Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Iron Man vs. Cyborg

---

The Setup

The clearing under the World Tree was still buzzing with energy from the Thor and Wonder Woman clash. Now, two tech geniuses prepared to face off—Tony Stark, the brilliant mind behind Iron Man, and Victor Stone, the cybernetically enhanced hero known as Cyborg.

Tony Stark stepped forward in his sleek, newly developed nano-tech Iron Man suit, the red and gold plating shimmering as the nanobots adjusted to his every movement. His trademark smirk was firmly in place.

"Well, well," Tony said, scanning Cyborg with his HUD. "Look at you. Half man, half machine. Bet you're a hit with the tech support crowd."

Victor Stone didn't rise to the bait. His cybernetic eye glowed faintly as he analyzed Tony's armor. "I could say the same about you, Stark. But I don't need a suit to be what I am."

"Touché," Tony replied, a grin tugging at his lips. "Alright, big guy. Let's see what you've got."

Nick Fury, standing to the side, sighed audibly. "Alright, enough banter. Same rules as always—no killing, no permanent damage, and try to keep the destruction to a minimum. Begin!"

---

The Fight Begins

Tony didn't wait. As soon as Fury's hand dropped, his suit flared to life, repulsors glowing as he shot into the air. Cyborg responded instantly, his arm transforming into a massive cannon that fired a concentrated energy beam. The blast roared through the clearing, forcing Tony to veer sharply to the side.

"Whoa!" Tony exclaimed. "That thing's got some kick."

Cyborg didn't reply. He activated his jet boosters, rocketing into the air to chase Tony. The two tech warriors engaged in a high-speed aerial battle, their energy blasts lighting up the sky. Tony's repulsor beams were precise, but Cyborg's adaptability kept him one step ahead.

---

Grounded Combat

A well-aimed energy pulse from Cyborg struck Tony's shoulder, destabilizing his flight. Tony plummeted to the ground, landing in a controlled roll.

"Alright, so you can hit," Tony muttered, his suit already repairing the damage. "Let's see how you handle this."

He raised his arm, firing a barrage of micro-missiles. The projectiles split into dozens of smaller explosives, arcing toward Cyborg. Victor's systems reacted instantly, deploying an energy shield that absorbed most of the blasts. He landed heavily a few feet from Tony, the ground cracking beneath his weight.

"You're going to need more than fireworks to take me down," Cyborg said.

Tony grinned. "Oh, I've got plenty."

---

Tech vs. Tech

The two fighters closed the distance, engaging in close-quarters combat. Tony's suit extended nanotech blades from his forearms, while Cyborg's arm shifted into a plasma cannon that alternated between firing blasts and blocking Tony's strikes.

Tony ducked under a swing from Cyborg, countering with a repulsor blast to Victor's chest. Cyborg staggered but retaliated with a sonic shockwave that sent Tony skidding back.

"You're good," Tony said, his voice tinged with genuine admiration. "Where'd you get the upgrades? I might want to hire your guy."

Victor smirked. "I built it myself."

Tony's HUD lit up with dozens of alerts as Cyborg's systems hacked into the suit, briefly overriding its flight controls. "What the—are you hacking me?"

Victor shrugged. "I'm half-machine. Comes with the territory."

Tony gritted his teeth, activating a counter-virus that severed Cyborg's connection. "Cute trick, but you're not the only genius here."

---

The Turning Point

Cyborg took advantage of Tony's momentary distraction, unleashing a devastating plasma blast that caught the Iron Man suit square in the chest. Tony was thrown backward, crashing into a tree. His suit groaned under the impact, but the nanotech quickly reassembled the damaged plating.

"Alright," Tony said, his tone shifting to one of focus. "Time to turn up the heat."

The Iron Man suit shifted into its Hulkbuster configuration, its form growing larger and more armored. Tony charged forward, his massive fists slamming into the ground as Cyborg dodged and counterattacked. The ground shook with every collision, their combined strength tearing up the battlefield.

Cyborg's systems began adapting to the Hulkbuster's power, his arm transforming into a high-powered railgun. The weapon fired a hyper-velocity round that punched through Tony's armor, forcing him to retreat.

"You're not bad," Victor said, advancing. "But you rely too much on your tech."

"And you're all tech," Tony shot back, his suit shifting back to its sleeker form. "So what does that say about you?"

---

The Decisive Moment

The fight reached its climax as both combatants unleashed everything they had. Tony activated an EMP pulse, aiming to temporarily disable Cyborg's systems. Victor, anticipating the move, diverted the pulse's energy into his own core, amplifying his next attack.

Cyborg charged forward, his body glowing with raw energy, while Tony countered with a powerful unibeam from his chest reactor. The two attacks collided in a blinding explosion of light and sound, sending both fighters flying in opposite directions.

When the dust settled, Tony was on one knee, his suit sparking but operational. Cyborg stood across from him, his cybernetic components flickering as they worked to repair the damage.

Both men rose to their feet, battered but standing tall.

"Not bad," Tony said, extending a hand. "You're tough. I'll give you that."

Victor hesitated for a moment before shaking Tony's hand. "You're not bad yourself. For a guy in a tin can."

The Aftermath

As the two warriors returned to their teams, the tension eased slightly. The fight had revealed mutual respect, though the rivalry between them remained.

"Nice work out there," Steve Rogers said, clapping Tony on the shoulder.

"Thanks," Tony replied, wincing slightly. "Remind me never to fight a guy who's half supercomputer again."

On the Justice League side, Batman approached Cyborg. "Your adaptability is impressive. But don't get cocky."

Cyborg smirked. "I won, didn't I?"

Batman raised an eyebrow. "Did you?"

Nick Fury stepped forward, his voice cutting through the chatter. "Alright, we're done playing nice. Next up: Hulk versus Aquaman."

The teams turned to face the next pair of combatants, the anticipation building once again.

Daniel POV

From his cosmic perch, Daniel leaned back, satisfied. "That was a good one. Tech vs. tech, brains vs. brains. Exactly what I wanted."

Beside him, the Ancient One nodded. "They are learning to respect each other, but the path to unity is still long."

Daniel grinned. "That's what makes it fun."
