A Un-quirked Detective

Chapter 3: Let me tell you a story

"Why do you want to meet with me?" the quirkless man replied.

"I just want to clear your story so if anything happens your name will be fine," Noya responded calmly.

"Fine," the quirkless man said, "Just promise me that someone will keep an eye on that thing," he said pointing at the tiger man.

"Of course friend," Noya replied, "Just follow me and everything will be fine," Noya said while walking out of the room.

The quirkless man along with Yaoyorozu followed Noya as he walked down the hall.

Yaoyorozu was wondering how Noya knew his way around while Noya was wondering where a safe place would be to take the quirkless man.

Eventually Noya saw a room that looked mostly empty except for the many sowing machines and unfinished quilts that were littered around.

"Get comfortable, I want to tell you a story and you can tell me how true it is," Noya said pulling up a chair for the quirkless guy.

"Go on," he said siting down on the chair.

"Say I was a person who wasn't a big fan of people with mutant type quirks," Noya said gaining an odd look from Yaoyorozu, "And one of them worked with me, what would I do?" he said.

"What does this have to do with anything?" the quirkless man replied.

"Let me finish," Noya said, "Now what an idea could be is to frame him for something but how?" Noya continued putting his hand on his chin, "Oh I know, I'll steal something from where I work and blame it on him!"

The quirkless man was quiet and shifting his hands together.

"So simple, first I'll steal some mutant shoes from a movie shooting not too far from here, then I'll steal some pearls from where I work while wearing the shoes, then I'll jump into the mud and make everybody think that it was him," Noya told the man, "And nobody will ever know!" he finished.

As Noya finished his story he had to dodge out of the way due to the quirkless man lunging at Noya. The man fell on his face and attempted to get up, just to be met with Noya's foot in his back.

Noya then pulled a pair of handcuffs out of his coat pocket and placed them on the quirkless man hands.

Yaoyorozu was about to jump in to help Noya, but it was over to fast for her to make a plan and act on it.

"Can you call the police while make sure this guy doesn't do anything stupid," Noya said pointing at the quirkless man underneath his foot.

With a nod Yaoyorozu left the sowing room while taking out her phone to call the police.

"I know being quirkless sucks," Noya said, "But you don't have to take it out on others," Noya said looking at the quirkless man.

"What do you know about me?" the quirkless man replied.

"I can say I relate as a fellow quirkless person," Noya said back.

"So, your another useless person," the quirkless man responded.

"A bit hypocritical don't you think," Noya said confused.

"I wasn't always useless," the quirkless man said trying to shake out of his handcuffs.

"You weren't always quirkless?" Noya said.

"My quirk was awesome, it was shock absorption," he said looking up, "But one day, I woke up and it was gone," he then strained on the handcuffs.

Hearing this Noya took a picture of the quirkless man's face.

"The police have been called," Yaoyorozu said walking back into the room, "Is there anything more that needs to be done," she asked.

"I need my money and I'll be gone," Noya said walking towards the door.

"Here," Yaoyorozu said handing over about twenty-five thousand yen without blinking, "Now before you leave can I ask you a question?" she asked.

"Sorry but I have something important to do," Noya replied, "Can you open up the elevator so I can leave?"

"Yes I can," she said going with Noya to the elevator.

When they got to the elevator Yaoyorozu opened it up and they both got inside.

"Now about my question," Yaoyorozu said, "How did you know it was him?" she asked.

"It was simple," Noya replied, "It couldn't have been the person with the wind quirk because if it was there would be no footprints," Noya said.

"Makes sense," Yaoyorozu replied.

"It couldn't have been the person with the mutant quirk because there were fingerprints and his quirk gave him paws," Noya continued.

"And how did you know it wasn't Ms. Tomita?" Yaoyorozu said, "The person with the bubble quirk," she clarified.

"I didn't," Noya responded, "But I knew it made more sense for the person who seemed to not like the person with the mutant quirk to be the culprit."

"And how did you know that it was one of the cleaners that did it?" Yaoyorozu asked.

"The white waterproof piece of cloth at the crime scene," he responded.

"First floor," a voice in the elevator rung.

"With that it is my time to leave," Noya said leaving the elevator, "Have fun explaining this to your parents.

"My parents will hear no word of this thanks to you," Yaoyorozu said relieved.

"If your parents are coming home within the next few days, I think they'll notice the policemen around your house," Noya said, "But that's just my thoughts," Noya said.

Right after he said this Yaoyorozu ran to one of the maids to ask her what she should do.

"Remember to tell the police about the foot cast outside!" Noya yelled hoping that she would hear.

And with that, Noya took his leave.

————————————————————————

Arriving at his small apartment Noya quickly sent the picture he took of the quirkless man to his printer.

After it printed out, he took the picture and stuck it to the bulletin board on in his office.

It was filled with other pictures of people; they were all connected with a red string that also connected to a notecard which said, 'Quirk removed.'

'All this time and this is all I have to show for it,' Noya lamented.

About one and a half years ago he got an odd request, it was to find someone's quirk. The customer only came to Noya after going to many others, but none of them believed the customer.

To be honest, Noya didn't believe the customer either, but Noya was too poor to say no to it, so he accepted it.

However, looking into it was much harder than expected. Anytime he searched the topic up he got nothing. When he found documents that mentioned people losing quirks it was taken off the internet almost immediately.

Of course, the removal wasn't perfect and occasionally Noya could download the documents before they were removed.

Noya was thinking people could just lose their quirks randomly and it was just a thing that could happen, and the government was trying to cover it up, until he found a document some good information.

It had information about many different people who lost their quirks, similar to what Noya had but it was online and made the connection that all the quirks that went missing were 'good' quirks.

The document put up the argument that someone is taking these quirks. For what reason? Probably power but you can never know.

And then, his phone started to ring.

"Hello this is Noya's detective services, how can I help you?" he said picking up the phone.

"Hi Noya," a voice sounded out from the phone.

"Oh, what's up Izuku," Noya responded.

"Do you have any time to hang out?" Izuku asked through the phone.

"Course!" Noya replied, "Meet up at your house?" Noya asked.

"Yes!" Izuku said happy.

"Ok, see you in a bit I need to finish something," Noya said before hanging up.
