Waiting For Your Reincarnation

Chapter 28

The broken glass at the center’s entrance suggests that it wasn’t just one or two Snarls who broke in.

Still, the spirits in the lobby did not bother to evacuate, and even the security team did not intervene to deal with the Snarls.

Instead, they all stared at the center of the lobby in confusion, and when Yeon-Young followed their gaze, she couldn’t help but see the same expression on their faces.

In the center of the lobby, a huge tornado, big enough to fill the center itself, was bouncing around.

 “Mr. Ryu Won.”

Ryu Won stood right in front of the tornado, watching the scene with a blank expression.

He counted on his fingers, and with a snap of his index finger, the tornado disappeared in an instant.

Where the tornado had disappeared, dozens of snarls were piled up like a tower.

Not just one or two, but dozens. She was deeply concerned about the safety of the center.

The lack of movement suggested that they had already been sorted out and killed in the tornado.

Again, again, again.

Just then, a woman in the same uniform as Yeon-young entered the lobby and casually surveyed the situation.

Her long orange hair, tied up in a ponytail, swayed as she walked. The ghosts opened their mouths and focused on her movements.

“I’m back from a business trip and this is what happens.”

The woman furrowed her brow in frustration at the mess she was in and undid a few buttons on her black uniform that cinched up to her neck.

The amber necklace she wore sparkled in the light. She wore a yellow tie, a sign of her special team affiliation.

“I’ve never seen this face before.”

The woman held out her hand, and her palm burst into flame.

The fireball gathered in his palm, and he flung it lightly toward Snarl’s grave.

Snarl’s form was consumed by the blue flames, shrinking and disintegrating.

The woman watched, unblinking despite the immense heat, like a building on fire.

No one seemed to blink, even though it was clear that the Snarl had entered the center and the situation was grave.

“What were you all doing until those things came in here, were you playing around?” “Ms. Yeon-young, why did you come here?”

Although all the other spirits froze at the woman’s question, Ryu Won shrugged his shoulders and rushed over as if he could only see Yeon-young.

“I told you not to come up because it’s dangerous.” “Ah…, that’s right, I wouldn’t have come up if I knew it would be like this.” “You are the only one who holds on to my life. “Were you worried about me?” “What? No.” “Are you worried I’m going to die?” “No.” “Who are you?” ***

The woman in the middle of the lobby, her growl somewhat tamed, approached Yeon-young and asked. She was striking from a distance, but she was even more beautiful up close.

She looked down at Yeon-young with a nonchalant face, but her eyes were immediately drawn to her dainty, straight features.

“Ah, this is the newcomer…” “Sun Zhaolin, you ignorant dragonfly, I told you to leave a specimen for me to take a snapshot.”

Jaeho, late to the party, knelt down in the middle of the lobby and began to search for the remains of Snarl.

He must have been talking to the woman who had started the fire, because she leaned closer, as if she had a question for Yeon-young alone.

“And who are you?” “Oh, I’m Kim Yeon-young, the newest member of the Soul Protection Center’s special team.” “The youngest… Do you still have a phantom these days? What are your abilities?” “I can read memories a little…” “Can you read my memory?” “Sun Zhaolin.”

The woman who called Ryu Won

“Sun Zhaolin”

was trying to test Yeon-young by reaching out and asking her to read her memories.

Jung Jaeho might be crazy, but he wouldn’t test someone like that. Yeon-young didn’t feel well.

“I haven’t stabilized my abilities yet…” “I don’t think your skills are good enough to help you, you shouldn’t be put on the special team just because you’re a god-mouth. Anyway, I’m busy with other things, so I’ll go first.”

Zhaolin walked away without exchanging a word with Yeon-young, and it was then that she tripped over something and almost fell, but there was nothing near her feet.

 “Ugh, what are you doing?”

She glared at Ryu Won, who had apparently directed the wind at her ankle, causing her to stumble.

“Be polite.” “Since when did Senior say you care about others?” “Unfortunately, I don’t care about others, but Ms. Yeon-young is different because she is my person.” “Are you crazy?”

Invisible sparks seemed to fly between Ryu Won and Zhaolin.

Discouraged by Zhaolin’s sober assessment, Yeon-young looked away, unable to get between them.

Jaeho continued to sweep the floor of the lobby, obviously not giving up on finding the remains of Snarl.

Yeon-young glanced at Jaeho as he crawled across the floor.

A black lump from earlier seemed to follow Jaeho’s back.

 “What is that?

Yeon-young frowned and took a closer look.

