Waiting For Your Reincarnation

Chapter 27

“You hold my life in your hands now.”

Ryu Won’s face turned gray from the strain, while Yeon-young’s face was as smooth and bright as a cracked egg.

Ryu Won didn’t look afraid at all. ‘

Could this arrogant man be afraid of anything?’

Surely she had the upper hand now that Yeon-young had learned about Ryu Won’s weaknesses.

After much thought, Yeon-young opened her mouth.

“Mr. Ryu Won, do you have the ability to erase memories other than reading them?” “Unfortunately, most of them are physical and you’re probably the only one in the first division with a mental ability.” “That’s too bad.”

If she had an ability related to memory, she would be useful in many ways. It was a pity that she could only read.

Ryu Won smiled and suggested something else.

“Now you can read the flow of abilities, right?” “If I close my eyes and concentrate hard, I think I can see it somehow.” “Let’s try something else. Instead of reading the other person’s flow, imagine that you can find the flow of your ability. Then I’d like you to try to use your ability on me?” “What? On you?” “Yes, because it’s not physical, and it won’t hurt you if you succeed.”

With that, Ryu Won took Yeon-young’s hand again and squeezed it with his big, strong hand. He gave her a look that said,

“Go ahead and try,”

and waited until she was ready.

Even though she had the ability to harm no one, she hesitated to use it on him.

Ryu Won said that there was nothing wrong with it, but his white eyelashes twitched nervously.

Yeon-Young’s past. She remembered what Ryu Won had said earlier.

They might have had some kind of connection in the past.

But it was up to Yeon-young to find the answers.

If she could read Ryu Won’s memories now, she would be one step closer to finding that part.

Her hands trembled at the thought of reading the memories.

‘If I succeed, I’ll get a glimpse of his memories, so why am I so hesitant?’

She held his hand and stood still for a long time. Ryu Won waited, not sure if he was bored or not.

Unable to keep him waiting any longer, Yeon-young made up her mind and closed her eyes.

When she looked at Ryu Won’s energy flow again, unlike hers, it seemed to be concentrated in a circle on the ring finger of his left hand.

She had to find out if there was a similar flow within her.

“I’ll try. If there’s a problem, just blow it away with the wind.” “Don’t worry, Ms. Yeon-young, I’ll never hurt you, trust me.”

Yeon-young relaxed her entire body as if she believed him, and she somehow relaxed at the sight of him.

Yeon-Young closed her eyes again, trying to find the core of the ability in her darkened vision.

Ryu Won’s ability appeared as a clear white light, but that was all.

No matter how hard she looked and concentrated, reading the other auras around her, she could see nothing more.

Thinking it was a mental problem, Yeon-young forced herself to look around again, but found nothing.

That’s when she saw Ryu Won’s core slowly approaching her.

 “Ms. Yeon-young.” “Hmm.”

‘Did she hurt Ryu Won?’

***

As the thought flashed through her mind, her concentration broke completely. As soon as she read his flow, Yeon-young pulled her hand away and stepped back.

When she opened her eyes, Ryu Won reached out, his hand touching the small crown of her head.

The tension melted away as a warmth enveloped her entire body. Apparently, she wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Ryu Won also called out to her, his voice somewhat strained.

“Mr. Ryu Won, are you okay?” “Ms. Yeon-young, are you okay?”

They asked each other in the same tone, and then looked at each other in confusion.

“It’s been ten minutes and you haven’t moved.” “What? It’s already been ten minutes?”

Yeon-young was stunned to hear Ryu Won say that ten minutes had already passed, as if she had just closed and opened her eyes.

“Did you see anything?” “Not at all. I could see Ryu Won’s flow, but I couldn’t find my own. Is it possible that I don’t have any ability?”

Under the lights of the training center, warm white eyes slowly scanned Yeon-young from top to bottom.

It wasn’t an uncomfortable groping, but rather a genuine examination of something.

Ryu Won gently pressed the inside of Yeon-young’s right wrist. She didn’t feel any pain, but her hand flinched as if she felt something unpleasant.

He watched her reaction.

“It’s stuck here, I think it just needs a trigger to loosen it, ah.”

It seemed that Ryu Won was also a spirit that could locate the core like Yeon-young.

Seeing Yeon-young’s frown, Ryu Won removed his hand from her wrist.

“I’m sorry, we’re very sensitive about where our powers come from.” “No. You asked me to look into it. Do I really have abilities?” “So much that it’s worthless for you to worry, Yeon-young. Don’t worry, you are more than you think.”

At Ryu Won’s confident words, Yeon-young felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her and she slapped the back of her neck.

‘Why?’

At that moment, the sound of a siren wailed through the training center, and the surroundings instantly became chaotic. Yeon-young’s body froze.

One of the security teams training on the field stopped running and shouted.

“Snarl infiltration at the center, go to the lobby and take your positions!”

The Snarl had infiltrated the center again. This time, it was a mutated Snarl.

Security teams trickled out of the training center, but the sirens never stopped.

Yeon-Young remembered what had happened at the office. The feeling of the thick smoke entering her lungs and slowly choking her. She clutched her throat.

Ryu Won looked calmly at the ceiling. He was calm even as the siren sounded and the ghosts’ faces tensed.

 “Not just one or two.”

Ryu Won muttered to himself as if reading a sign and then turned to Yeon-young.

“Ms. Yeon-young, stay here because it’s dangerous. I think there’s a Snarl infiltration in the lobby.” “Are you sure the center is safe?” “Yes. I don’t know how Jung Jaeho does things, but I’ll check it out.”

Touching his ring, Ryu Won turned on his heel and headed for the gate of the training center. As he walked into the danger, his backside suddenly felt familiar.

Yeon-young shivered in disbelief. She could feel a memory rushing back.

The straight spine beneath his broad shoulders. A man who only went forward and never looked back.

The words,

“You must live,”

also seemed to echo in her ears.

She felt compelled to capture Ryu Won now. She felt that if she let go, she would never see him again.

She ran towards him.

Trying to hide her fear, she grabbed Ryu Won by the sleeve of his shirt.

Unlike the figure she had seen earlier, he stopped and turned around. A familiar smile filled his eyes.

“Ms. Yeon-young, what’s wrong?” “Mr. Ryu Won, come with me, it’s dangerous.”

Ryu Won gently rubbed his thumb over her cheek. Yeon-young blinked one eye as if tickled.

He looked at her, then carefully dropped his hand and shook his head. It was a soft sign of rejection.

“I’ll be right back, just close your eyes and count ten seconds.”

Whispering as softly as a bird in the forest, he walked out the door and quickly disappeared.

Yeon-young’s arms tensed. The siren still hadn’t stopped. The loud sound assaulted her ears almost to the point of pain.

But as soon as the security team and Ryu Won left the training grounds, a strange silence seemed to descend.

Ryu Won was there.

From what he’d seen, it was rare that Ryu Won had to take matters into his own hands, but here he was, and that alone was enough to make her nervous.

Yeon-young was well aware of Ryu Won’s abilities, but she was also worried because she had seen firsthand how dangerous Snarl could be.

“Did he say lobby, yes, ten seconds. Ten seconds, and if he doesn’t come, I’ll go upstairs.”

She stood in the doorway of the training center and counted in her head. 10…, 9…, 8… As the numbers disappeared one by one, the hand holding the door tensed.

 BANG!

She slowly counted the numbers. The ceiling of the training center sounded like it was about to collapse.

Yeon-young rushed out of the training center as if it was a gunshot signaling her departure.
