Chapter 30: Madame Butterfly
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city was a sea of lights, like stars.
Yuyin arrived at a spacious office located on the top floor of a high-rise building, furnished in an ancient and elegant style, with soft lighting.
A tall and graceful woman, dressed in a deep blue qipao, with long, wavy light purple hair, was holding a glass of red wine, her back to Yuyin. The qipao was embroidered with colorful butterflies, seemingly as enchanting as her figure.
She was known as Madame Butterfly, the mistress of this underground fighting arena and this building, Dai Jingni.
“Madame Butterfly, Miss Xia has arrived,” the manager said respectfully, bowing his head, not daring to look directly at his boss’s alluring figure tightly wrapped in the qipao.
“Got it, you can go out now,” Dai Jingni waved her hand gracefully, her gesture revealing the unique elegance and delicacy of a city woman.
The manager respectfully closed the door and left.
“I love the night view of this city,” Dai Jingni said, her purple eyes and cherry lips reflected in the glass.
Following Madame Butterfly’s gaze, Yuyin saw not just the bustling night scene, but also the lingering spirits that made her feel both enchanted and uneasy.
“Though the night is beautiful, it may also conceal danger,” Yuyin stepped forward and said.
“Hehe, Miss Xia has quite a discerning view…” Dai Jingni turned around, her gaze meeting Yuyin’s. Although she had seen her many times on the monitor, the close encounter made her appreciate Yuyin’s beauty even more, as if she were a fairy in this magical city.
Dai Jingni’s chest involuntarily rose and fell, and the colorful red wine in her glass swayed slightly.
“Beautiful…” she seemed to forget what she was supposed to say, blurting it out.
At this moment, Yuyin’s surprise was no less than Dai Jingni’s. Wasn’t she the woman Yuyin had encountered at the elevator last time?
Indeed, without her sunglasses, she was a stunning beauty radiating the rich charm of this magical city. Yuyin felt that compared to fashionable dresses, she seemed to be more suited to wearing a qipao. For a moment, Yuyin felt as if she had returned to that dazzling and intoxicating era of the bustling foreign concessions.
“You are the same…” Yuyin spoke not out of politeness but from genuine feeling. This Madame Butterfly was simply the epitome of an elegant, refined, yet generous woman from the magical city.
As the saying goes, “like attracts like.” Two women with different auras, yet both capable of stunning this city, met and felt a mutual affinity.
Strangely, the jealousy and comparison often found among women were absent at this moment, for reasons unknown.
“Hehehe, Miss Xia is too polite. How could I compare to the talented and beautiful Qingyu goddess?” Dai Jingni lazily twisted her waist, self-deprecatingly, yet her charm was not at all diminished. Her high heels lightly tapped on the carpet as she walked towards Yuyin, deliberately taking a step forward, making the distance between them quite subtle, her ample chest almost touching Yuyin’s arm.
That soft radiance made Yuyin’s heart and body tremble.
“Madame Butterfly… may I ask what you need from me?” Yuyin quickly suppressed her breath and asked.
Dai Jingni, accustomed to various occasions and people, spoke with a serious tone while exhaling like orchids, “Miss Xia’s performance is highly anticipated. I came today to discuss signing a contract with you.”
“Signing a contract?” Yuyin felt a bit wary.
“Of course, it’s a legitimate contract. I won’t force you to wear a bikini on stage, hehe,” Dai Jingni said ambiguously.
Upon hearing “bikini,” Yuyin couldn’t help but shudder slightly, but her composure was not easily shaken. She steadied her breath and said, “What are the specific terms of the contract?”
“Please this way.”
Dai Jingni naturally took Yuyin’s hand and led her to an old-fashioned large desk. Along the way, her fingers deliberately brushed against Yuyin’s palm, but her demeanor remained businesslike, as if the small gesture didn’t exist.
Yuyin had no choice but to ignore the sensitive sensations in her palm, unsure if the other party was trying to distract her from the contract terms, which was impossible.
Dai Jingni placed the contract on the desk and pushed it towards Yuyin.
“I’ll briefly outline the key points: the appearance fee is 100,000 per match, and for each consecutive win, an additional 50,000 is added. So, if you win three matches in a row, that’s an extra 150,000, with no upper limit. Additionally, for each victory, Miss Xia will receive 1% of the total amount bet on the global market,” Dai Jingni explained to Yuyin.
Upon hearing this, Yuyin’s heart raced, but she still suppressed her emotions and carefully read through the contract, not missing a single word, and found no traps for the time being.
100,000 per match, and an additional amount for consecutive wins—this was astronomical for Yuyin at this moment, but she did not reveal her excitement.
“What is the use of this spirit pill share?” Yuyin asked.
“The spirit pill is a virtual currency issued by our underground martial arts alliance. It can be exchanged for money, but not the other way around. However, anyone with a bit of understanding wouldn’t be foolish enough to exchange spirit pills for cash,” Dai Jingni said with a hint of meaning.
“Is that so?”
“In simple terms, with spirit pills, you can buy many things that are not available on the market, such as cultivation secrets and elixirs.”
“Secrets of cultivation and elixirs?” Yuyin’s eyes lit up at this.
