Chapter 11: Cultivating in Bed
That night, Yuyin returned to her rented room.
There wasn’t even a washing machine here. Although she had given her sports outfit to Ying Luo, she still had to wash the rest herself.
After taking a shower, she washed her underwear in the sink, feeling that it wasn’t too hard a task. The small black underwear had exquisite and mysterious patterns, and the delicate, silky texture brought an indescribable joy and sense of accomplishment. It felt like her underwear was quite expensive.
On her way home, Yuyin bought a few hangers from a roadside supermarket, but the rented room didn’t have a balcony. The other clothes were fine, but the underwear… she hadn’t realized it before, but once she hung it out, she suddenly felt embarrassed.
Across the street, there was a shirtless man smoking on his balcony, seemingly looking in her direction.
After all, the black lace style might lead to misunderstandings… but there was no other place to dry them.
She hung her shirt outside, trying to cover her underwear with it.
Living alone isn’t easy. A goddess-like woman who attracts all kinds of attention wherever she goes has even more troubles; even hanging clothes comes with so many concerns.
At that moment, a wave of consciousness emanated from the space of the God-Eating Chess.
Yuyin had nothing to do that night. In the past, even though her family was poor, there were still many things to play with. But now, as a girl, what could she play with? What was there to enjoy?
She lay on her bed, her consciousness entering the God-Eating Chess space, immediately sensing a wave from somewhere.
It turned out that the little ghost fighters had started battling again.
Although the little ghosts were weak, they were brave, fighting tirelessly!
Four little ghosts were screaming as they surrounded a gray-black wild boar, which had a snake-like tail and large, pangolin-like scales on its back.
The wild boar seemed to have strong defenses; this group of little ghosts had been attacking for a long time. After a fierce battle, two little ghosts died, one was injured, and the wild boar fell dead.
Then, a wave of source spirit that Yuyin had been looking forward to flew towards her. This time, she didn’t dodge and directly accepted the source spirit.
Her long legs trembled, and her chest rose and fell continuously as the vibrant source spirit flowed from deep within Yuyin’s abdomen, spreading warmth throughout her body.
“Hmm…”
This was a dual satisfaction of physical pleasure and psychological fulfillment.
They say cultivation is hard, but Yuyin never expected her cultivation to be such a joyful experience.
However, this time, Yuyin only increased her source energy value by two points, reaching 67. She felt that the amount this time was not less than last time, but after reaching 65, it seemed that the speed of improvement had noticeably slowed down.
She could imagine that from now on, it would only get slower.
As for those monkeys, they were still in the “Wild Jungle of Animal World.”
Yuyin glanced at them, as if she could hear Teacher Zhao’s deep voice ringing in her ears.
Yuyin felt a bit suffocated… she felt like she had lost a dollar (1 soul charm value).
She felt thirsty and wanted to order takeout. The “Thirsty?” app was already downloaded, but when she looked at her balance, she only had over 500 yuan. Relying on this money to live alone, with no foreseeable source of income… she decided against it.
She boiled some water; despite the house lacking this and that, there was still a kettle, though the gas stove was in the hallway outside.
After boiling the water, she poured a cup and set it on her bedside to cool, then returned to the God-Eating Chess.
“I still have 3 soul charm values.”
She thought about the previous charm… no, the altar of the soul charm piece.
Just as she thought this, “Ding Ling,” five altars reappeared before her eyes.
Two of them were empty, the ones she had lost earlier that morning.
“Although it might fail, I’ll still increase some pieces,” Yuyin thought.
That bird-like piece looked a bit weak; she chose to charm the carp.
Thinking to herself, please don’t fail… after all, she only had three soul charms left.
“No, wait.”
“Don’t hesitate.”
Yuyin suddenly remembered the reminder from the ancient will.
With great confidence, she cast the charm.
Ding!
It was indeed successful.
The carp didn’t appear in the initial empty space but instead appeared in a nearby pond. Then, under the voice’s guidance, it swam along the small river.
“I hope this carp can be reliable and bring me some rewards.”
The carp was indeed reliable; it swam out not far before attacking a crab in the river. Due to the mist, if it weren’t for the carp’s vision, Yuyin wouldn’t have noticed it.
The crab in the river was as big as a basin, but the carp was nearly two meters long. The crab was no match for the carp, which continuously attacked it with bubbles and tail slaps until it was killed. Yuyin felt that the bubbles the carp released seemed to contain some power that ordinary water didn’t have, but she didn’t understand what it was.
After the crab died, it didn’t disappear; the carp began to eat it. After consuming the crab, the carp swayed its body, emitting golden light, and released a source spirit.
A very gentle and comfortable feeling… Yuyin felt her source energy value should have increased, but the number didn’t change. It was likely that the portion of the source spirit from the crab that the carp consumed wasn’t enough to raise her by one point.
No worries, she could take her time.
Not long after, while Yuyin was searching for information about this world online, she inexplicably felt a gentle comfort, as if there was a slight tremor from her lower abdomen. It turned out the carp had swallowed something again.
This time, her source energy value increased to 68.
“Looks like even if my consciousness isn’t in the God-Eating Chess, these pieces will still act on their own to hunt for source spirits for me. That’s quite nice.”
However, around 10:30 PM, a wave of negative energy came from within the God-Eating Chess.
When Yuyin entered, she saw that her last two little ghost fighters had perished. She hadn’t even seen what monster had killed them.
The little ghost fighters were completely wiped out.
“Could it really end like this? What will happen next?” She couldn’t help but feel worried.
The ancient female will timely echoed, “Don’t worry; pieces will not perish unless you actively disperse them. Otherwise, they are indestructible, and if you disperse them, the soul charm will return.”
“Indestructible? And I can actively disperse them to return the soul charm value?” Yuyin understood that if she didn’t want a piece anymore, she could sell it.
“After a piece dies, depending on its strength and realm, it will require some time to revive in the initial place,” the will explained.
“So they can revive…” Yuyin sighed in relief, no longer worried about wasting soul charms.
Yuyin contemplated whether to spend 1 soul charm to buy that pair of birds, but looking at them, they didn’t seem useful… so she decided against it. With only two soul charms left, it was better to save them; one should always leave some leeway.
