You Were Made to Be Cannon Fodder, but Ended Up a Winner in Life?

Chapter 7:

Chapter 7: Humble Love 7:

Zhang Ya clearly remembered how the supervisor had looked at her ever since she joined the company.

He had always been courteous and eager to please, just like the group leaders currently surrounding her.

But now, his gaze was filled with contempt and ridicule.

It made Zhang Ya’s eyelids twitch.

On her first day, she was escorted into the company by the chairman’s assistant!

How dare he look at her like that?

Anger flared within Zhang Ya.

“Supervisor, if there’s nothing important, please move aside. We’re going to lunch.”

Zhang Ya spoke bluntly, without a hint of courtesy.

The room instantly fell silent.

But within moments, all the employees around them cast envious glances her way.

Only Zhang Ya would dare speak to a supervisor like that.

But then again, it wasn’t surprising—after all, she had been personally escorted into the company by the chairman’s assistant.

She could speak this way not just to a supervisor but even to senior executives if she wanted.

That was the power of having strong backing.

Envy was inevitable.

Everyone expected the supervisor to quietly step aside.

“Lunch? Did you finish your work?”

The sneer and contempt in Supervisor Li Jun’s eyes deepened as he spoke, his tone cold.

The words made Zhang Ya freeze in place.

The others in the office exchanged puzzled looks.

Zhang Ya had been with the company for over half a month, and everyone knew she didn’t actually do any work; she was just there for “experience.”

Nobody had dared to assign her tasks.

Yet now, the supervisor was asking if she had finished her work?

“Supervisor, are you joking?”

Zhang Ya clenched her fists, her voice laced with fury.

“Who do you think you are? You’re not worth joking with.”

Li Jun glanced at her dismissively.

“From today on, you’ll handle all the interns’ tasks. You can’t leave until they’re done!”

What was going on?

Why was the supervisor speaking to Zhang Ya like this?

Many employees watched, stunned.

Zhang Ya had been personally escorted into the company by the chairman’s assistant.

Wasn’t the supervisor afraid she’d complain to the chairman?

While disbelief spread among the employees, the group leaders who had surrounded Zhang Ya exchanged glances and stepped back, creating distance.

They were experienced enough to understand that the supervisor’s behavior must have been authorized from above.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare act this way.

But why?

Wasn’t Zhang Ya supposed to have connections with the chairman?

The group leaders speculated, their thoughts racing.

“Impossible! Why should I do the work of several interns?”

Zhang Ya’s face turned pale, and she refused immediately without a second thought.

Not only had she learned little during her university years, but she barely understood any of the tasks.

Assigning her all the interns’ duties was out of the question.

She knew how exhausting the interns’ work was. The ones in her office arrived earliest and left latest, handling not only their tasks but also cleaning and running errands.

There was no way she would do any of that!

“Supervisor, does the chairman know you’re doing this?”

Her face darkened, and she issued a direct threat.

“Do you think I’d dare act without the chairman’s instructions?” Li Jun sneered.

His words made Zhang Ya’s face change drastically.

“Impossible. The chairman wouldn’t order this—you’re lying!”

“Believe what you want. Feel free to take it up with the chairman—oh, wait, I forgot, you don’t actually know the chairman.”

Li Jun’s mocking gaze lingered on her before turning to address the rest of the office.

“Allow me to reintroduce Zhang Ya. Zhang Ya, 24, from a poor rural area. She got into our company thanks to her boyfriend’s father, who is good friends with our chairman.”

“But as of today, she and her boyfriend have broken up.”

Li Jun’s brief explanation left the entire office buzzing with surprise and curiosity.

So that was it?

Zhang Ya’s connections were entirely due to her boyfriend?

The man who had been seen coming to the company and acting subservient to her!

Many people exchanged knowing glances.

They had seen Chen Nuo—a well-mannered, capable young man—visiting.

But Zhang Ya had always treated him poorly.

Until now, they had assumed her background was far superior to his.

But it turned out…

“Poor background? But Zhang Ya wears luxury brands. I thought she bought them herself, but clearly, it was her boyfriend.”

“Wow, I didn’t expect this.”

“So, she had no connections at all—it was all her boyfriend’s influence.”

“The breakup is great. I saw how she treated that young man—like a servant.”

The office buzzed with low murmurs.

Though the voices were hushed, the collective noise was still loud.

With every whisper, disdain grew in the eyes of those who glanced at Zhang Ya.

She had used her boyfriend’s status to flaunt herself and even mistreated him?

This breakup couldn’t have come at a better time!

“What nonsense are you talking!”

Hearing the murmurs and seeing the contemptuous glances, Zhang Ya’s face darkened even more. She glared at Li Jun and shouted, her eyes burning with resentment.

She hadn’t expected him to expose her background so bluntly.

A poor rural upbringing.

Dependent on her boyfriend.

Her hatred for Li Jun deepened.
