Yandere Simulator Life

Chapter 8: Game On

"You like her so much, don't you, lad?" The God of Webnovel chuckled as we sat down in the center of the universe, where the stars served as our seats and a rare, otherworldly drink filled our cups.

This drink, brewed from a unique herb cultivated on the Mars Colony in another universe entirely, was as exquisite as it was rare. The thought of it, its origins and the cosmic grandeur surrounding us, effortlessly surfaced in my mind, drawn forth by the cultured deity before me.

"She was cute, of course I do," I replied, taking a sip from the teacup that the most cultured god in existence had offered me. The moment the liquid touched my lips, my mind felt entirely at ease, and every last bit of tension that had plagued me was swept away, dissolving with just a single drink in my hand.

I couldn't help but think, this is how a truly cultured god welcomes his guests, unlike the lame God named ROB who barely know hospitality.

"So, is this just filler or something?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Well, you see, we've already wrapped up one storyline with its proper ending, but even divine beings like me need to take a breather. You know the rules of webnovels—it's always better to write a filler than leave the readers without an update," the God of Webnovel chuckled, a gleam of humor in his eyes.

"I'm honestly out of ideas for now," he continued, "and, even if something struck me from watching you, well… after completing one story arc and bringing its storyline to a satisfying close, I'd much rather take it easy for a while. Don't you think it's better to enjoy life in the moment, boy?"

"Yeah, I feel the same way. Taking a break sounds nice. I mean, who wouldn't want to sit here, sipping tea and watching the birth of galaxies and the destruction of planets? It sounds like a fantastic vacation," I replied sarcastically, which only made the God of Webnovel chuckle even more.

"That's the spirit, my boy!" He clapped and then slurped down the entire contents of the teacup in his hand.

"Anyway, I don't just want to talk about this—or to make this whole chapter feel like filler. No, I'm here to tell you, boy, don't abuse the Hall of Achievement. You shouldn't mess around with yanderes, especially because they'll retain all memories from every world line. Even in the Hall of Achievement, your character is undoubtedly acting very out of character, which clearly reveals the flaw that you retain memories from previous timelines. Your girl will certainly remember this inconsistency and never give you another chance to date other girls."

"Imagine the mess. You didn't want to get close to Arisu in public before, yet suddenly, you're being inconsistent, getting close to her, even having public sex with her. And when she's sober, she'll certainly notice the difference between this timeline and the previous one. You noticed the discrepancy and exploited it for both your convenience and hers, but she'll, of course, pick up on this change once you reach the true ending. When more heroines unlock their memories and realize these differences, she will certainly notice you."

"What will you do if she realizes that you have memories with her, yet didn't date her and instead pursued numerous other girls?"

"I suppose I don't need to spell it out for you. You know the answer yourself."

"So, why are you warning me about it?" I asked, wondering.

"Hah... Finding the perfect protagonist for a yandere story is harder than I thought, lad," he lamented. "I hope you don't end up suffering trauma and mental problem—that's all."

"There are still things I don't quite understand yet. What's the point of this game in the first place?" I asked.

"In every story, the protagonist typically has an ultimate goal, whether it's power, wealth, or the pursuit of women. But what about me? Can simply dating girls in every world and completing their routes really count as a true goal or purpose in life?" I questioned, looking for clarity.

"I don't know, to be honest," shrugged the Webnovel God.

He continued, "Let me turn the question back on you, boy. When you read a story on a webnovel site, do you always need a specific reason to do so? The answer is both yes and no. At first, you read just to waste the time. And then, of course, you read here because this is one of the few R-18 sites left untouched by the cuckold fetish, unlike most other R-18 sites where cuckold protagonists seem to be everywhere. Sure, there's the occasional piece of garbage here, too, with writers trying to slip in cuckold content, but we took care of them and threw them into the deep pit of Gay Paradise—a hell filled with gay men who will gladly take their butts. What I'm trying to imply is this: don't overthink it. If you enjoy it, why worry so much about having a specific goal?"

