Who Said My Wife Is A Demon!

Chapter 5 - Cold-Blooded Zeal

Both sides remained silent, the quietness was terrifying.

Yang Shifei’s mind raced, with various speculations flashing through his mind.

But, this person must be extremely dangerous!

At the same time, he leaned back slightly, his expression surprised. “Brother, what are you doing here?”

“Ah, just a coincidence,” the black-clad figure in the bushes said in a low voice. “I’m from the government, currently chasing a bandit nearby, that’s why I’m lurking here. I hope little brother won’t spread the word, so as not to alert the villain.”

Yang Shifei nodded in understanding, “I won’t spread the word. Please be careful, brother. But may I ask where the villain is hiding?”

“It seems to be lurking around the Luo Mansion,” the black-clad person’s voice grew heavier. “Have you seen any suspicious figures around here recently?”

“I haven’t seen any,” Yang Shifei whispered. “I just arrived in East City and joined Luo Mansion two days ago.”

“Oh? I wonder what’s your relationship with Luo Mansion?”

“Uh, it’s not something I can talk about.”

While talking, Yang Shifei glanced at the silver glint in the bushes out of the corner of his eye.

It’s a knife.

He felt goosebumps all over his body.

Having lived for twenty years in peacetime, seeing such a fierce weapon in this situation naturally made him feel a sense of crisis.

Yang Shifei remained calm, secretly gripping the wooden stick in his hand, and forced a smile, “Brother, you continue with your business, I won’t disturb you.”

With that said, he tried to flip off the wall to leave.

Clang!

The blade suddenly tore through the bushes, slashing down instantly!

Yang Shifei held his breath, feeling the chill exploding all over his body. Subconsciously, he leaned back to dodge the blade, pushing off the wall with his feet to spring several meters away.

As he rolled on the ground in a panic, he quickly looked back to see the black-clad person leaping towards him again, ready to strike!

“You son of a—”

Before Yang Shifei could finish his angry curse, he hurriedly got up to dodge again. The blade almost grazed his forehead and struck the ground, sending up a cloud of dust.

Seeing that two strikes were unsuccessful, the black-clad person seemed taken aback, making a light sound of surprise. But the blade in his hand didn’t stop at all, as he swiftly approached with fast footwork.

Yang Shifei dodged left and right, continuously narrowly avoiding the blade. At the same time, he retreated rapidly, grabbing random objects like wooden frames and bamboo baskets along the way and throwing them out.

But the black-clad person’s attacks were even more fierce and ruthless, easily sweeping aside obstacles with continuous knife techniques under the moonlight.

Crack!

Yang Shifei stumbled backward and rolled, feeling a searing pain in his shoulder.

Without time to catch his breath, he immediately grabbed a handful of soil from the ground and threw it with force.

“Humph!”

The black-clad man waved his sword horizontally, dispersing most of the scattered dust. Just as he was about to pursue, he saw Yang Shifei had retreated more than ten meters away.

Seeing this, his attack paused slightly, his eyes squinting, feeling something strange.

This kid, his footwork was erratic and messy, not like someone who had learned martial arts, and his panicked and disordered stance didn’t resemble that of a martial artist either. But his physical condition was unusually good, being able to continuously avoid a deadly situation purely through reflexes.

Where did this freak come from?

“Whew…”

Yang Shifei’s eyes were alert as he carefully steadied himself.

His heartbeat was extremely fast at the moment, and he could almost hear the thumping in his ears.

But at this moment, he surprisingly didn’t feel the panic of life and death, instead his mind was inexplicably clear. The cold air that had been quietly circulating in his body now turned into a continuous flow of strength, filling his entire body.

Yang Shifei quickly noticed the changes in himself, but didn’t have time to think about it. With a stern face, he said, “I don’t think I’ve provoked anyone.”

“You live here and still want to deny your involvement?” the black-clad man sneered, pointing his sword directly at him. “Just a body-tempering martial artist, I can kill you with one blow using my internal strength.”

Yang Shifei’s mind was clear, immediately realizing that this matter was related to the Luo Mansion next door, and he was probably being unjustly dragged into it.

But faced with imminent danger, he had to retreat again, leaping towards the courtyard wall, and without looking back, he threw the wooden stick in his hand backward.

“Kid, where do you think you’re going!”

The black-clad man’s eyes were filled with killing intent as he clenched the cloth-wrapped knife handle with his strong hands. His figure moved like a black shadow, rushing forward. The long knife in his hand fluttered in the wind, humming, easily deflecting the flying stick, and slashing fiercely toward Yang Shifei’s back.

However, at this moment, Yang Shifei stepped on the courtyard wall and pushed off backward. He flipped in mid-air like a fish, narrowly avoiding the blade by a hair’s breadth.

Before the black-clad man could counterattack, Yang Shifei grabbed his face bone in mid-air, then, with a sudden force in his waist, he forcefully twisted and rotated, slamming his knee into the back of the man’s head.

Bang!

There was a muffled sound, and the black-clad man suddenly groaned and staggered forward, swaying.

