Chapter 2 - The Disciple Attempts to Overthrow the Master
The original Divine Vision Sect was not deserted; in fact, it was thriving. The previous Sect Master of the Divine Vision Sect, who was also He Youzhou’s senior, had emptied the Sect more than twenty years ago and started a new one, known as the Divine Wing Sect.
Originally one of the eight major Demonic Sects, the Divine Vision Sect, after losing all its resources, was no longer worthy of being compared with other Demonic Sects. So this new Sect easily took the place of the original Divine Vision Sect and became one of the eight major Demonic Sects.
All the inner and outer disciples had left with He Youzhou’s seniors at that time, leaving only He Youzhou in the now empty shell of the Divine Vision Sect. But his seniors had gone too far; not only did they leave, but they also dismantled the Divine Vision Sect and took everything with them.
In the end, the Divine Vision Sect was left with only the main hall, the scripture repository, the kitchen, and a few rooms for residents. All the secret manuals? All the cultivation techniques? All gone.
Although being a Sect Master made no difference from not being one at all, at least he had a place to call his own, and he didn’t need to find shelter when it rained.
You talk about revenge? What revenge? He had no intention of doing such a thing.
Despite his senior emptying the Divine Vision Sect, he hadn’t wiped it out, and he hadn’t even harmed anyone. The predecessors of the Divine Vision Sect had all passed away for various reasons. All the senior members had ascended to the heavens, leaving He Youzhou as the last one and naturally making him the Sect Master.
Not only did he not want to seek revenge, he had no desire to bother his senior in any way. It was so much better to recruit some beautiful girl disciples right now and enjoy his leisure time.
In any case, he needed to find his happiness as a Sect Master again before anything else.
“Master,” Zhi Shi called He Youzhou.
With her melodious voice, Zhi Shi brought He Youzhou back from his memories.
“Master, are you thinking about the past again?” Zhi Shi asked, trying to understand. She had heard her master talk about the past from time to time since she was a child, knowing that her master was very nostalgic for the old Divine Vision Sect.
She couldn’t grasp this feeling of reminiscing about the past because, for her, the current Divine Vision Sect and her master were everything.
“Yeah,” He Youzhou replied calmly.
Sitting on the ground, Zhi Shi suddenly opened her arms and slightly parted her crimson lips. “Master.”
Hearing this, He Youzhou sighed helplessly, “Just for a while.”
With this sort of quasi-permission from He Youzhou, Zhi Shi threw herself into her master’s arms, hugging him tightly.
This was one of the things she had to do every day. If there was a day when she didn’t hug her master, her mood would be quite low.
When Zhi Shi hugged He Youzhou, it was as if she wanted to melt into her master’s embrace.
The icy facade she showed to others completely melted away in front of her master.
She took a deep breath, her eyes a bit unfocused, and her little face slightly blushing due to emotional turbulence.
Zhi Shi felt that her master had a very pleasant floral scent, but she knew her master had never used flower petals for bathing. Her master made every effort to maintain an ordinary image to avoid appearing too feminine, so the idea of smelling like flowers was something he would never consider.
“Master, can we be togeth—” Zhi Shi, who was about to melt away, exhaled near He Youzhou’s ear.
However, just as she was about to finish her sentence, there was a clattering noise from the entrance of the main hall. A blood-covered girl rolled on the ground like mud, knocking over some wooden boxes.
“Come out, demoness!”
“Hand her over!”
“If she doesn’t come out, we’ll break in!”
After the heavily wounded girl collapsed at the entrance of the main hall, a few arrogant voices outside the door followed.
“Zhi Shi, someone’s here,” He Youzhou patted Zhi Shi on the back and spoke softly.
Upon hearing her master’s words, Zhi Shi reluctantly left her master’s embrace and stood to the side. Her gaze, which was as if she wanted to kill someone, shifted from the girl on the ground to the entrance of the main hall.
“It’s been a long time since it was this lively,” He Youzhou, instead of getting angry, seemed rather pleased. “It’s been a very long time.”
“Is this a sign that our Divine Vision Sect is going to become popular?” he looked at Zhi Shi with anticipation and asked.
“Master, probably not,” Zhi Shi replied with a blank expression, showing none of the earlier submissive demeanor.
The girl on the ground, covered in blood, let out a hoarse voice, “Save me…”
The girl had been observing the two people in the main hall since she fell at the entrance. He Youzhou presence was very tame, dressed in inconspicuous coarse clothes, and had a sword by his side. In contrast, Zhi Shi, who was just standing there, could easily capture anyone’s attention. No matter how you looked at it, in terms of aura alone, she could be considered a genius. However, this Zhi Shi seemed to obey He Youzhou without question.
The girl keenly sensed that she had probably ended up in a very dangerous place. Perhaps if she sought the other’s sympathy, she could survive.
“I’m being chased by evildoers… Save me…” the girl continued, pretending that her voice had become hoarse.
However, just as she heard the word “evildoers,” He Youzhou and Zhi Shi exchanged a subtle, puzzled glance. Being chased by evildoers and seeking help in a place known as a Demonic Sect? The girl couldn’t be unaware that this was the Divine Vision Sect, right?
He Youzhou raised an eyebrow, “Are you here to join our Sect?”
“Huh?” the girl, who was lying on the ground, made a confused sound.
“Master, don’t you find it strange to say it like that?” Zhi Shi spoke without any change in her expression, as if she were as cold as ice.
After speaking, she gave the unfamiliar girl a deep look.
If it weren’t for this person, she probably could have had a double cultivation session with her master tonight, or at the very least, she could have shared a deep kiss with her master. This person was truly infuriating.
Despite this person’s infuriating behavior, she endured it, thinking of her master’s grand plans.
“Name,” Zhi Shi asked succinctly.
“Yu Lan…” the girl answered Zhi Shi’s question in a seemingly weak manner.
Zhi Shi nodded, then turned to He Youzhou. “Master, she’s a good meat.”
“Beautiful girl,” He Youzhou obstinately corrected Zhi Shi’s statement.
“Yes, a beautiful girl,” Zhi Shi replied with an expression as cold as ice.
Yu Lan, upon hearing their conversation, felt a sinking feeling in her heart. Had she gone from the wolf’s den to the tiger’s mouth? No matter how she looked at it, this conversation seemed to be about exploiting her beauty.
She instinctively touched her own face. If that was really the case, she would rather end her own life.
“Don’t protect this demoness!”
“Kill her! Kill her!”
The people outside continued to clamor.
“Young people these days sure are full of energy,” He Youzhou struggled to stand up but picked up a sword. He found it quite troublesome, but since everyone had gone outside and he couldn’t stay indoors, he said, “Zhi Shi, accompany me outside.”
Zhi Shi didn’t say a word but followed He Youzhou from behind.
