Chapter 37: “The Lightning Phantom”
Ezryel Appears
In the massive warehouse, two fighters stood, both visibly exhausted. Their resonance powers had made the ground beneath them tremble—the fight had been intense. But before either could land the final blow, a massive surge of energy streaked through the air and crashed between them. Both participants whirled around, their eyes locking onto the figure emerging from the wreckage. Ezryel.
He was tall and lean, a confident grin playing on his lips. In his hand, he spun a small amulet that pulsed in a steady rhythm. His stance was relaxed, but his eyes radiated dangerous awareness.
"Na, habt ihr genug gespielt?" he called mockingly, spinning the amulet in his fingers. "Or should I end this now?"
One of the fighters hesitated for a moment before launching an attack. A kinetic spear shot toward Ezryel—but he didn't move. Instead, he let go of the amulet, and in a single, fluid motion, it began to glow.
Lightning crackled around his body, faster than the eye could follow. Ezryel was suddenly behind his opponent—a flickering dance of light and shadow. The spear slammed into the wall, but Ezryel remained untouched.
"Oh, lightning," Ezryel murmured as resonance energy crackled in the air. "My favorite mode."
With a seamless motion, he unleashed a burst of electricity across the room. The attacker was struck by the wave and sent crashing into a steel beam. The second fighter stumbled backward, but Ezryel was already in front of him.
Ezryel looked down at the two fallen participants, then crouched and reached for the crystals they had carried. He weighed them in his palm and nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. Two more."
A faint noise suddenly made him look up. Perched atop a steel beam high above him stood another figure.
"Neo," Ezryel said, not taking his eyes off him.
Neo leaped gracefully from the beam, landing with a smirk in front of Ezryel. "You're still as flashy as ever. Have you forgotten that it's better to stay quiet?"
Ezryel shrugged. "When you're as good as I am, it doesn't matter."
Neo grinned, but his eyes remained sharp and watchful. "Then show me just how good you really are."
