Chapter 3 - The Bloodsucking Demoness
“Miss Lin! Let’s just rush into this broken sect and capture the person!”
“That’s right, this Divine Vision Sect is just a shell now, there’s no one left!”
“Everyone, let’s capture that bloodsucking demoness and then burn her as an offering to the heavens!”
A group of martial artists from the martial world stood behind a female warrior, chattering away.
These passionate individuals seemed determined to tear apart the so-called demoness.
Lin Qingxue had a high reputation in White City due to her constant efforts to punish evildoers. Most people who recognized her would respectfully address her as “Miss Lin.”
As the daughter of the Lin family, she inherited her parents’ beauty, and a bit of makeup could easily captivate anyone’s heart. However, she tied up her jet-black hair neatly, dressed in martial attire, and didn’t make an effort to appear cute. But, she wore a cute cat-shaped jade pendant on her waist, revealing her inner desire for beauty.
Although dressed in martial attire, it couldn’t hide her exquisite figure, and her graceful lines made her body seem like a work of art.
Even though Lin Qingxue tried to make her gaze sharper, she couldn’t hide the gentle waves in her eyes.
She sighed, “If we just barge in, wouldn’t we be no different from thieves?”
While she had a good reputation, others knew that she had a particular trait – she was very “rigid.”
Some people admired this trait, but more people disliked it.
“Divine Vision Sect’s Sect Leader, come out to meet us!” Faintly hearing the hushed discussions of the other martial artists behind her, Lin Qingxue couldn’t help but shout towards the gate.
Divine Vision Sect, once one of the 8 Major Demonic Sects, was said to have experienced a catastrophic event that led to its downfall, and it had basically disappeared from the martial world.
At the age of nineteen, Lin Qingxue had only heard of the legend of Divine Vision Sect, as it had fallen before her birth.
But she had heard that the Divine Vision Sect was a sect with an unsavory reputation.
While other cultivators needed to use elixirs and collect precious materials to refine their bodies and souls, the Divine Vision Sect was strange because they forbade the use of such items. But without these resources, one couldn’t cultivate effectively, as drawing in the essence of heaven and earth was essential to cultivation.
So the only possibility was that the Divine Vision Sect used alternative methods for cultivation.
Therefore, Divine Vision Sect was rumored to use unorthodox methods for cultivation, such as drinking blood, consuming flesh, siphoning the power of other cultivators, and even engaging in intimate acts.
Furthermore, for countless years, the Divine Vision Sect had never come out to clarify these rumors, allowing the label of a demonic sect to stick.
Lin Qingxue clutched her sword tightly, her gaze fixed on the gate of the Divine Vision Sect’s main hall.
As they ascended from the mountain gate, there was no one to stop them, making her wonder if there were any inhabitants left in Divine Vision Sect.
However, she didn’t let her guard down. She knew that she was dealing with people from a demonic sect, and any carelessness could lead to disaster.
Her father had told her to be cautious when traveling outside, as there were plenty of vile individuals. Lin Qingxue believed that among those from the demonic sect, ten out of ten were despicable.
“Don’t worry! Miss Lin, we will definitely protect you!” Some of the martial artists, who were weaker than Lin Qingxue, boasted.
Among them, some of the men were trying hard to win Lin Qingxue’s heart.
Ignoring her stunning appearance, just her identity as the Lin family’s daughter was enough for them to go to great lengths. If they happened to gain Lin Qingxue’s favor, they wouldn’t have to worry about anything.
“Thank you all for your kindness!” Lin Qingxue said, feeling very grateful, thinking that these martial artists were genuinely offering their support.
“Uh… anyway, good morning?” Suddenly, a lazy voice echoed from the direction of the main hall.
He Yuzhou rolled up his sleeves and looked at the various martial artists.
However, none of the martial artists even gave him a second glance. They were all staring intently at Zhi Shi.
Even Lin Qingxue, as a fellow woman, couldn’t take her eyes off Zhi Shi.
Lin Qingxue tugged at her clothes, regretting for the first time that she dressed so plainly.
“It seems that the remnants of the demonic sect are really shameless…” Lin Qingxue’s resentful words squeezed out from between her teeth.
If she had dressed more alluringly, she wouldn’t lose to this demonic woman.
Upon hearing Lin Qingxue’s words, Zhi Shi gave her a faint glance but didn’t say a word.
“So, what are you doing with such a grand entourage to our Divine Vision Sect?” He Yuzhou asked. “If you want to dismantle our sect, you can turn back; we’ve already been dismantled once, and there’s nothing left for you to take.”
“This time, I’m not here to trouble you remnants of the demonic sect,” Lin Qingxue said, though her voice was tinged with jealousy as she spoke to He Yuzhou. “I hope you’ll hand over the demoness inside. We didn’t rush into your main hall to capture her, so we’ve been quite restrained.”
He Yuzhou was silent for a moment before saying, “Indeed, you’ve shown restraint. Others would have stormed in already.”
“That demoness has injured over thirty people and more than twenty livestock,” Lin Qingxue continued, “and they all bear signs of bloodsucking.”
“She’s a bloodsucking demoness, and I hope you won’t protect her,” she emphasized the seriousness of the crime.
True, no one had died in the city, but that didn’t mean they could let Yu Lan go scot-free.
“I see. You can come in and search for yourselves,” He Yuzhou lazily responded, making way for them.
Zhi Shi, with a stern expression, also stepped aside, but her gaze towards Lin Qingxue was far from friendly.
Lin Qingxue naturally noticed Zhi Shi’s unfriendly gaze, but she couldn’t understand why she was being stared at like that.
Was it because she had called her a demonic woman from the demonic sect? It could only be that reason.
“Let’s go in and search; we absolutely can’t allow that demoness to come out again and harm people,” Lin Qingxue furrowed her brows and led the group of martial artists into the Divine Vision Sect.
“Master, is this okay?” Zhi Shi suddenly asked He Yuzhou.
“It’s fine,” He Yuzhou replied with a yawn. He wanted to go back and meditate. Although he would rather read novels and manga than meditate, he had to restrain himself from reading too quickly, so he didn’t finish them too soon.