Yang Shifei landed and barely steadied himself, enduring the pain in his knee, his eyes bloodshot, and he rushed forward and punched the man fiercely.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One heavy punch after another rained down, making the black-clad man cough uncontrollably.

But perhaps sensing the danger to his life, the man, who was still dizzy, suddenly turned around and slashed horizontally with his knife.

The slash was extremely fast, and Yang Shifei didn’t react in time, only subconsciously raising his right arm—

The next moment, both of their expressions froze.

The blade cut into the flesh, but that was it.

The black-clad man’s eyes were full of disbelief. He had practiced this slash for more than ten years, killed countless people, and thought that this slash could at least sever the boy’s arm, but the feeling was as if he had struck solid iron, instead of causing injury, it shook his hand so much that his palm hurt, almost losing his grip on the knife handle.

And at this moment, Yang Shifei didn’t even feel pain. He only saw blood soaking his sleeve, followed by an inexplicable calmness, as if turning into a precision machine, with gears turning, all the moral principles and etiquette of the past were torn apart, and extremely meticulous killing techniques emerged in his mind.

In the next instant, he twisted his injured right arm to grab the opponent, swept his foot to hit the back of the opponent’s knee, causing him to kneel, and at the same time, he forcefully kneed to knock the long knife out of the opponent’s hand, then clenched his left fist tightly and fiercely punched the back of the guy’s head.

Consecutively striking at vital points, the man couldn’t help but cry out in pain. However, he retaliated with a kick, fiercely hitting Yang Shifei’s chest and abdomen.

Yang Shifei gritted his teeth, retreating several yards, leaving two marks on the ground with the soles of his shoes.

He felt a bitter taste spreading in his throat, and his chest and abdomen felt stuffy and panicked, but with the circulation of the cold air, this discomfort quickly subsided.

Meanwhile, the black-clad man not far away was swaying as he stood up, glaring at Yang Shifei with hatred, then turning to flee in haste.

“Damn it!”

Seeing this, Yang Shifei’s heart surged with determination. His leg muscles tensed, and he exerted his strength to sprint after him.

In the midst of a life-and-death struggle, he couldn’t consider much more, but that look in the man’s eyes… he couldn’t let him escape!

Although he didn’t know the man’s identity, if he let him get away easily, there would surely be endless troubles in the future!

“Don’t even think about running!”

The situation had already turned.

Hearing the loud shout behind him, the black-clad man was both shocked and angry.

He thought he was quite prestigious in the East City area, when had he ever been in such a sorry state!

Just as he jumped out of the courtyard wall and turned around, he saw Yang Shifei also leaping out, his fist smashing toward him.

Bang!

The fists collided, and there was a dull sound.

The black-clad man staggered back several steps, taking a deep breath, feeling his arms numb.

But Yang Shifei, relentless, swiftly approached, raising his fist.

There were successive dull sounds as the two exchanged blows, their arms crossing and swaying, fists alternating. They had started to counter each other’s moves.

But after just a few exchanges, the black-clad man was pushed back step by step. After taking two punches to the face, he was almost completely disoriented.

What on earth is this!

He simply couldn’t understand. The young man in front of him, who had no martial arts skills at all, where did he get such a strong physique? And he didn’t fear pain, never faltered, and played fast, accurate, and ruthless to the extreme. Each punch aimed directly at vital points.

This wasn’t an ordinary person who didn’t learn martial arts, he was clearly a bloodthirsty lunatic!

After the two fists collided head-on, both sides retreated several steps.

“Hold on!”

The black-clad man shouted urgently, raising his hand to stop further fighting.

Yang Shifei’s footsteps abruptly stopped, his face darkening. “What do you mean?”

“What is your relationship with the Luo Mansion?” The black-clad man gasped for air, sweat dripping from his forehead. “There may be a misunderstanding between us.”

Yang Shifei’s heart moved, deliberately saying, “I have no relationship with the Luo Mansion, I just rented a place here.”

“Truly a misunderstanding!” The black-clad man, enduring the severe pain in his arms, quickly apologized with clasped hands, “Hero, please forgive me. I thought you were from the Luo Mansion, so I acted recklessly. I have offended you greatly. I will compensate you generously.”

As he spoke, he took out a silver ingot from his pocket and threw it over.

Yang Shifei sidestepped to avoid the silver ingot, not reaching out his hand to catch it.

Seeing this, the black-clad man thought he was just being overly cautious. He took out a small porcelain bottle and placed it on the ground, then clasped his hands again, saying, “This is my healing medicine. Apply it to the wound on your right arm for a few days, and I will come to apologize later.”

“I just arrived in the East City. I don’t know anything about the grudges between you.” Yang Shifei said coldly, “What kind of blood feud prompted you to visit me late at night with the intention of taking the lives of the Luo Mansion’s residents?”

“Please calm down, brother. I didn’t come here to kill. It’s just that Luo Mansion’s reach is too long, so I came to give them a warning.” The black-clad man smiled wryly, “Who would have thought I would run into you, causing a misunderstanding.”

Thank goodness, he managed to stabilize this person.