The black mass suddenly began to move furiously and shouted.

 “Sn-Snarl.”

The other spirits didn’t seem to notice at all, but the mass fidgeted on the spot and then, as if it had found its bearings, rushed towards them in an instant.

It was a deformed Snarl in human form.

 “Ms. Zhaolin, take cover!”

Snarl tried to lunge at Zhaolin without a sound, but was thwarted by Yeon-Young’s swift embrace, causing her to fall to the side.

Snarl shuddered and let out a rage that the attack hadn’t gotten through.

Both Zhaolin and Ryu Won seemed to sense Snarl’s presence and resumed their attack stance.

“A Snarl that doesn’t even pay attention… Let’s go.” “Let’s not waste time, let’s deal with it right away.”
***

Ryu Won swept his bangs roughly through his hair as if he was suddenly in a bad mood, his expression hardening.

His mood turned sour as well. He jumped up from his seat, blocking Yeon-young’s path and reaching out for the flame.

As if telepathically communicating with each other, Zhaolin and Ryu Won jumped into the air at the same time and attacked Snarl.

Obviously, the Snarl that had survived the tornado on its own was different.

Its movements were incomparably faster than the previous Snarl, and it seemed as if it had intelligence.

It didn’t just attack blindly but knew exactly where to strike.

 “Another Variation of Snarl…”

Still, Yeon-young wasn’t as nervous as she had been earlier when she was alone in the training center.

It had two abilities in front of it that could create massive tornadoes and forest fires.

Snarl paused its attack, dodging Zhaolin and Ryu Won’s attacks, and then, as if it finished thinking, he turned and came towards Yeon-Young.

This stream was a bit dangerous.

 Boom!

When the snarl jumped up, Yeon-Young instinctively closed her eyes.

Then, just as she had practiced with Ryu Won earlier, she saw lights in the darkness. She instinctively recognized the white and red balls in the air as belonging to Ryu Won and Zhaolin, respectively.

At the same time, she noticed another black-gray light coming toward her.

When Yeon-young opened her eyes, the black-gray light was on Snarl’s neck.

“The neck! Aim for the neck.”

Zhaolin was about to throw the fire in his hand when Yeon-young’s words stopped her.

Ryu Won, who quickly understood Yeon-young’s words, summoned a wind and quickly attacked Snarl’s neck.

Snarl winced in pain and stopped walking towards Yeon-Young, collapsing to the ground.

“Wait, I need to take a sample. I haven’t had any test subjects lately. Get out of the way.”

Jaeho, who had watched the chaos from a distance, approached Snarl and lifted the lid of the collection container.

 Hmph-!

Just then, Snarl’s body caught fire, and its form disappeared, taking the tip of Jaeho’s fringe with it.

“Ack, what is this? Are you crazy?” “I don’t listen to useless mad scientists.”

The fire in Jaeho’s hair was small and quickly extinguished, but he hissed and screamed in frustration.

Unlike Jaeho, who was indifferent, Zhaolin looked slightly intrigued.

“How did you know to aim for the neck?” “Because… I could see something. Snarl must also have a heart or something, because I saw a light and told him, but when Ryu Won attacked him, he died instantly.” “This is a good testimony for the report. I’ll take note of it. My name is Sun Zhaolin, Special Team, and I was just thanking you.”

Zhaolin greeted Yeon-young with a slightly faded look in her eyes, as if she recognized her abilities. Yeon-young scratched her cheek, embarrassed by her greeting.

“What, I’m glad I could help. You’re not hurt, are you?” “Of course.”

She wondered if they’d become a little closer after what had just happened, but she was wrong. Zhaolin said goodbye, said she was behind with her report and left quickly, dragging Jaeho with her.

Ryu Won seemed to be deep in thought and disturbed, even though the Snarl situation had been resolved to a certain extent.

He looked at the hand that was blowing out the wind.

“Mr. Ryu Won, are there still any problems?” “No. Thanks to you, everything has been taken care of.” “Are you sick? You don’t look well.” “You’re not hurt?” “What?” “I mean, are you okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine.” “I see.”

Yeon-young, asked Ryu Won how he was, because he didn’t look well. His skin was usually flawless, but today he looked pale.

She gently grabbed Ryu Won’s uniform collar.

“Do you want to go to the emergency room? I’ll take you there.” “I’m fine, just…” “What?” “In the future, Ms. Yeon-young, I think you should stay away from Snarl-related missions.”Visit my Ko-fi for discounted advanced chapters!!
