Chapter 15: Boros’s new armor
At the same time, the Hero Association struggled to deal with the devastating consequences of the planetary impact.
One of their top heroes, Tatsumaki, had been hospitalized indefinitely after her battle against four Dragon-level plus monsters.
Several cities neighboring City Z had suffered severe damage. Tens of thousands of people had been left homeless, and many more had been injured due to shattered glass, debris, and shockwaves.
Massive volcanic eruptions and earthquakes had brought global travel to a complete halt.
The association desperately tried to control the situation, putting every available hero to work.
In addition to fighting monsters, B-Class and lower-ranked heroes were assigned to repair infrastructure and buildings.
Every A-Class hero was ordered to assist in evacuations from the most damaged areas.
Needless to say, the Hero Association was in a tough spot.
With their resources stretched thin, they turned to an unlikely group for help, the criminals of the world.
A meeting was arranged, bringing together many of the most notorious criminals.
Among them was Garou, Bang's former disciple and a highly skilled martial artist.
From the moment the meeting began, Garou dominated the room's attention.
He defeated three A-Class heroes with ease. Then, he decimated all the criminals in attendance. Finally, he left the building without looking back.
With the Hero Association already on the ropes, they immediately issued an arrest warrant for Garou.
His face was publicized across the continent, and all heroes were ordered to bring him down on sight.
This only served to motivate Garou even more.
.........….
As the days passed, Garou continued his hunt, facing multiple heroes and growing stronger after each battle.
He fought and defeated Tanktop Master, along with several A-Class and B-Class heroes.
He then went on to challenge Watchdog Man, and suffered a brutal defeat.
Meanwhile, Metal Bat was assigned to guard one of the Hero Association's biggest funders and his son during a lunch outing at a sushi restaurant.
Since the Monster Association had already been dismantled by Boros, no monsters attacked, and their meal went uninterrupted.
With his house completely destroyed, Saitama had no time to worry about what was happening outside.
He had far bigger problems to solve, like figuring out where he was going to live.
Without the Monster Association, the Super Fight Tournament was never interrupted by Goketsu.
As a result, Suiryu went on to win the competition with ease.
Another significant change occurred within the Council of Swordsmen.
In the original timeline, Haragiri revealed himself as a monster and was executed by Atomic Samurai.
However, with the Monster Association no longer existing, Haragiri never exposed his true nature. Instead, he chose to remain in hiding.
With Garou continuing his rampage, many forces mobilized to take him down.
Atomic Samurai, his disciple, and the Council of Swordsmen split up into groups, each determined to track Garou down.
Bang and Bomb also scoured the streets, searching for their rogue martial artist.
The hunt for the Hero Hunter had officially begun.

During this time, Boros stayed with Kuseno, as the old man needed him around to conduct checks and tests on the armor and face mask he was developing.
On the rare occasions when Kuseno didn't need his assistance, Boros sparred with Saitama.
And each time, he found himself on the receiving end of a brutal beatdown, as Saitama took out some of his frustrations on the alien.
However, Boros could feel his power gradually growing with every sparring match.
Eventually, he asked Saitama how he had become this strong, and The Caped Baldy gave him the answer.
The alien had no idea what a push-up, sit-up, or squat was, so he asked Saitama to demonstrate and decided to try the workout routine himself.
Effortlessly completing the entire regimen, he looked at his sparring partner, unimpressed.
"Really?" Boros asked. "That's all you did?"
"It's ridiculously easy."
Eventually, Kuseno finished his work and had Boros properly equip the new armor and face mask before inviting Genos and Saitama to check out his creation.
The master and disciple made their way to the lab, unsure of what to expect.
As they entered the room, they were met with an impressive sight.
Genos's eyes widened. "Boros… is that really you?"
"The resemblance is strong, but you could definitely pass as a hero now."
"Yes, I believe I could," Boros replied, inspecting his new look. "And this armor is perfect. It's much easier to suppress myself with it on."
"So… is the face temporary?" Saitama asked, frowning. "Or did you get surgery and change it forever?"
"Because it's kinda creeping me out."
"It's a face mask of sorts," Kuseno explained. "It's made from a thin layer of a special shape-shifting metal."
"He can put it on and take it off at will, so the change isn't permanent."
"Alright," Genos interrupted. "Now all that's left is getting you into the Hero Association."
Boros smirked. "Should be easy enough."
"Even with this armor, I'm still more than strong enough to be classified as a Dragon-level threat."
"And if I'm not mistaken, you only need to be Demon-level to get into S-Class, right?"
"You certainly have the power aspect covered," Genos admitted. "But that's only half the exam."
Boros raised an eyebrow. "And what's the other half?"
Genos looked at him, dead serious. "The written exam."
"Now sit down and listen."
Boros groaned. "I agreed to become a hero to make up for flipping a continent," he complained. "I didn't sign up for a studying session."
Saitama walked up to Boros and stared at him, his expression blank yet menacing.
A single bead of sweat rolled down Boros's forehead.
"Uhhh…"
"…When do I start studying, Genos?"
...............…
Meanwhile, at the Hero Association Headquarters, a meeting was being held between the highest-ranking board members.
"The repairs have been progressing relatively well," one official stated. "But the Hero Hunter still hasn't been caught."
"We also haven't been able to contact several B-Class and C-Class heroes."
"We've tried calling them, visiting their apartments, contacting their families… and so far, we've found nothing."
"It's as if those heroes just disappeared off the face of the planet without a trace."
Another official leaned forward. "Then Garou got them?"
"That was my first thought as well," the first official admitted. "But after thinking it over, I seriously doubt this is his doing."
"Garou claims to be a monster, but as far as we know, he's never actually killed a hero."
"He beats them down and leaves. Kidnapping or killing isn't his style."
"Every hero he has attacked so far has been found within a day of the assault."
"But these missing heroes… they've been gone for days."
Sitch furrowed his brows. "So you think someone else is responsible?"
"Someone… or something."
A tense silence filled the room.
"Right now, we don't have enough information to draw conclusions," the official continued. "I suggest we continue to monitor the situation closely."
Sitch sighed. "Indeed… this is quite concerning."
"If heroes continue disappearing like this…"
"We're going to have to take drastic measures."