Seeing Yang Shifei lowering his arms, the man’s eyes flashed with a hint of fierceness.

This person must have a deep connection with the Luo Mansion, otherwise, he wouldn’t be staying in this mansion. Now that he’s stopped and spoken, it’s probably to fish for information. Once he’s done asking questions, he’ll definitely move to silence me.

But for me, it’s a perfect opportunity.

The man secretly glanced behind him. They had chased each other out of the courtyard for a while, and they were not far from the Luo Mansion.

As long as he could seize the opportunity to enter the Luo Mansion and capture Miss Luo, he could turn the tables on this strange brute.

Thinking of this, the black-clad man quickly put on an ashamed look again, “Brother, your punches just now were really powerful. I’m feeling a bit dizzy and blurry-eyed now. I need to go back and tend to my injuries. I won’t disturb you anymore.”

With that, he respectfully bowed and turned to leave.

Whoosh!

In an instant, there was a sudden gust of wind behind him!

The black-clad man almost at the same time rushed forward, stepping on the wall of the Luo Mansion, lightly leaping over and flipping into the compound.

Yang Shifei saw that his sneak attack failed and followed closely, jumping into the Luo Mansion, his heart sinking.

Although Miss Luo had the identity of a demoness, whether she could fight was still unknown. If this desperate villain went berserk, he might still hurt the two maids of the Luo Mansion, who were unknown if they were human or ghosts.

Without thinking, Yang Shifei suddenly pushed off the ground, and the cold air around him seemed to erupt all at once, stirring up a strong wind. He quickly flew across the courtyard.

The black-clad man didn’t stop, but he faintly felt a chilling sense of danger. Subconsciously, he turned his head in surprise, only to see Yang Shifei’s face, as cold as an evil spirit’s, coming into view. Before he could dodge, a punch, like a heavy cannon, hit his face sideways.

“Thunk!”

The black-clad man was sent flying by the punch, his bones cracking. After spinning three times in the air, he fell to the ground, leaving a trail of blood.

“Hoo, hoo.”

The battle came to an abrupt halt. Yang Shifei lowered his right arm, blood dripping from his fist.

He breathed heavily, staring blankly at the black-clad man lying on the ground, his life or death uncertain, then looked at his own fist, veins bulging.

As the outcome became clear, he belatedly realized what he had done. But he couldn’t muster up the nausea and discomfort after killing someone. Even his mind was strangely calm, as calm as water, which felt even more bizarre.

Was it the cold energy inside him that made him do what he did?

“Young master Yang?”

A slightly puzzled voice sounded, causing Yang Shifei to look up and see Luo Xian’er and Tan Xiang appearing in front of the hall. “What are you…”

“I happened to encounter this thug sneaking into the Luo Mansion late at night with malicious intent, and I got into a conflict with him.” Yang Shifei took a deep breath. “Unexpectedly, this person attempted to forcibly break into the Luo Mansion and attacked everyone, so I used excessive force.”

He shook his head, suddenly realizing that the coldness inside him receded like a tide, and a sense of exhaustion surged up a step too late, making his vision blurry.

Miss Luo, draped in her cloak, walked briskly, looked at the dying man on the ground, then turned her gaze back to Yang Shifei’s face.

“Tan Xiang.”

“Here.”

“Quickly take Young master Yang back to his room and prepare the healing medicine.”

Miss Luo faced Yang Shifei’s increasingly blurry vision, pursed her lips slightly. “Thank you, Young master Yang.”

“Acts of valor should be rewarded, shouldn’t they?”

Yang Shifei was in a daze and didn’t know how he managed to say those words. Then he was supported by Tan Xiang and taken to an empty room.

A cold wind swept through the courtyard, extinguishing the lights, making it even more eerie.

Miss Luo stood quietly in place, like a solitary lotus in the night, silently watching the backs of the two as they left.

After a moment, she raised her slender wrist slightly and spoke coldly, “Mo Li, refine this corpse.”

“Okay.”

A lazy response faintly echoed under the night sky.

And in the next moment, the black-clad man who was lying in a pool of blood began to contort his limbs gradually. The sound of bones breaking could be clearly heard, as if he was being squeezed and folded by a terrifying external force, until he was completely crushed into a ball of flesh, and his blood seeped into the cracks of the ground.

A sinister flame suddenly ignited, engulfing the flesh ball.

A few breaths later, the courtyard returned to its clean and tidy state, leaving no trace behind.

A faint shadow appeared next to Miss Luo, speaking in human language, “What should we do with that man?”

“Don’t harm him.”

Miss Luo’s face was indifferent. “He’s not bad.”

“Indeed, appearances can be deceiving. Despite looking clean and tidy, he’s quite fierce and courageous in battle.”

The shadow chuckled. “But that ‘spirit cat’ seems to have done something that day. Young Master Yang seems to have seen the young lady’s true form. During the conversation with the young lady, he was only pretending to be calm.”

Miss Luo nodded faintly, her expression still indifferent.

“I can tell.”

“Does the young lady mean…”

“This person is quite good.”

“…”
