Chapter 17: The Twins:
Chapter 17: The Twins:
Gu Feng naturally remembered these two.
The elder sister was named Wen Lingruan, and the younger sister was Wen Lingyun.
Gu Feng recalled the plot in which these sisters were attacked by a demon beast within the secret realm and then poisoned by a love toxin.
In the end, they were saved by the protagonist.
It was a very cliché and melodramatic plot. The two sisters, without asking for any formal relationship, stayed by Ye Fan’s side, offering him help.
Back when Gu Feng was following the plot, he wanted to ridicule it.
Did Ye Fan cast a spell on them or something?
Was love in the cultivation world so selfless?
But none of this had happened yet.
The two young women before him hadn’t noticed the danger behind them—a giant python lurking in the swamp had raised its head, its snake eyes fixed on them.
Wen Lingyun muttered a cleansing spell, cleaning the treasured robe she was wearing. As she lifted her face, she saw Gu Feng standing not far away, watching them.
“Sister, look over there, there’s a man staring at us!” Wen Lingyun said, pointing at Gu Feng.
Wen Lingruan followed her sister’s gesture and saw Gu Feng.
She quickly pulled her sister and walked toward him. “Fellow Daoist, did you also just land here?”
In the secret realm, cultivators from sects other than your own were competitors.
But it was still early, and clearly not yet the time to fight for valuable resources.
These two young women weren’t particularly safe here. Until they found their sect brothers, Wen Lingruan decided to join forces with other cultivators—there’s strength in numbers.
However, just as she was about to walk toward Gu Feng, he drew the long sword at his waist.
“Fellow Daoist, what are you doing?” Wen Lingyun was startled and shouted, “If you don’t want to travel together, just say so! We’re not—”
Before she could finish, Gu Feng’s sword flew toward her. It moved so fast that it sent a chill down her spine.
In the blink of an eye, it had already flown past the two sisters’ ears. The cold glint from the sword even stung their eyes.
Thud… splat!
The crisp sound of a blade piercing flesh echoed. They felt a massive tremor behind them and turned to see a giant snake head rising.
Roar!
The giant python had a sword embedded between its eyebrows. Its mouth was wide open, and venom dripped from its fangs. It had missed them by a hair’s breadth.
Wen Lingruan and Wen Lingyun stood frozen in place.
The giant python had been so silent.
If it had succeeded in its ambush, the sisters would have already been swallowed whole by now.
They stood there for a while, their fear gradually subsiding, before they regained their composure.
Seeing the dead python, Wen Lingruan led her sister in bowing gratefully to Gu Feng.
“Thank you, Fellow Daoist, for saving us! My sister and I are from the Eternal Sect. When we leave this secret realm, we will surely repay your kindness. May I ask which sect you belong to?”
“Zhengyuan Sect, Gu Feng.” He replied, his voice cold.
Yet Wen Lingyun couldn’t take her eyes off him.
Gu Feng was already handsome, and with that cold demeanor… Most male cultivators in the cultivation world loved to wear white robes—floating white robes gave off an immortal air.
But Gu Feng preferred black robes.
In his own words, villains should have the demeanor of villains.
This black robe, combined with his black hair and black eyes, gave him an aura that was both cold and noble, without a hint of evil.
“The Zhengyuan Sect?” Although Wen Lingruan was also momentarily dazzled by Gu Feng’s appearance, she was more composed than her sister.
She smiled and asked, “Fellow Daoist, could it be that you’re the recently famous Senior Brother of Zhengyuan Sect?”
“Ah? You’re the Senior Brother of Zhengyuan Sect?” Wen Lingyun’s eyes widened in surprise, looking incredibly adorable.
She stared at Gu Feng with infatuation—he was not only good-looking but had also saved the two of them! And he was the Senior Brother of one of the three great sects, Zhengyuan Sect. Wasn’t this the most perfect Dao companion?
“That’s correct.” Gu Feng nodded slightly, then walked over to the giant python and pulled out his sword.
Not a single drop of blood splattered when he withdrew the blade.
Wen Lingruan, with her sharp eyes, noticed that the friction between the sword and the snake’s flesh had been so intense when he threw it that it had cooked the meat in that spot.
“As expected of the Senior Brother of Zhengyuan Sect. That sword is tough enough to pierce through the snake’s skin, yet in Fellow Daoist Gu’s hands, it went right through.” Wen Lingruan praised.
She could see that her sister had likely developed feelings for this Fellow Daoist Gu, so she intended to build a connection.
However, she hadn’t expected Gu Feng’s response to be a cold nod. “I am indeed very strong.”
After saying that, he directly cut open the giant python from the wound, skinning it and taking the meat on the spot.
The python was ten meters long, and its scales were bright and slippery, making it a rare material for crafting armor.
If Gu Feng were to make armor from it, he wouldn’t need that much. Wen Lingruan thought for a moment and then spoke up.
“Fellow Daoist Gu, this snake skin is probably more than you can use on your own. How about sharing it with my sister and me? We can pay you the difference in spirit stones.”
“We can calculate it based on market value, how about that?” Her eyes sparkled with hope.
“Can you find such snake skin in the market?” Gu Feng didn’t even lift his head as he stored the snake skin, snake gall, and snake meat in his storage bag. “I’m taking these materials back to my sect. Farewell, Fellow Daoist.”
She was hoping to take advantage of him?
