Who Stole My Eggs?

Chapter 21 - II

Huo Yao and Shi Yuan slept until daybreak. When they woke up, both felt a splitting headache.

Shi Yuan groaned, “Oh no, it’s too late. Lu Xiaopang was probably picked up and eaten by the Demon King.”

“Don’t talk nonsense.” Huo Yao stood up, finding burnt incense powder at the windowsill—an incense made from thousand-year-old forgetwort, capable of making an ordinary little deity sleep for a hundred years.

Shi Yuan picked up a long silver-blue hair from the grass outside the door. His expression changed, “It’s Beiyuan Wolf King Alya!”

.

Xie Zuo chased the wolf king, crossed the barrier set by the wolves, and entered a huge valley.

The wolf king jumped onto a towering stone, raised his head, and let out a long howl. The sound echoed, attracting responses from other wolves. With the howls, huge northern wolves appeared from everywhere, all with silver-blue fur and strong bodies, their eyes still serious despite not having seen blood for thousands of years.

The leader of the wolf pack, Alya, the largest and most beautiful, jumped off the stone platform after calling out the group. It circled around Xie Zuo twice, seemingly confirming his identity. Then, Alya laid down on the ground, stating, “Beiyuan Wolf King Alya leads his troops to pay homage to His Majesty the Demon King.”

The other wolves, following Alya’s lead, also laid down on the ground, saluting Xie Zuo.

Xie Zuo sneered, “Don’t play these games with me. Where’s Lu Xiaopang?”

“Here.” A northern wolf appeared, carrying Lu Xiaopang in its mouth.

Upon inspection, Lu Xiaopang had no injuries except for his pale face. Relieved, Xie Zuo said, “Give him to me.”

The Northern Wolf hesitated, glancing at Alya before cautiously stepping back.

Alya stepped forward, “Your Majesty, we swore to Beiyuan Deity, we never harm humans again. Please rest assured.”

“Oh, then what are you doing? Threatening me?”

“Don’t dare,” Alya said, “I just hope that Your Majesty will give us a promise. When you return to the throne in the future, allow our clan to return to the demon world. Five thousand years ago, I failed in the fight against the previous Demon King, leading to our entire clan being expelled to the human world. Three thousand years ago, influenced by Beiyuan Deity, we preserved our demonic power after sharing his flesh and blood. However, we were not allowed to leave this valley for the rest of our lives. Now, meeting Your Majesty, I hope you will permit us to return to our original clan land, so our clan can continue to reproduce.”

Xie Zuo looked around the wolves with cold eyes, “Is this how you ask for help?”

Alya said, “I don’t dare,” but her attitude was very arrogant, and she had no intention of letting go of Lu Xiaopang.

Xie Zuo was very angry. This Wolf King was obviously bullying him because he was young and wanted to coerce him into agreeing. He, Xie Zuo, was a dignified Demon King and hated being threatened the most, especially when children were used for coercion!

He knew nothing about the situation in the Demon world. Who knew what the Demon world had become in the past hundred years? Judging from the inheritance he received, this nest of northern wolves was also a bunch of thorns in the Demon world, so his mother drove them all out. Want to go back so easily? Beautiful thought!

But there was some trouble at the moment. His original body was far away in the abyss. This substitute was useless and couldn’t use any demonic power. How should he teach these northern wolves a lesson? He was careless. He should have woken up Huo Yao.

.

The two parties were in a stalemate. Lu Xiaopang recovered from the shock and slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was Alya standing in front of him, with her ferocious body, sharp fangs, and magical silver-blue fur.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhh, wolf, wolf, wolf, northern wolf!”

Lu Xiaopang was so frightened that he struggled desperately in the wolf’s mouth. “Help, there is a wolf trying to eat me!”

During the struggle, his fat arm scratched the fangs of the northern wolf, and a deep wound opened immediately. The blood quickly gushed out and flowed into the wolf’s mouth.

Alya let out a low growl, “Oops, put him down!”

However, demon wolves who had not tasted flesh and blood for thousands of years, a little bit of flesh and blood could stimulate the desire deep in their souls.

The eyes of the demon wolf holding Lu Xiaopang in its mouth changed from blue to blood red, and its instinct and oath were fighting crazily.

Alya pounced towards it, trying to snatch Lu Xiaopang back, but it dodged her.

“Put it down, Heda! You’ll die if you eat it!” Alya roared.

When the Beiyuan demon wolves devoured the bones and flesh of Beiyuan Deity, they collectively made a vow that anyone who hurt another would die immediately. For years, the wolves lived in this valley and practiced diligently. Without the protection of the clan, they couldn’t give birth to offspring. Seeing the wolf pack diminishing, Alya took this step for the group’s future. If Heda ate Lu Xiaopang, not only will Heda die, but all the wolves would suffer the oath’s backlash.

Not only Heda, but other wolves were also affected by the smell of blood and became restless.

Lu Xiaopang cried loudly, “Help, Little Uncle Xie, please help me, I don’t want to be eaten!”

Alya rushed to Xie Zuo, “Please help me, Your Majesty, stop them from going crazy!”

The situation took a turn for the worse, and Xie Zuo was speechless. He felt these beasts had limited intelligence. Riding on Alya’s back, he raised the wolf bone knife she threw to him. “Come on!”

The wolf bone knife, refined from the first Beiyuan Wolf King’s fangs, was the most powerful weapon among the wolves—a treasure for quelling traitors and rebellions. Its blade flashed with a faint blue light, poisonous and powerful, effectively deterring wolves.

Xie Zuo rode the Wolf King and rushed into the wolf pack.

.

Outside the valley, Huo Yao and Shi Yuan finally tracked down here, spending a lot of effort to break through the wolf barrier.

As soon as the barrier was removed, the loud howling of wolves echoed in the valley, and faint cries of children could still be heard.

Huo Yao and Shi Yuan rushed in without stopping.

Blood dots littered the valley. Seeing Lu Xiaopang’s blood-stained clothes, Shi Yuan shouted, “It’s over! He must have been eaten! None of these monsters can handle blood. They’ll go crazy!”

Huo Yao scanned the area but found no wolves or Xie Zuo. What happened, and why did Xie Zuo join forces with the Beiyuan wolves? Could it be that Xie Zuo…

Tears welled up in Shi Yuan’s eyes as he tightly hugged Lu Xiaopang’s clothes. “These beasts, Huo Er, shake them all out!”

Huo Yao raised his hand, summoning the sky thunder. Darkness enveloped the valley, thunder rumbled overhead, and a dense power grid covered the entire area.

Thunder roared, causing all creatures present to shudder.

Huo Yao’s voice echoed through the valley, more penetrating than thunder: “Xie Zuo, don’t mess around!”

Strangely, under the shock of thunder, not a single wolf ran out. Where were the wolves?

“Huo, Uncle Huo…” Lu Xiaopang’s trembling voice came from the grass below.

“Lu Xiaopang!” Shi Yuan pounced on him, dragging him out. “Great, you’re still alive!”

Aside from being terribly frightened, Lu Xiaopang didn’t suffer serious injuries, and the wound on his arm was bandaged.

Huo Yao recognized at a glance that the cloth bandaging the wound was Xie Zuo’s clothes and asked urgently, “Where is Xie Zuo?”

Lu Xiaopang burst into tears and trembled, “Wolves, wolves went crazy and wanted to eat me. Little Uncle Xie, he cut himself and lured the wolves up.” He pointed tremblingly to the top of the mountain.

“What?” Shi Yuan couldn’t believe it. “He saved you? Huo Er, this…”

No one answered him; Huo Yao had turned into a golden light and shot straight to the top of the mountain.
