with a happy smile.
. . . . . . . . . ADVENTURE TIME...
Sorry for the late posting, I was busy and tired yesterday so I went to sleep immediately. So here is the chapter here right now.
A candy kingdom short introduction I guess, not really much is happening. But after this part will see Finn make the computers he wanted, visit an dungeon or two and finally the Farmers market night festival from the earlier chapters. [ Feel like calling it a blood moon festival]
