Chapter 9: 9. Fight Back (2)
"Captain Decken! I've caught a strange kid, half-human, half-fishman. It's weird that one of our own married to a human!" shouted one of the fish-men, gripping Luca's arm tightly.
Luca struggled in vain, his small form powerless against the much larger fish-man. Before another word could be exchanged, Royal appeared before them in a flash, his piercing gaze fixed on the one holding Luca.
"Let him go," Royal said, his voice calm but carrying an undeniable weight of authority.
The fish-man flinched, momentarily caught off guard by Royal's sudden appearance and unnerving confidence. But before he could respond, the atmosphere shifted. A vast shadow began to spread over the area, and Royal's eyes narrowed as he tilted his head upward.
A massive ship, larger than any Royal had ever seen, loomed above them. The ship's sheer size rivaled the entire Fish-Man Island. The ancient vessel creaked ominously as it press the bubble surface, its presence casting an oppressive weight over everything below.
"Is that... a ship?" Royal muttered, his sharp eyes scanning the vessel. He quickly assessed that the situation was escalating far beyond a simple rescue.
The fish-man holding Luca smirked. "Impressed, outsider? That's Noah, the ship of our ancestors! When it crashes down on Fish-Man Island, it'll mark the end of this wretched place!"
Royal clenched his fists, his mind racing. He couldn't let this madness unfold, but first—Luca. Then, his eyes blazing with determination. "Now, I'll say it one last time. Let. Him. Go."
The fish-man hesitated, but his grip didn't loosen. Royal's patience ran out, and in a flash, he closed the distance, his hand moving with lightning speed to free Luca from the enemy's grasp.
The Fishman was startled and, with a face red with anger, lunged to attack Royal. Royal easily dodged the attack. The black-haired man then delivered a precise knifehand strike to the Fishman's nape, knocking him out instantly and leaving him sprawled on the ground.
With Luca safely behind him, Royal glanced back at the looming Noah. The ship's descent was slow but steady, and the threat it posed to Fish-Man Island was undeniable.
"Stay close to me, Luca," Royal said, his voice firm but kind. The boy nodded, his wide eyes reflecting both fear and awe at Royal's presence. Royal started to attacked the enemies surrounding him.
"Hey, all of you, protect me from this guy!" Decken shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice cracking with desperation.
His subordinates hesitated for a moment, glancing at each other before once again charging at Royal in a disorganized frenzy.
One of them swung a sword at Royal with all his might. The blade connected—but instead of cutting, it shattered into shards upon impact with Royal's impenetrable body. The fish-man holding the broken hilt stared in disbelief before Royal calmly stepped forward, brushing off the attack as if it were nothing more than a gentle breeze.
"Amateurs," Royal muttered under his breath, his piercing gaze sweeping across the group of enemies.
Without wasting a second, Royal took the opportunity to counter. His movements were precise and deliberate, a stark contrast to the chaotic and clumsy attacks of Decken's henchmen. A swift punch sent one flying, colliding with two others and knocking them all to the ground.
Another rushed in from the side, attempting to strike Royal with a large hammer. But before it could even swing downward, Royal grabbed the weapon mid-air, crushing it in his grip and sending the wielder tumbling backward from the sheer force.
Compared to Zoro's skilled opponents, these attackers were painfully untrained. They flailed and lunged without strategy or skill, their confidence faltering with every failed assault.
Decken, watching from a distance, began to panic as his underlings were swiftly taken down one by one.
"W-What are you fools doing? He's just one man!" Decken shouted, his voice growing more frantic with each passing second.
Royal didn't even spare him a glance, focusing instead on efficiently dismantling the small army surrounding him. A powerful kick sent another opponent sprawling, while a quick jab knocked the wind out of another. In mere moments, the ground was littered with groaning and defeated fishmen.
Finally, Royal turned his attention to Decken, his eyes narrowing as he stepped forward.
"Your turn," he said, his voice low and menacing.
Decken stumbled backward, his confidence completely eroded. "W-Wait! Let's talk about this!" he stammered, sweat dripping down his face as he realized there was no one left to protect him.
Royal's expression didn't waver as he continued advancing, his focus solely on ensuring Luca's safety and putting an end to Decken's schemes.
Seeing his underlings incapacitated, Decken resorted to his usual cunning tactics. With a flick of his wrist, he activated his ability, sending a massive ax soaring toward Luca, who was still cowering in fear nearby.
Royal's sharp eyes caught the glint of the weapon as it hurtled through the air. Without hesitation, he moved at blinding speed, intercepting the ax just before it could reach the boy. His hand closed around the handle, halting its trajectory effortlessly.
"Wrong target," Royal said coldly, spinning the ax in his hand.
Decken's eyes widened in shock as Royal redirected the ax, hurling it back toward him with incredible force.
"W-Wait! No!" Decken shrieked in a high-pitched voice, his legs scrambling to get out of the way. The weapon sped toward him like a homing missile, slicing through the air with lethal precision.
