Chapter 42 - A Very Pleasant and Relaxing Thing II
Bai Xi wiped the sauce from his fingers and continued cooking according to the recipe.
Before this, he had never been in the kitchen, but in order to repay Mr. Han for taking him in for a night, and because he was bored at home alone, he finally decided to challenge his life to a new level.
Liu Chunchun was happily mopping the floor at home when he suddenly received a video call from his boss. He felt guilty and immediately stood at attention and explained, “Brother Bai, I am taking a legitimate leave today and have already asked for leave from the human resources department.”
“Okay, then stop what you are doing. You will work overtime today.” Bai Xi waved his hand boldly. “Just teach me how to cook.”
“Really?” Liu Chunchun was overjoyed. “Okay, what do you want to make?”
Bai Xi recalled the dishes that Mr. Han usually liked to eat and said, “Pork ribs fried in sauce, fried whole duck, braised pork with chestnuts.”
“With all due respect,” Liu Chunchun sat on the sofa, “for novices, I still recommend scrambled eggs with tomatoes, cucumbers, and preserved eggs mixed with tofu.”
“Is your dad such a talentless person?” Bai Xi chopped the cutting board with a knife. “Hurry up!”
Liu Chunchun succumbed to the power of the bully, winced, and admitted defeat. “Okay, okay, but I warn you in advance that the failure rate may be as high as 80%.”
Bai Xi pointed the phone camera at the cooking table, and Liu Chunchun casually touched an apple and gnawed on it. “Blanch the ribs, yes, yes, just put them in cold water. Not bad, Brother Bai! You have talent!”
How to give flattery? Just like this—natural, comfortable, subtle, and leaving no trace.
“New Oriental Level 9!”
“Executive chef of a five-star hotel!”
“A master of state banquets!”
“Excellent knife skills!”
“Stop, stop!” Liu Chunchun threw the apple aside. “Stop!”
Bai Xi: “…”
“Don’t add cold water, boil water,” Liu Chunchun corrected.
Bai Xi felt he was so noisy that he felt dizzy. As soon as he asked for boiling water, he stretched out his hand to hold the ceramic kettle and heated it with his hand.
“Brother Bai, what are you touching? You need to boil the water.” Liu Chunchun looked confused.
A thunderclap seemed to explode over Bai Xi’s head.
He quickly retracted his hand and said calmly, “It feels good.”
“I think you should find a girlfriend.” Liu Chunchun suggested with a hint of pity. Even a kettle felt good when he touched it, which was just sad.
Han Zhuo reached out and turned off the screen.
Bai Xi trembled with fright. “When did you come back?”
“A minute ago.” Han Zhuo took the spatula from his hand. “But you seemed busy, so you didn’t notice the sound of my door opening.”
“You stopped my remote teaching, so I have to do the remaining steps by myself.” Bai Xi took off the apron and hung it around Han Zhuo’s neck. “I also want to eat mustard cabbage and stir-fried shrimp.”
Han Zhuo smiled. “Why do you suddenly want to cook by yourself? You turned the kitchen into a disaster zone.”
“Because I was hungry and you never came back.” Bai Xi stood by the stove and watched him busy. “Has your friend’s family dispute been resolved?”
Han Zhuo thought for a while and said, “Half the problem is solved.”
“What about the other half?” Bai Xi helped him wash the green onions.
“There’s still half of it. You need to give me a little more time.” Han Zhuo said, “Okay?”
“You ask me?” Bai Xi pointed to his nose.
Han Zhuo stuffed a mini tomato into his mouth. “Go to the living room.”
“No.” Bai Xi refused. He wanted to continue to stand in the kitchen and not be a master who ate and drank.
.
In the distant beach sanatorium, Gwen was describing to Daisy how her little nephew’s emotional changes had stabilized a lot, and there was finally a slight sign of relaxation.
“He seemed to be doing something very pleasant and relaxing,” Gwen said.
Daisy gasped.
Gwen also gasped, but she quickly wondered. “But isn’t it a little too relaxed?”
Daisy asked, “How relaxed?”
“It’s hard to describe,” Gwen tilted her head and thought for a moment before saying decisively, “But it’s definitely not what we thought.”
“What about kissing?” Daisy continued to think. “Pleasurable, relaxing, enjoyable, and stress-free.”
“Completely consistent!” Gwen snapped her fingers excitedly.
Daisy was extremely sure. “Then they must be kissing!”
Mr. Han moved skillfully and poured a plate of vegetables into the pot.
Pleasant, enjoyable and stress-free cooking.