"You've hit the nail on the head," I admitted. "I've noticed that Pixiv, AO3, Syosetu, and even many Chinese R-18 sites are flooded with cuckold protagonists."

"Exactly," he chuckled. "If their stories are that unbearable, why not create a better one yourself? I'm watching your career with great interest, lad."

He shifted slightly, taking a sip from his teacup before continuing. "Now, let's move on to the second explanation. I'm quite sure you have questions about the side heroines who aren't yandere but still have their own routes in the yandere heroine's storyline. Take, for instance, your sister, Arisu Sakayanagi."

He leaned in, his tone more conspiratorial. "So far, you've encountered three side heroines: Fuuka Kiryuin, Shiina Hiyori, and Karuizawa Kei in choice. They each have their own available routes within your sister's storyline. You can confidently pursue them, and to unlock the 'True Route' for your sister, you'll need to explore all routes available. These are the rules of all galgames—they're divided into Bad Endings, Good Endings, Secret Endings, and True Endings. The True Ending is only achievable once you've explored all the good, bad, and hidden aspects of the game. Upon reaching the True Ending, you'll unlock more features, more waifus, and a special world. Not only that, but every heroine you've conquered will retain memories of you and each storyline, for better or worse, across all world lines."

He looked at me with a calm expression, the teacup still in hand. "So, any other questions?"

"Can I go into worlds like Mobuseka, Overlord, Redo of Healer, Fate, Goblin Slayer, or any others if I finish every route available?" I asked, hopeful and eager.

"Of course! Every world will open up for you, lad," the Webnovel God replied, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Not only do you seem thrilled at the idea, but I also want to see just how far this golden finger of mine—that little power I bestowed upon you—will take you. Imagine what might happen if you choose Freya's route in Danmachi and where that could lead. The possibilities are exhilarating, don't you think?"

"Your taste is... heavy, Webnovel," I said, barely hiding my look of disgust.

He scoffed. "Huh! You're the one with poor taste, lad. Don't you realize how many people who read webnovel are just dying to bang Freya and claim her for themselves? Otherwise, why do you think fics with Freya as the main waifu are so popular?"

He leaned forward, crossing his arms confidently. "Anyway, I believe in you, lad. I'm confident you'll be able to make her completely devoted to you. And remember, you've got my blessing, which makes a difference. This isn't just about you, after all—there are countless readers out there cheering you on, hoping you'll capture that sultry goddess's heart and make her go full yandere."

"Alright," I replied, not entirely sure what I was getting myself into. "Is there anything else I should know?"

The Webnovel God shrugged. "I dunno, maybe. Ask me later if anything comes up."

He mirrored my nonchalance, giving a dismissive wave.

Then he stood up from his throne-like chair and gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder, his expression shifting to one of wisdom and sage-like confidence.

"Now, good luck, lad. Have a nice day and hope you have a nice journey all along and stay strong."

With that, I was suddenly sucked into a black hole and found myself back at the blue screen of Yandere Simulator Life.

[Do you want to start the game, Player?]

Yeah, let's do this.

I nodded as we began to play our game.

...

After this, I wanted to finish the third ending for this story first before updating it. It was estimated on Saturday or Sunday that I would finish it. The next whole chapters are tied to the third ending, which made it harder to post a chapter without writing the ending first, as the ending I made often deviated from what I mostly wanted to write, and I needed to adapt, fix, and revise it first before posting it.

Yeah, and I will take this opportunity to ask you the question: do you think we should explore all girls in the COTE route or move on to another anime? Or should we only prioritize important heroines like Suzune Horikita, Kushida Kikyo, Kaurizawa Kei, Airi Sakura, or any other important heroines?

My degenerate side wanted to take all girls, but my impatient side wanted to at least get it done fast so we could move on to heroines like Krul Tepes (Seraph of the End), Euphemia li Britannia (Code Geass), Morgan le Fay (Fate), Sayjou Manaka (Fate), Hoshino Ai, Kaguya Shinomiya, or many other girls. Yeah, you know, I will go all out next week. For now, I wanted to cook first and make sure I stay in my prime.
