Chapter 23: The hord's masacker-i

'The hint for the Quest, the Primordial phoenix legacy has been up-graded. In order to locate the source of the Wolf's Corruption, the player must defeat the Hord of un-ded monsters which is led by the two strongest beings in the un-ded raice surrounding the village, the Drednot Skeleton and the Flaming Zombie. Only after defeating the both of them the player could find a hint about the Wolf's corruption.'

'note: the user must not die or else it will automatically mark the quest a failure.'

After reading the quest's hint, Agni was static. For starters, he had not even checked his spellbook and it was not all, but he was only level-2 at the moment. He was sure that even a single low-ranking Un-ded was around level-5 or 6 and the more stronger undeds could either be on the level-10 to 12 and if he included the boss, it would at least be level-15 and usually, the boss is the strongest being in the horde which will appear if someone kills it's minions. And the second thing which made Agni thoughtful was his lack of control for mana. It will be a lot difficult for him to launch and use spells with his lackluster control for the energy. He still remembered what happened in the forest. Although he managed to live-on, but the situation here would be much more kayotic than the one back in the forest because he had to fight multiple enemies, which were more stronger than him by miles and he had to defeat them without using mana because he had no control for the energy and couldn't manipulate it.

The first quest-up-grade was not the only thing Agni received from the quest-log, but there was also something else along with it. It was a new quest.

'Quest name: the Un-ded attack.'

'Quest rank: A-rank.'

'Quest description: the village of Tesq is being attacked by a massive Hord of un-ded monsters and will be breached in 3-hours. You, as the only player in the village have been given the task of protecting the villagers from the Hord. The quest reward will depend on the amount of help the player had done and will vary if the action done by the player negatively affected the village in the attack.'

After reading the quest log Agni opened his inventory and took his pyromancy spellbook out of it and read it's description:

once the most prized possession of a great magus who could wield the fire even more naturally than breathing. Most of its abilities are locked currently and must be unlocked by special means>

Agni only got some normal skills out of the spellbook, but he wasn't mad about the fact at all because of one particular reason.

The reason was that the two skills he gained were both growth type skills meaning, they will become more stronger the more he leveled-up or advanced in the class ranks. By the way, Agni still has no knowledge of the class EXP section in his status and he was planning to ask about this from Novias after all the war thing was over.

until then, he could only wait impatiently.

After his little preparation was done, he finally pulled out the gift Novias gave him when he was giving him the spellbook. It was a dark-red staff, which was about 10-cm long with a fire Chrystal placed at the top section of the stick, just like novias es. Agni was able to feel the thick mana lingering around the staff even while not channeling any mana into it.

He finally decided to read the description of the staff.

'Type: staff.'

'rank: D.'

'Damage: 70.'

'this staff was a gift to a young and brave adventurer who has exceeded the limit of his body to survive from danger. While wielding this staff, all fire-related skills will be increased by 20%.'

'Intermediate mana control: the user's mana will be automatically controlled by the staff according to the user's vil.'

'Envelop: by using mana, the user can cover the staff in flames, increasing its damage for 10-minutes. All the sub-abilities of the staff will be boosted by 100% for five-minutes. But after the Envelop skill ends, the staff's damage will be reduced by 80%.'

Agni sighed in aw upon looking at the staff's description but he remembered that the un-ded were attacking the villagers and he has to go to protect them soon or his quest would eventually fail by itself.

Agni finally left the training-yard and begin his way towards the town's gates. In the way, the seen he saw shocked him greatly.

Corpses of young children's, Men and women were strooned from across the walls and were impaled at a spear. Some were impaled from there mouths and some were impaled from their chests. Blood covered the ground and even the walls. There was no way for Agni to dodge the blood fallen on the ground and he had to cross the blood-filled ground on his feats luckily, when he was in the training-yard, he had borrowed it from one of the shelves. They were training sandals which increased the strength stat by 1 point and nothing else.

Agni soon managed to cross the blood and reached the gate of the tesq village. Massive hordes of un-ded monsters zombies, skeletons, and ghouls were fiercely fighting the defenders which were not more than 350. They were clearly in a disadvantageous situation…

Agni pulled out his staph and started to channel mana into it. With a wave of the staff, the deep blue flame appeared one's again on his staff's tip and slowly coalesced into a small fireball the size of a human finger and headed towards an un-ded zombie. The fireball grew bigger to size of a fist in the way and finally collided with the zombie with a loud explogen.

Boom!
