Chapter 18: 18 . Black smith and the forbidden knowledge
POV: Finn The Human
The hall was long and seemingly went on a countless distance, and by what the Shogun figure was saying, Finn knew he would be present there for a very long time.
He started walking forward as he read the words that appeared on each door as he passed them one by one.
" Earth attack, air fist, hydro hand . . . " The doors were many and clearly, the skills to learn were even more. Some might be useful, and some might be useless. But that did not matter to Finn!
He would only know after he had learned them.
Finn suddenly noticed something: the door at the end of the hall; why was it moving away as he approached?
What was the Nomicon trying to do here?
" Stop whatever you're doing, I want to know what's there. " At the very end of it all, the Nomicon was his power.
And whatever he desired it would do for him. Yes, Finn could understand that it had consciousness and would act in ways that were beneficial to him, but it still had to follow his commands.
The shogun nodded, and the door approached, finally stopping in front of him.
" The ultimate lesson. The user is advised not to enter. " Finn wondered why, and it was for that reason that he turned to the Shogun with a questioning face.
Why was this here if not for his use?
" This is a room that would have normally been used to completely mind wipe the ninja when they have completed their purpose. But now, with you present and with the changes applied to the Nomicon, such a thing doesn't have to happen as you are the permanent owner. But still entering might cause the user to experience a mind wipe. " The shogun said some of the most words it had spoken in a while and it had only put Finn on the edge.
A mind wipe was that fatale to him!
It could possibly make him forget everything about himself from both his current life and the past one!
Luckily, he had not tried doing such a thing, or he could have potentially had amnesia.
But the fact that he could not use it did not mean it could not be used on anyone else. There was a lot of potential in this room if exploited well.
The potential that he had to be careful did not end badly for him.
" Let's go to the next place. "
The Shogun raised its hand and clenched its fist.
The surrounding seemingly was crushed and there were in another area again.
" This is a blacksmith workshop. The place you will be learning how to repair as well as make new weapons in case of unavoidable damage to the ones you already have. "
Finn could already feel the heat from where he was. This place was ready for use.
The shogun walked forward to one of the two doors present in the building and slid the door away.
" This is a weapon storage unit. Many weapons are present here and you can also store the weapons you have made here as well. " The shogun said and moved aside, allowing Finn to peek inside.
His eyes instantly sparkled. What he could say about the initial viewing was that a lot of things were sharp and very shiny.
A wet dream for any weapon enthusiast
" Wow, " Different weapons raging from the Katana to nunchuks. Sai, bow staff as well as a lot of throwing stars.
It looked like he was going to be a blacksmith with how things were going, and he would enjoy the job. Another thing to add to the long list of things he was required to do.
Sweating in a hot room, hitting a red hot metal continuously while breathing in toxic fumes.
That suddenly did not sound pleasant at all. Luckily, this would be happening inside the Nomicon, where he had nothing to worry about.
He suddenly noticed how the Shogun had not moved him to another area, and Finn wondered what was wrong.
He turned to look at it, and surprisingly, the helmet was frowning. It was as if it was struggling with a decision that it should make, and Finn could not know why.
" So, should we move to the next place? " Finn asked, more curious to know its response and to see what had made it struggle so much.
It must have something to do with the place they would be going to next.
The shogun remained silent for a while until it finally seemingly relaxed in its features.
It seemed it had come to a decision, and it waved its hand once again as the scenery started changing right in front of their eyes until it finally stopped in what Finn believed was a bamboo forest.
The shogun immediately started walking on the bamboo path, his hand clasped behind their back. Like a scholarly figure.
" The place I am about to show you next holds dark secrets. Secrets I prefer you rather not know at the moment. " The shoguns' voice was more somber than before and boomed silently in the bamboo forest.
" The only thing I can do is to tell you not to enter. "
The walk continued through the bamboo forest, and Finn could only wonder where exactly they were going that even the shogun felt he needed to be careful of, what dangers could lie in that place that he should not enter.
