Chapter 29: Battle with Tang Menglong
Tang Menglong, though surnamed Tang, was not of Tang descent.
He was about the same height as Lewis but clearly more muscular. His cold eyes revealed the brutality typical of Western strongmen. He strode onto the platform, drawing a two-handed giant sword, which he could easily wield with one hand.
This giant sword was about the same length as Yuyin’s but twice as wide.
The metal net rose, and the match began!
The frenzied audience made the underground fighting arena tremble with their cheers. At this point, half of the audience was cheering for Yuyin. Although the odds favored Tang Menglong by four times, Yuyin was still a local fighter from Zero City and a female martial artist, making her quite popular.
Tang Menglong panted heavily, gripping the giant sword as he approached Yuyin, stopping a few steps away to look down at the petite woman compared to him. “I won’t underestimate you like Lewis did, and I’m not interested in Eastern women.”
“Coincidentally, I have no interest in Western men either,” Yuyin suppressed a slight fear of the giant, trying to keep her mindset as cold as possible.
Although Yuyin had no interest in any man, here, she felt no need to explain.
Tang Menglong’s thick, golden-browed eyebrows pressed together powerfully. “Is that so? However, I do have a bit of interest in tearing apart weak and lowly women!”
Suddenly, Tang Menglong roared, stepping forward, while the giant sword in his hand spun half a circle and swung down towards Yuyin.
Tang Menglong’s movement and swordplay were much faster than his seemingly heavy physique suggested!
However, at this moment, Yuyin, with nearly a hundred source energy points, had dynamic vision sharp enough to capture all of Tang Menglong’s attacks.
With her slender figure facing the giant’s heavy sword, she defied expectations; not only did she not dodge, but she also seized the opportunity, swiftly stepping forward to meet him. Before the giant’s sword had fully descended and reached its maximum speed, she preemptively struck to block.
Ding!
Sparks flew, and a crisp metallic clash echoed.
The giant sword in Tang Menglong’s hand, which was as thick as Yuyin’s waist, rebounded simultaneously with Yuyin’s sword, causing both of them to stagger for a moment.
This was the essence of the Beichen Sword Technique, which seemed simple yet was profound. It involved blocking before the enemy could exert their full force, seizing the initiative through timing, technique, and speed of attack! Even though Yuyin’s absolute strength was not as great as Tang Menglong’s, she could still engage him in a head-on battle!
“This Qingyu Sword Princess can actually go toe-to-toe with the Western strongman Tang Menglong? And she’s not at a disadvantage!?” In the audience and VIP section, a resolute middle-aged martial artist in a Tang suit exclaimed in surprise. Although he might not be weaker than Tang Menglong, facing the combination of Tang Menglong’s brute strength and agility made him feel apprehensive; a slight misstep could lead to his defeat.
Both fighters involuntarily took half a step back. Even though Tang Menglong was agile, it was relative; he had clearly lost his balance and was flailing to regain it.
Meanwhile, Yuyin, while retreating, had already swiftly adjusted her posture, using the recoil to gather strength. Suddenly, she lunged forward with a sword step, her long sword drawing a reverse arc before her wrist flicked, slashing upward diagonally towards Tang Menglong’s chest.
“Oh!” Tang Menglong, still unsteady, barely managed to swing his sword downward.
Clang!
This time, Tang Menglong’s giant sword was directly deflected by Yuyin’s long sword because he had no time to adjust his stance and exert force.
Yuyin seized the opportunity, switching to a two-handed grip on her sword, applying more force with her left hand, and executed a downward slash.
Bang!
The unsharpened long sword struck heavily against Tang Menglong’s solid chest, causing the giant to stumble and kneel on the ground, the thick leather belt he wore was severed, leaving a deep dent in his chest.
“Ugh, ah…” Tang Menglong groaned in pain, clutching his chest.
Yuyin did not pursue the attack but waited for Tang Menglong to stand up.
Amidst the audience’s cheers for the Eastern Sword Princess, Tang Menglong’s forehead bulged with veins, adrenaline surged, and he forgot the pain. His strong body turned red, as if instinctively channeling source energy.
He let out a roar and suddenly sprang up, swinging his giant sword fiercely towards Yuyin.
“Not good! Get out of the way!” The martial artist in the Tang suit couldn’t help but shout.
This desperate strike was incredibly fierce and powerful. It was expected that Yuyin would dodge, but instead of retreating, she stood her ground, facing the descending giant sword, and swiftly swung her sword to intercept.
Ding!
Yuyin’s long sword quickly struck the broad side of Tang Menglong’s giant sword, deflecting it aside. Tang Menglong’s body, due to the excessive force, followed the giant sword and lunged towards Yuyin’s side.
He was flustered, his head and body completely exposed.
Yuyin’s eyes narrowed. In that brief moment when Tang Menglong instinctively sought to regain his balance, she calmly retracted her sword while turning her body, gripping her sword with both hands. This fluid motion contrasted sharply with Tang Menglong’s chaotic attempts to avoid falling, as if they were in two different rhythms.
Whoosh!
Yuyin decisively struck at the side of Tang Menglong’s solid head.
Half of Tang Menglong’s face caved in, his eyes rolled back, blood spewed from his mouth, and he toppled to the side.
His heavy body rolled to the edge of the arena.
Tang Menglong was defeated.
The audience, perhaps having acknowledged Yuyin’s strength after the previous battle, was still shocked. But this was Tang Menglong! He was not some third-rate professional fighter like Lewis. Moreover, Lewis’s previous defeat was largely due to his own underestimation. Tang Menglong was a top-tier fighter who had been on a winning streak, and he had fought with all his might—yet he still lost?
Some in the audience might have thought Yuyin relied on agility and time to win by points, but who would have expected that this slender and tall woman could defeat Tang Menglong in a direct confrontation, and in just two or three rounds?
Who could have imagined?
Tonight’s battle was as shocking as the last!
“Ding! Earned 10 soul charm from the unexpected audience.”
“Breaking Tang Menglong’s discrimination against Eastern women and Eastern martial arts, earned 10 soul charm.”
“From Madame Butterfly’s surprise, earned 1 soul charm, from…”
In this battle, Yuyin gained a total of 32 soul charm points.
Madame Butterfly? Who is she?
“Qingyu, Qingyu, Qingyu!”
Amidst the host’s various praises and the audience’s cheers, Yuyin took the towel handed to her by a pole dancer, wiped herself slightly, and calmly walked down from the arena.
At this moment, the manager and a group of assistants and bodyguards approached.
“Miss Xia, our boss wants to see you,” the manager whispered beside Yuyin.