At the last possible second, Decken threw himself to the ground, narrowly avoiding the ax as it buried itself deep into a pillar behind him. The impact sent cracks spidering through the structure, and the vibration knocked him off balance.
"Y-You... you dare?!" Decken sputtered, glaring at Royal with a mixture of fear and anger.
Royal stood tall, his calm demeanor unshaken. "You shouldn't play with weapons you can't control," he said, his tone laced with quiet authority.
Decken's hands trembled as he realized just how outmatched he was. All his bravado had crumbled, leaving him exposed as the coward he truly was. Meanwhile, Luca stared at Royal in awe, his fear slowly dissipating in the presence of his protector.
Royal turned his gaze to Luca, offering him a reassuring nod before redirecting his focus to Decken, ensuring the slippery fish-man wouldn't try another trick.
"YOU...You will lose—I'll make sure you sink along with the people here! I will make you pay human!" Decken shouted, his voice echoing with desperation. He thrust his hands forward, activating his ability once more. This time, every weapon within reach—blades, spears, and even tiny needles—rose into the air, their sharp points directed at Royal.
Royal narrowed his eyes, analyzing the incoming barrage. The array of weapons was overwhelming, and the countless small needles glinted dangerously in the light, their tiny forms making them harder to track.
"Let's see how tough you really are!" Decken yelled, his lips curling into a twisted grin.
The weapons launched simultaneously, hurtling toward Royal like a deadly storm. Royal stood firm, calculating the trajectory of each projectile in an instant, with precision born of his superhuman reflexes, he moved.
The larger weapons—swords, axes, and spears—were deflected with swift movements of his hands and forearms. The sharp clanging sounds of metal meeting unbreakable skin echoed in the chaos. The smaller needles, however, required a different approach.
Focusing his enhanced senses, Royal detected the needles' high-pitched whistle as they approached. Using a burst of super-speed, he weaved between the nearly invisible projectiles, each movement precise and deliberate.
Decken's grin faltered as he watched his barrage fail. "Impossible...!" he muttered.
Royal darted through the last wave of needles and closed the distance to Decken in the blink of an eye. Grabbing him by the front of his shirt, Royal lifted the panicked fishman off the ground effortlessly.
"Your weapons are useless," Royal said calmly, his voice carrying an edge of warning. "Now stop threatening the safety of this island and its people."
Decken struggled against Royal's grip, but it was futile. His eyes darted around, looking for an escape or another weapon to manipulate, but Royal's presence was overwhelming, leaving him paralyzed with fear.
Amidst the chaos, Royal's sharp senses picked up faint cries from the distance. The words "Princess Shirahoshi" echoed repeatedly, growing louder with each second. Turning his attention in that direction, Royal's eyes caught sight of Princess Shirahoshi.
She was struggling valiantly, her delicate yet immense form attempting to push back the colossal ship Noah, which loomed ominously over the kingdom below. The effort was visible in every movement of her trembling hands as she tried to redirect the ship's descent.
Beside her, King Neptune was doing his best to aid his daughter. With the strength of a seasoned warrior, he pushed against the ship's side, his powerful muscles straining under the immense weight. The massive shark, Megalo, joined their efforts, circling and nudging the ship, trying desperately to alter its course.
But their efforts seemed futile. The ship, larger than anything they had ever faced, continued its relentless descent toward the kingdom. Its size and weight were overwhelming, and the air was thick with tension as the residents of Fish-Man Island watched in fear from below, their cries filling the ocean.
Royal's jaw tightened as he assessed the dire situation. The image of Shirahoshi and Neptune's unwavering determination stirred something deep within him.
He glanced back at Van Der Decken, still dangling in his grip, trembling with terror. Without hesitation, Royal slammed him into the ground, rendering him unconscious in an instant.
In a blur of motion, Royal took to the skies, his eyes locked onto the descending ship. The world around him slowed as he analyzed every detail—the ship's trajectory, the structural weak points, and the sheer force needed to stop it.
He needed to leave Fishman Island first to stop the massive ship. With a surge of speed, Royal darted toward the exit tube the air parting around him in powerful ripples.
He knew his lung capacity was strong enough to hold his breath for an extended period. As he swam closer the sheer size of the ship became even more intimidating, but Royal didn't falter.
Landing on the ship's surface, he dug his hands into the woods with a force that caused it to groan under the pressure. His feet braced against the deck as he pushed upward, countering the ship's descent.
"Just a little more," Royal thought, feeling the ship's massive weight and the water plessure pressing against him.
With a final, monumental effort, Royal managed to push the massive ship Noir away from the protective bubble surrounding Fish-Man Island. The structure groaned under his hands as he launched it upward, directing it far from the delicate underwater haven.
Above it all, Hody Jones stood defiantly in the plaza, his voice booming as he delivered his venomous speech.
"Humans are the lowest creatures in existence! Their filth contaminates everything they touch. They are the reason Fishmen suffer!"
His words, full of hatred, were directed at the gathered citizens of Fish-Man Island. Many of them watched in discomfort, their eyes betraying doubt, while others, emboldened by his rhetoric, cheered in agreement.
