Wanderer of the Zerg

Chapter 33: Falling Snow

The weather has gotten colder. Since last night, the sky has been overcast, with no sunlight coming through.

Xi Tian dislikes trouble, but he also knows that some troubles are unavoidable.

Right now, his best choice isn’t to continue searching for evidence here, which would only drag him into an endless quagmire of anxiety and trouble. He decides to live outside the Zerg Star.

Xi Tian has no experience outside the stars, so he initially thought of asking Liang An. Unexpectedly, Liang An disappeared again at this time. He complained to Ellis as if talking to himself. In return, he got an unexpected answer. Ellis was once an exchange student on the neutral star of Kenna outside the Zerg Star during his student days.

With the destination issue resolved, Xi Tian began to consider another issue, one that required discussion with Ellis.

“Now there’s a problem. My identity as a Zerg Star citizen is no longer valid, and I can’t register with you now. The only one who needs to leave here as required is me. What about you?” Xi Tian sat in a chair and said to Ellis, who was looking for a route on the home terminal’s interstellar map.

“What kind of problem is this? Do I have any other choice?” Ellis glanced at the map, indifferent.

“Of course, you have many choices,” Xi Tian turned around in his chair, “This house was in your name at the time. Your assets haven’t been lost. You can stay here and then go back to work normally.”

“In plain terms, the choice is ‘go with you’ or ‘not go with you’. Do you think I can still be with someone else after being with you?” Ellis rolled his eyes discreetly where Xi Tian couldn’t see.

“You must be cursing me. I can feel it.”

“I’m not!”

“You are!”

“I’m not!”

“You are!”

“I’m not… okay, okay, whatever you say!” Ellis turned back, giving Xi Tian a helpless look.

Encountering such a major event, his male partner didn’t even blink his eyes, still had the energy to joke with him, truly deserving to be called a weirdo.

Xi Tian didn’t mind at all.

Whether it’s a happy day or a sad day, each day passes one day at a time. Why make oneself unhappy?

“You can continue living here as you used to, without the need to bother yourself to leave the army job and accompany me to run out into the interstellar space. It would be great to be carefree.”

“You’re absolutely right. From a rational standpoint, I could do exactly that.” Ellis brought up a neutral planet he had visited during his student days, activating a holographic image. The blue skies and grasslands instantly filled the study. “How about this place? The scenery is amazing, many movies have been shot here. The environment is a bit monotonous, but it’s very free.”

“I’m not going there to herd cattle. I can’t stay in a place with too few people. If I don’t see anyone, I’ll be bored to death. Is there somewhere more convenient to live?”

Due to his growth phase condition, Xi Tian had completely become hands-off, leaving all household matters to Ellis. Even as his health improved, he was still too lazy to take on the tasks that were supposed to be his.

“How about this place, the town of Nord, near the water and mountains, with about ten thousand people.”

“It looks small and drab.”

“This neutral planet has only a hundred years of history. The residents are all new immigrants, and its main industries are agriculture and livestock. Of course, it’s not as developed as highly industrialized cities on Zerg Star.”

“Hmm, did you encounter any obstacles living there?”

“When I lived there, there was no internet access, but I’ve heard they’ve connected to the interstellar network in the past two years. Other than that, there’s no major issues. There are convenience stores and supermarkets. Transportation is limited to ground vehicles.”

“So no flying around in the future, that’s a bit disappointing.”

It was clear that Xi Tian agreed with the idea of living there.

“By the way, how will my ‘refugee’ status be resolved? That’s also a problem.”

“That’s not an issue. The agrarian colonies always encourage immigration. You can get residency by working there for three years or by buying property.”

“This is so straightforward. I inexplicably lost a third-tier star identity, but I can get a second-tier star identity in such a simple way.”

“However, my dear male lord, I must remind you that your account balance has been frozen.”

“Frozen or not, there’s less than a hundred credits in it, not enough to buy even one terminal. Who cares?”

Ellis felt that Xi Tian was unusually hyper today, to the point of losing his intelligence.

“What I mean is, if you go to the agrarian colony alone, your only choice is to work for three years. Given your state of unemployment for over a year, do you think you can adapt to the work environment?”

“This reminds me, I have to go with you to the agrarian colony, use your money to buy a property, and then kick you out after I get my identity card. That’s also a good option. You can gain the valuable life experience of being abandoned by a scumbag male, return home miserably, and even write a love story on the forum. It sounds wonderful!”

“…Not wonderful at all. Please don’t think so far ahead for me, thank you!” Ellis, with a blank expression, booked two interstellar tickets to the agrarian colony.

“According to the plan I set when I was twenty-two, I wouldn’t even consider getting married until at least thirty. If it weren’t for unexpectedly meeting you, who would get married at twenty-five!”

“Meeting me unexpectedly is my fault, huh?” Xi Tian said with a mischievous smile.

“…Why do you always twist my words?!”

Ellis, unable to tolerate it any longer, walked straight up to Xi Tian and placed his hand on his shoulder, looking down at him from his height advantage.

“Bend your head down a bit, I can’t reach you.”

Ellis obediently lowered his head, and was pulled down by Xi Tian, their lips meeting.

“I think we both made mistakes, half each. Your mistake was falling for me, and I made the same mistake.”

Xi Tian released Ellis, who found himself unknowingly sitting on Xi Tian’s lap, his arms wrapped around Xi Tian’s neck.

The gallant aura of the military female only lasted for three seconds.

“Even if it’s a mistake, it’s too late to change it.” Ellis said softly. “If you were a bit more terrible to me, I could have hardened my heart and left in time, cutting my losses. But you’re too good, so good that I don’t want to let you go or give you to someone else. Even though I know I’m not worthy of you, I can’t stop thinking this way.”

Xi Tian pecked him lightly and said with a smile, “So, that’s the answer you were avoiding giving me earlier?”

“Yes!” Ellis no longer hesitated.

“Then let’s see if you have what it takes to keep me.” Xi Tian lifted Ellis and carried him back to the bedroom. “And let’s see if I can make you not regret staying.”

Ellis was placed on the bed, and as Xi Tian went to close the curtains, he stood by the window, staring outside.

From the dark, heavily clouded sky, snowflakes began to fall lightly.

In the blink of an eye, the yellowed lawn was covered with a layer of fresh snow.

“Ellis, come quickly, it’s snowing!”

Ellis walked over to Xi Tian with a smile.

Xi Tian wrapped his arm around Ellis’s waist, and they stood side by side.

A gust of wind blew, lifting the fallen snow from the ground and swirling it in the air.

This was the first snow of the winter in Siming.
