Chapter 65 - Old Photos I
The sun gradually set, and the cold wind became biting again. The patients on the grass returned to the ward in groups of twos and threes. They all looked relaxed, chatting and laughing with the nurses, and they seemed to have received good treatment and care in this hospital.
Bai Xi was curious. “Were there really people with superpowers among them?”
“People with superpowers couldn’t be distinguished by their appearance, but since Liang Yi said there were, there was no need for him to lie,” Han Zhuo said. “After all, if we wanted to check, it was easy.”
“Excuse me,” Zhou Yong suddenly knocked on the door. “The teacher asked me to express his apology. He has to have dinner with his family tonight, so he have to ask you two to leave early.”
“Family?” Han Zhuo and Bai Xi looked at each other and smiled. “Okay, we’ll leave now.”
“One more thing is my personal request.” Zhou Yong looked a little hesitant but continued, “It’s about my wife. After she had quietly gotten out of danger, although she no longer depressed and blamed herself as before, she rarely spoke and was worried all day long. I am afraid that she would get into trouble with herself, so I wanted to ask Mr. Han to enlighten her.”
“Me?” Han Zhuo was surprised. “Why did Director Zhou think I had the ability to enlighten your wife?”
“…Because I don’t know who else to go to.” Zhou Yong chose to confess to him and sighed. “She refuses all communication now and even afraid of me. Every day when she stared at the window in a daze, I felt like… without our daughter, she might jump out of there at the next moment.”
First, her daughter had mutated, and then her beloved husband had a second identity—a bloody underground warehouse. She would never have imagined that her husband would be one of the backers of that brutal organization. The combination of these two things was enough to cause that simple little woman, who had been pampered for decades, to have a mental breakdown.
“And you are the most powerful superpower and had a very high prestige in this ethnic group,” Zhou Yong continued to Han Zhuo. “So, you should at least have some positive influence on my wife.”
“I’m not good at talking to people.” Han Zhuo shook his head. Before Zhou Yong could speak, he put his hands on Bai Xi’s shoulders and pushed him forward two steps. “But Xiao Bai can. Last time in H City during the visit, he and Mrs. Zhou had a great time chatting and seemed to have a lot in common.”
Although he was pushed out unprepared, Bai Xi’s reaction speed wasn’t slow. He nodded and agreed without any hesitation, saying, “I also hope that Mrs. Zhou can get out of her psychological shadow as soon as possible.” This sentence was completely true. Even if he couldn’t cooperate with Zhou Yong in the future, he still wanted to help Mrs. Zhou and Zhou Jing get back on the normal track of life.
“Thank you.” Zhou Yong breathed a silent sigh of relief and added, “The people at the institute had evacuated last week, and there are no cameras installed in my house. As for my wife, except for going shopping every morning, she basically doesn’t do anything after ten o’clock. She is always at home, so you could go anytime.”
Bai Xi asked, “Do I need to call in advance?”
“It’s fine,” Zhou Yong said. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t contact her. The teacher once said that you were one of the few people in the world who would never hurt her.”
This was a pretty high-trust rating. After Zhou Yong left, Bai Xi looked at the photo in his hand and asked, “Do you want to teleport to this address?”
“Now?” Mr. Han looked at the time. “Four o’clock in the afternoon?”
“I am very worried about Mrs. Zhou,” Bai Xi said truthfully.
“Okay.” Han Zhuo looked at him with a smile. “In our family, you have the final say.”
The car drove smoothly on the road. Bai Xi sat in the passenger seat and was lost in thought. Besides Mrs. Zhou, whom he was about to meet, he was also thinking about Liang Yi. He had originally thought that Liang Yi was a scientific madman like Wu Zigang, but now it seemed that… there was still a difference between the two—at least Liang Yi knew how to enjoy love and life, and was willing to give up meeting with the most powerful person in order to spend the weekend with his girlfriend.
“You are often dazed recently,” Han Zhuo said while driving.
“Will Mr. Liang really marry Ms. Zhuang?” Bai Xi asked. “Will he become Mark Li’s stepfather?”
“This has nothing to do with that director,” Han Zhuo said.
“I think he could still help at some point,” Bai Xi sincerely suggested. “Why don’t you try to get rid of your prejudice against him first, and then we can discuss this matter?”
Mr. Han said without thinking, “Can’t do it.”
Not only was he unable to think about it, but he also wanted to pack up Mark Li and throw him into outer space so he could concentrate on filming hundreds of episodes of an interstellar version of a life-and-death love affair, while taking away the colourful roses and Shakespeare, and making the world quiet.
Bai Xi pouted. “Stingy guy.”
“If I was really stingy, I would lock you up at home.” Han Zhuo suddenly stopped the car, took off his seatbelt with one hand, and pulled Bai Xi into his arms. “I never wanted to hide my possessiveness.”
“Stop, stop, stop!” Bai Xi covered his mouth with both hands. “We have to do business.”
“Close your eyes,” Han Zhuo ordered.
Seriously? Bai Xi took a step back and said, “Kiss me.”
“Kiss?” Han Zhuo was confused. “But I just want to teleport with you.”
Bai Xi: “…”
He slowly turned his head and looked out the car window, and sure enough, they had arrived at the office building.