" Why is that? What would happen if I entered the place? "
The shogun's head turned and looked at him. The red coming from it increases in intensity.
" You would potentially suffer a permanent corruption on your soul. " The shogun replied loud enough that, for some reason, Finn felt a shiver run down his spine.
Corruption, what did that mean? And why did it make him have a bad feeling about it?
" What is this soul corruption? " Finn asked; he had to know all the dangers to be properly aware of what to do and what not to do.
" You will understand when we arrive. " The shogun said and kept quiet.
Finn could only wonder what it meant and why it was trying to be so mysterious or maybe even it could not fully comprehend what would happen if he forced himself to enter the place.
" We are here. " The shogun said, and surprisingly, purple bats suddenly appeared from the direction only to disappear once again.
' How creepy,' Finn thought, but now that he was here, he could sense why the shogun preferred for him not to be here.
There was a certain darkness about the place, a vibe that made him shiver instinctually as shivers ran down his arms.
The building once again followed the Japanese architecture of a temple, but it had primary red pillars and a curved nine hang as its symbol.
[ Forbidden knowledge of the shadow warrior ]
[ DO NOT ENTER ]
The Nomicon was very clear that it did not want him to be here for now, and Finn could understand; the vibe the place gave even gave him the shivers.
But he was still curious. What exactly could be kept in this place?
" This place holds some of the dark arts made by one of the past ninjas. The only reason I prefer you not to enter at the moment is because you stand to suffer a soul corruption if you practice any of the arts. "
What the shogun said made sense and Finn was not foolish enough to dismiss the words that came from a good council that was meant for his benefit.
He was not that arrogant.
But Finn was still curious. It was in his nature to be curious and he therefore asked more.
" Why did the past ninja do such a thing, make this dark arts? " He did not understand. What could have pushed one of the original ninja's to do such a thing.
The shogun was silent for a moment, maybe contemplating an answer or maybe thinking whether it should tell him.
" One of the original Norisu nine getting tired of their continuous battle with the Sorcerer stumbled upon an idea. ' Why not fight chaos with chaos' She wondered. and that was exactly what she did."
The surrounding become colder, darker . As if the words spooked a sort of dark resonance from the Nomicon.
" She dived into the study of the chaos energy. The power that powered the balls of chaos the Sorcerer used. Each and every new discovery revealing more and 'more success' "
It was like his breathing become harder and the words wanted to suffocate him.
" But what she could not see. What the others realized to late was happening. Was that she was growing madder and madder with each passing day. Her research and experiments becoming darker and more horrific with each of her success. "
Was it a trick of the eye or was the Nomicon feeling suddenly dark.
" All this knowledge, this forbidden knowledge of the shadow warrior. It all belongs to her! "
Everything went back to normal in an instant. A quick instant that even Finn was confused whether what had just happened was because of the Nomicon or his mind playing tricks on him.
Finn breathed a sigh of relief and nodded his head at the explanation.
" At what time would I be ready? " He was curious, though, when he would be able to enter the place. Despite the dark tale, Finn would never deny himself an opportunity to being the strongest possible. He just had to be super duper careful.
The shogun advised him not to. That did not mean he could not enter. He had every ability to. He just preferred not to at the moment.
Even the shogun had demonstrated to Finn that if he wanted something in this Nomicon world, it really could not be denied for him.
The Nomicon would simply warn him. The consequences if he failed to listen to those warnings would be his to pay.
" You will be ready once you have gone through sufficient Haki training. Your willpower will be strong enough to be able to suppress the allure of the dark arts. "
Finn nodded his head in agreement and gave one last look at the building before turning away.
" The next place is the last of our journey. "

Aloha to all my wonderful readers! I decided to treat you all once again with another chapter despite saying I would not be releasing for a while.
Praise me!!!
But I'm still not fully back though.
The temple of the shadow warrior is a place that I will explore a little later with all its secrets and it looks like an interesting side story to focus on.
And the blacksmith place was a place I added; originally, no such place was mentioned in the book.
