Chapter 2:
Chapter 2: Humble Love 2:
Chen Nuo pondered his thoughts and then turned his head, noticing the slightly messy state of the house.
Recalling Zhang Ya’s words before she left, instructing him to clean, a cold sneer appeared on his face.
Clean the house?
She should be the one cleaning it!
And then there was the demand for one hundred thousand yuan, supposedly for the renovation of her family’s house in the countryside.
Yet when the previous owner spent 30 yuan on fruit for his parents, it was unacceptable, but she had no issue brazenly asking for 100,000 yuan.
She even used marriage as a threat.
“Heh…”
Chen Nuo picked up his phone and called his supervisor at the internet company to request a day off.
“What’s wrong, Xiao Nuo? Did something happen at home?”
The supervisor, after approving Chen Nuo’s leave, asked with concern.
“It’s nothing serious, Supervisor—just some personal matters. I’ll be back to work as usual tomorrow.”
Hearing the supervisor’s caring tone, Chen Nuo replied with a smile.
“Alright, take care of things first. Let me know if you need more time off.”
“Thank you, Supervisor.”
Chen Nuo hung up the phone.
The previous Chen Nuo, despite his introverted personality, had always been a model student, excelling academically. In college, he studied computer science and was very gifted in it.
If it not been for the burden of taking care of Zhang Ya and her difficult family, with his talent, the previous Chen Nuo would have had a bright future in computing.
By the time he resigned, he had become the company’s Deputy Director of Technology, and even the CEO tried to persuade him to stay.
“Brother, love is fine, but it has to go both ways.”
Chen Nuo shook his head and began packing up Zhang Ya’s belongings from the house.
The previous owner’s wishes were straightforward to fulfill.
Making Zhang Ya regret was simple enough.
All he had to do was stop being her provider.
Currently, Zhang Ya’s job was arranged by the previous Chen Nuo’s parents at a large trading company.
Her salary wasn’t low, but she was still in the internship period.
It wasn’t that Chen Nuo looked down on her, but if he threw her out and refused to let her stay in the house, her current salary of just over three thousand yuan during the internship wouldn’t be enough to cover rent and food expenses on her own—she’d practically starve!
Step one: kick Zhang Ya out!
…
(At ShieldFlash Network Security Company)
“Ah.”
Supervisor Zhao Gang sighed after ending the call.
He admired Chen Nuo’s talent and skill in computing.
Chen Nuo was also a hardworking and earnest employee.
Unfortunately, his taste in choosing a girlfriend was lacking.
Zhao Gang shook his head. He had met Zhang Ya during a department gathering when Chen Nuo brought her along.
From the first glance, Zhao Gang had sensed her ill intentions and the way she manipulated Chen Nuo emotionally.
Despite a few subtle warnings, Chen Nuo hadn’t paid them any mind, maintaining a naive belief in their genuine love.
After that, Zhao Gang gave up on mentioning it.
Still, he felt sorry for Chen Nuo.
Getting entangled with such a “phoenix woman” was a tough situation.
…
In a few hours, Chen Nuo had packed up all of Zhang Ya’s belongings from the house.
Two large bags and one small bag.
The large bags contained clothes, while the small bag held jewelry.
Most of the clothes were luxury items, and the jewelry was also quite valuable.
Given that Zhang Ya had only been interning for a short time, there was no way she could afford such items.
Everything was bought by the previous Chen Nuo.
Since getting together, he had covered all such expenses for her.
Carrying the bags, Chen Nuo walked out of the house.
Of course, before leaving, he changed the locks on the door.
…
At a secondhand luxury store, Chen Nuo sold off Zhang Ya’s items.
Initially, he had thought about packing her things and returning them to her. But seeing that everything was bought by the previous Chen Nuo, he changed his mind.
Those items were, in the end, his.
Even so, Chen Nuo now regretted not making Zhang Ya take off the clothes she wore that morning—after all, he had paid for them too.
“Sir, we’ve transferred the money for these clothes and jewelry to the bank account you provided. Please check.”
The store staff interrupted Chen Nuo’s regretful thoughts.
Ding.
A second later, Chen Nuo’s phone chimed.
It was a bank notification.
[Your Bank account ending in 1478 has received a transfer of 170,974 yuan. Current balance: 170,975 yuan.]
Seeing the bank message, Chen Nuo sighed inwardly for the previous Chen Nuo.
He only had 1 yuan left in his account after spending so much on Zhang Ya.
And this was just the clothing and jewelry, not counting her university tuition, living expenses, or the money sent to her family.
Altogether, it was an astronomical sum.
Shaking his head, Chen Nuo left the secondhand luxury store.
He hailed a taxi and sat in the back seat.
“To Qianda Shopping Plaza.”
He planned to buy some gifts for the previous owner’s parents before visiting them.
Since Zhang Ya’s job was arranged by his parents, and since he no longer intended to be with her, that job arrangement would need to be rescinded as well.
And he needed to be honest with his parents about his intentions.
Though the plotline hadn’t reached the point of changing the ownership of the new home, his parents had repeatedly warned him that Zhang Ya was no good.
Yet the previous Chen Nuo had ignored their advice.
An hour later, Chen Nuo finished shopping and called his parents.
