Chapter 18:

Chapter 18:

After sending a few messages on WeChat, Jiang Feng was interrupted by the sound of the school bell before the other person could respond.

“Do you want to go to the cafeteria together?” Lin Yiyi blushed as she glanced shyly at Jiang Feng.

Looking at the calm, handsome man in front of her, her heart fluttered. She hadn’t realized before just how good-looking her classmate was—he was even more attractive than the actors on TV.

Xu Qingya’s ears perked up when she overheard Lin Yiyi inviting Jiang Feng to eat. She clenched her fists tightly, feeling a rush of anger.

How long had it been since they broke up? And now, he was already involved with someone new?

He hadn’t even come to see her lately!

Xu Qingya felt an overwhelming mix of jealousy, frustration, and sadness. She wanted to rush over and pull Jiang Feng away immediately. After all, Jiang Feng was her boyfriend. How could this girl dare?

“Qingya? Are you even listening to me?” He Minglang asked, his face darkening as he followed her gaze. He saw Jiang Feng packing his things near the window and clenched his fists. An inexplicable jealousy rose within him. It was Jiang Feng again.

“Huh? What did you just say?” Xu Qingya forced a smile, pretending she hadn’t been distracted. “I didn’t catch that. Shall we go get dinner?”

She raised her voice deliberately and said sweetly, “Brother Minglang, if you’re still not feeling well, I’ll go get food for you. You don’t have to go and squeeze into the cafeteria.”

He Minglang coughed weakly, “I’m not that fragile.”

“But I’d feel awful if something happened to you.” Xu Qingya replied, looking at him with concern.

“Alright, dear.” He said, a little amused.

Uninterested in their public display, Jiang Feng continued to pack his things. Just as he was about to leave for the cafeteria with his sister, someone suddenly blocked his path.

“Xiao Feng, can we have dinner together? I have something to talk to you about,” He Minglang said. He stood in front of Jiang Feng, looking frail in his oversized school uniform. His pale face seemed drained of all color, as if a gust of wind could blow him over.

“No need. We have nothing to talk about,” Jiang Feng replied coldly. “If you’re here to speak on behalf of Jiang Jiandang, save it. The divorce is final.”

“But…” He Minglang’s eyes reddened as he choked back tears. “Uncle Jiang is a good man. He’s helped my sister and me so much over the years. I know you think my illness is a burden on him, so I’ll stop my treatment.”

“How can you say that?” Xu Qingya rushed over, looking distressed. “Brother Minglang, don’t give up! We’ve already started a fundraiser online. The netizens are so supportive—they’ll help you! You can’t lose hope.”

He Minglang smiled bitterly, “Thank you, Qingya. I appreciate your kindness, but I know my own body. I just want to enjoy the school atmosphere while I still can. I don’t want you all fighting because of me, and I certainly don’t want Xiao Feng to cause trouble at home.”

A glint of light suddenly caught Jiang Feng’s attention. His sharp instincts, honed from past experiences, made him suspicious.

Was someone taking photos?

He chuckled to himself. He Minglang wasn’t as innocent as he appeared. At such a young age, he was already using public sympathy to manipulate others. The original owner of this body had suffered greatly in the past, and now Jiang Feng understood why.

Seeing Jiang Feng remain silent, He Minglang’s tears flowed freely, and he looked like he could collapse at any moment. “Xiao Feng, I never intended to take your father away. Teacher Jiang only loaned me the money for my treatment. I plan to repay him one day. I never imagined that because of this, Auntie would divorce Uncle Jiang. Please, I’m begging you—can’t you forgive Teacher Jiang just this once? He only wanted to help me. You’re his son, the one he truly cares about.”

The students nearby were touched by his words.

“Wow, Mr. Jiang is really going through a tough time these days,” one whispered. “He’s been hanging around Ms. Song’s office every day, apologizing nonstop.”

“Mr. Song is actually a great guy. He’s always so patient and never loses his temper. I wish my dad were like that,” another added.

“I think Jiang Feng is being too harsh. He’s acting this way just because he resents He Minglang,” a third chimed in. “It’s too much.”

Jiang Feng shot them a glance. “Don’t bother wasting your time. Neither my mother nor I will forgive him.”

With that, he stood up to leave.

“Jiang Feng!” Xu Qingya shouted, her anger boiling over. “How can you be so heartless?”