Royal, however, had no interest in listening. He tuned out the speech entirely, suppressing his heightened senses to avoid the bitterness of Hody's words. To him, it was nothing new.
"This is no different from Zod," Royal thought, his memory drifting to the Kryptonian general's fanatical proclamations. "He, too, believed in supremacy and sought to impose it on others. No race, no species, stands above another."
With that thought firmly in his mind, Royal focused on the task at hand. His eyes scanned the vast expanse of water as he pushing Noah higher and higher. The intense pressure of the ocean began to lessen as he ascended toward the surface. The air grew lighter, and the colors of the sea transitioned into the bright blue hues of the open ocean.
As the ship emerged from the depths, its sheer size cast a long shadow over the surface. Royal released it gently, allowing it to float aimlessly on the ocean's calm waves. He hovered for a moment, catching his breath.
"This is where you'll stay," he murmured, his voice resolute. From a distance, Royal spotted a Marine ship passing by on patrol. He groaned and quickly hide behind the legendary ship.
Royal felt a strange sense of relief. Noah, the harbinger of destruction, was far away from the kingdom's fragile bubble. With the ship no longer a threat, he turned and plunged back into the water, returning to the kingdom below.
Royal stand in front of Luca, who was lying motionless, gazing at the sky with awe.
"Are you alright?" Royal asked, carefully observing the child for any signs of distress.
"...Yes, of course," Luca replied, his voice soft yet steady.
"Come on, I'll take you to your father," Royal said, lifting the boy with ease. With a powerful leap, he took to the skies, soaring toward the location where Arthur was waiting.
As they landed, Arthur's face lit up with a mix of relief and gratitude.
"Luca! You're safe!" Arthur exclaimed, pulling his son into a tight embrace. Tears streamed down his face as he thanked Royal repeatedly.
Mera, who had already reunited with her family, joined the heartfelt moment. She burst into tears, wrapping her arms around both Arthur and Luca in a warm embrace.
Royal watched the scene silently, a faint smile crossing his face. Without a word, he stepped back, giving the family their space. Then, with a burst of energy, he soared into the sky, heading toward the Straw Hat crew.
From the distance, he could sense the intensity of the confrontation between Luffy and Hody. The battle appeared to be reaching its climax, the air thick with the anticipation of its conclusion.
Shirahoshi's fervent cheer for Luffy's victory reverberated through the waters, her voice filled with hope and determination. To everyone's surprise, the Sea Kings responded to her emotions, gathering outside the protective bubble surrounding Fishman Island. Their enormous forms loomed just beyond the barrier, their presence commanding both awe and unease.
Royal's sharp gaze locked onto the massive creatures, his brow furrowing in concern. His instincts kicked in as he prepared to act, suspecting a potential threat. However, before he could make a move, Jinbe's firm hand grasped his arm.
"Wait," Jinbe said, his voice steady yet resolute. "I'm confident everything is under control. Princess Shirahoshi has a unique bond with them."
Royal hesitated, his gaze shifting from Jinbe to Shirahoshi. He could see the determination in her face as she continued to pour her heart into her wishes for Luffy's success. The Sea Kings, despite their intimidating size, showed no signs of aggression; instead, they seemed to mirror Shirahoshi's emotions, watching the unfolding battle with what could almost be described as reverence.
"...If you're sure," Royal finally relented, though he remained vigilant, his senses fully alert.
Jinbe nodded, releasing his grip. "Trust the princess. She has the power to guide them, and they won't harm us unless provoked."
Royal glanced at Shirahoshi again, relaxing slightly but keeping his stance ready—just in case.
The battle reached its thrilling conclusion as Luffy delivered his finishing blow. With his body coiled in tension, steam rising from his heated form, he launched himself toward Hody Jones with explosive force.
"Gomu Gomu no... Red Hawk!" Luffy roared, his fist igniting in fiery flames mid-strike, creating a blazing trail as it cut through the air.
Hody, still high on the effects of his energy steroids, charged recklessly to counter the attack, but the overwhelming power behind Luffy's technique was unstoppable. The fiery punch connected squarely with Hody's chest, sending a shockwave that rippled through the ocean. The flames engulfed Hody briefly, extinguished by the surrounding water yet leaving behind a trail of defeat as the Fishman was launched into the distance, crashing hard against the arena's walls.
The cheers erupted from all corners of Fishman Island. Citizens who had been cowering in fear began to shout in celebration, their spirits reignited by the victory.
Shirahoshi's eyes welled with tears of relief and joy. "Luffy-sama... you did it!" she cried, her voice trembling with admiration.
Jinbe crossed his arms, a small smile of approval on his face. "That boy... he's truly remarkable."
Royal, who had been watching from a higher vantage point, nodded.
Luffy stood victorious, breathing heavily but with a wide grin on his face. He raised a fist in the air, signaling his triumph. The crew cheered loudly, their faith in their captain reaffirmed once again.
As the debris settled, the citizens of Fishman Island began to emerge, stepping forward to reclaim their home. The nightmare of Hody Jones was over, and with it, a new sense of hope began to spread across the island.
