You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 48 - The Cold and Handsome Guy Suddenly Appeared I

Zhou Jinshan had a lot of connections in the local area, and he quickly settled the matter. Only two hours later, he drove to the police station and took the man back to the bar.

In the quiet private room, Mrs. Zhou held a cup of hot tea in her hands, and her body trembled uncontrollably. In addition to the shock she had just received, it was also because of Bai Xi and Han Zhuo sitting opposite her. For more than 40 years, she had been accustomed to hiding her true identity in front of everyone, and the supernatural power that had never appeared before often gave her the illusion of being an “ordinary person.”

The past years had been too comfortable and stable, so when the accident happened, she hadn’t even made any psychological preparations. She could only stand there and watch her fantasy be shattered by reality.

Her identity was exposed—and exposed in front of her daughter’s classmates.

This was her only thought at the moment.

“Auntie Zhou,” Bai Xi comforted her, “Don’t worry, the police won’t leave any records, and no more people will know about this.”

“Then, what about the man?” Mrs. Zhou asked uneasily. At the same time, she tightened her fingers unconsciously and explained, “I just pushed him lightly.”

“He has a fracture. We have gone to the hospital to apologize and paid a large sum of compensation. His family expressed their willingness to accept this treatment and promised they won’t pursue it any further,” Bai Xi said. “And he was drunk at the time, so he didn’t know how he fell.”

Hearing this, Mrs. Zhou finally felt a little relieved. She hesitated for a moment and then asked Bai Xi, “Are you also a superpower?” The rest of the people at the scene noticed that even when she mentioned the word “superpower,” she said it in a very entangled and embarrassed way, as if she was extremely repulsed by this identity and deeply ashamed of it.

Bai Xi nodded readily. “Yes.”

“We are all the same kind of people, so you don’t have to be so nervous,” Han Zhuo smiled, his voice very gentle. “No matter what the problem is, I think Xiao Bai will be happy to help solve it.”

“I have no problem, but my daughter doesn’t know anything about it.” When talking about Zhou Jing, Mrs. Zhou’s face became obviously anxious. “I am very worried about her.”

“Has Zhou Jing ever shown any abnormality in all these years?” Bai Xi asked.

“No, never,” Mrs. Zhou denied. “She has always been normal.”

“What about you?” Bai Xi asked again. “What happened in the Miami Hotel? And, it is almost a semi-public pornographic venue, and the guest reviews are very bad. There are obviously many hotels nearby to choose from. Why did you want to stay at Miami?”

“I don’t know,” Mrs. Zhou said awkwardly. “I have never travelled far alone. When I usually go out, my husband does these things, but I didn’t want him to know this time, so I found a hotel closest to the tavern—I thought all hotels were the same.”

As for the unlucky man, he had drunk too much and ran into the wrong door. As soon as he got out of the elevator, he rushed into Mrs. Zhou’s guest room with drunken eyes and began to take off his clothes in a hurry. As a result, the next moment, he was “gently” pushed out of the window by the panicked Mrs. Zhou.

“Didn’t you close the door?” Bai Xi asked puzzled.

“There was a strong smell of smoke in the room; I wanted to get some fresh air,” Mrs. Zhou replied.

Bai Xi and Han Zhuo looked at each other and confirmed one thing. Mrs. Zhou must have been really loved by her husband; she had been treated like a princess for more than 20 years, so much so that she had no experience of living alone now. She didn’t check hotel reviews on the app, was completely defenceless against Miami’s pornographic and explicit decor, and didn’t even know to close the door.

“I also wanted to take a bottle of pomegranate juice,” Mrs. Zhou said. “For Jingjing.”

“Of course, but I have a suggestion. It’s best to confess everything to your daughter,” Han Zhuo said. “At least this way, she can be mentally prepared.”

Mrs. Zhou shook her head and said nothing.

But the others didn’t urge her. After all, given her personality, she would still need a long period of psychological struggle. Zhou Jinshan helped prepare a new residence right next to Bai Xi and Han Zhuo.

By the time everything was arranged, it was completely dark.

The instant noodles in the pot had turned into a sticky mass and had to be thrown into the trash can. Han Zhuo asked, “Can I make another one for you?”

Bai Xi had no appetite at all. He buried his face in Mr. Han’s arms and said hoarsely, “I want to sleep for a while.”

“Don’t you want to eat instant noodles?” Han Zhuo asked. “Your favourite junk food.”

Bai Xi still shook his head.

Han Zhuo patted his back and hugged him tighter.
