Chapter 21: 20. The Dragonkin Slayer(1)
"It seems like this is where we separate," Said Eliana, after tying the Yama's set by his waist; Ethan looked up to her with a soft smile, "it was unexpected, but our short collaboration was fruitful." He extended his hand towards her which she gladly shook it.
"Farewell, friend," She said; it was not disrespectful; both understood that either person might be unlucky and die; they clearly knew this world's cruelty towards expectations, so it was preferable, to be honest.
Eliana stood at the rune circle, which glowed; she waved one last time before vanishing towards another dungeon floor, "she chose TALONRILL to hunt; she is sure an interesting person," Said Ethan, walking towards the rune circle, she glowed in a cold frost energy.
{Coming from the guy who selected, Artic Lindworm dungeon, you should keep quiet}
Swoosh!
The next moment, Ethan opens his eyes to a vast desertic plateau of ice and harsh climatic cold winds, tearing his skin in intense frostbite "Luckily we took the dark jacket" It was a piece of equipment with sharp daggers within, and was also comfortable, especially that, Ethan's ups were destroyed went fighting Derek, so the jacket came to handy.
The cold wind rushed at Ethan who tried to cover himself with his shield, visibility was bad, but it did not last as the wind started subsiding, or he started getting used to it, soon, he found himself surrounded by polar grizzly bears, "well, I need to get stronger before encountering the Lindworm" said Ethan, clenching his fist, his gauntlet producing cracking sounds, he started walking towards the monsters, and soon sprinted towards them and jumped high, the bears stood up ready to fight and Ethan came down at them with a rainbow punch of dark gold and blue energy.
***
A giant warm shot out of the thick ice, crashing around the vast canopy of ice, it trashed endlessly as it tried to free itself from the shackles of the dark chain which kept draining its will to resist, dark energy-sipping within its body, restricting his movement.
Clang! Crick!
The cracking sounds of chains were heard; it was as if they were going to snap at any given moment; Ethan's strength, which grew a lot from hunting the passing monster, dragged on the chains.
His physical features had drastically changed, as he did not resemble a kid of twelve years old, but that of a youth of sixteen, with well-defined muscles.
Crack!
His boots cracked the surface ice as he walked towards the Lindworm, who gradually lost his will to fight; he exalted a gold mist out of his body, and his left hand was completely frozen, but his gauntlet kept on heating it, so he did not worry much.
"You were tiring to deal with," said Ethan, brushing away the blood ice on his face; he lifted the Leviathan to the right blade; its dark aura spread out as dark lightning cracked the surface; the giant monster desperately glared at Ethan, who swung the blade forward.
Boom!
Collecting the rune and stats from the monster, he nodded, he acquired a lot of stats from those grizzly bears and other monsters like the pack of giant snow wolves.
"Still to go," He said, walking away from the shrinking carcass of the beast as his vampirism took action, sucking the nutrients away from it; this enabled Ethan to not worry about food.
He stood inside the rune circle, looking around the polar dungeon, he did not have any regrets leaving this white nightmare.
Throwing away the polar grizzly jacket, which he wore on top of his black jacket, and tying the shield on his back, he got ready to move.
Swoosh!
The light spread and he was transported towards the next dungeon.
*
Boom!
The greater reef serpent destroyed the corals as it rushed towards its target, created a twirling arrow in the river, rushing towards Ethan with a roar, Ethan immediately shot his left sword, Halo, towards the sinking Boulder, which dragged him down, the serpent missed him and took a sharp turn ready to strike again, however, Ethan was faster.
Right, leviathan, was shot towards the serpent at full strength, which penetrated the scales of his body.
Clang!
The serpent was dragged down by the boulder towards the deep...
Roar!
The serpent roared in pain and anger, it looked down and realized Ethan wasn't where he was supposed to be, he searched for him, however, when he spotted Ethan, it was already over, he was at the edge of his tail, without any mercy, Ethan's hand took the shape of a blade as an energy weapon manifest.
Slash! Swing!
The serpent's body was cut into two as it tried to defend itself and not die, but eventually sank; Ethan rushed to get the Yama's set before they were dragged into the abyss.
He soon came out of the water trying to catch his breath, he looked towards the island and swam towards it...
*
The left, Halo blade, was shot towards a nearby tree and pulled; like a spider man, Ethan flew from tree to tree, dodging the wrath of the beast chasing after him in a fury.
The red-faced dragon, which has six hands and two back legs, jumped from tree to tree trying to get hold of Ethan.
Ethan shot Leviathan towards another tree and avoided the tree coming at him; he looked back with a frown and landed at a tree; he saw the dragon stretching one of his hands toward a nearby tree; the tree immediately levitated and was sent at Ethan.
Ethan stood up, and with a swing of Leviathan, the tree was split into two; he rushed towards the dragon, who immediately produced a force shield to protect itself from Ethan; this wasn't the first time he was doing this, which annoyed Ethan.
Lifting up another tree, the red face Dragonin shot it towards Ethan, who immediately dodged it midair, but instead of ending there, he turned and sent halo and leviathan towards the tree, tying it up and sending it back at the dragon, eventually, he defended against that, the dragon smiled, thinking that he was going to win, but his overconfidence came at a cost.
The tree was to blind it, as his telekinetic powers did not work if his target was not in sight, which Ethan, through his experience, easily uncovered.
"You were the most annoying," Said Ethan striking from the back; the Dragonin back heard immediately sprouted a hidden eye, "damn!" Ethan immediately clapped his hand, producing a blinding intensity of electric light, slightly blinding the Dragonin, which roared in protest.
Boom!
Those seconds were enough for Ethan to end it with a stroke in his skull with a leviathan, splitting the skull into two.
[Runes collected, Rune skill collected ]
The bracelet sounded, but Ethan wasn't listening, he walked towards the next floor, and surely and consistently, he hunted the beast and dragons of each floor, following the pattern taught to him by those of the Apex, he would acquire all the dragons' skills, or a majority of them before the years of the tower come to an end.
