{Chapter: 46 Accept it for her as a boyfriend!}

Lin Yuan lifted his gaze to find a boy approaching, dressed in the uniform of the Jiangbei Conservatory of Music. The boy's presence seemed deliberate, as if he had been watching from a distance and finally decided to intrude.

Yu Shanshan immediately noticed the unwelcome guest. Placing her hands firmly on her hips, she glared at him with obvious disdain before snapping in a sharp, biting tone, "Shan Shuwen, whatever we're talking about has absolutely nothing to do with you. Mind your own business and get out of our sight already!"

Her words were blunt and unapologetic, laced with irritation. Lin Yuan, observing the exchange, quickly pieced together the identity of the newcomer.

This was Shan Shuwen, an alumnus of Jiangbei Conservatory of Music and, more notably, a classmate of Chi Qian's. In the original storyline, he was yet another of Chi Qian's endless admirers, one of the many who pined for her perfection. Chi Qian, with her impeccable beauty, grace, and intellect, was naturally the object of admiration for countless men. Yet, most of these men, upon realizing how far out of their league she was, chose to retreat quietly after being rejected.

Shan Shuwen, however, was different. He was the epitome of a rich second-generation "licking dog," a term often used to describe someone who clung desperately to an unrequited love, regardless of how humiliating the situation became. His affection for Chi Qian bordered on obsession. Even after being publicly humiliated and slapped down by the protagonist Ye Feng in the original story, Shan Shuwen stubbornly persisted in chasing her, as if wearing his undying devotion like a badge of honor.

It wasn't surprising, then, that Shan Shuwen dared to approach Chi Qian now. His inflated sense of self-worth and misplaced confidence always seemed to override common sense.

Turning to Yu Shanshan, Shan Shuwen's face twisted in irritation. "Yu Shanshan, do you ever stop talking? Just shut up for once!" he barked, attempting to assert some authority.

Ignoring her entirely after his outburst, he focused his attention on Chi Qian. With exaggerated care, he extended a hand warmer toward her, his tone softening into one of forced gentleness. "It's cold out here today. You should take this. It'll keep your hands warm. And remember, it's important to drink plenty of hot water to stay healthy."

However, Chi Qian did not even spare him a glance. She remained calm, composed, and utterly indifferent to his gesture. Instead of responding, she leaned gently against Lin Yuan's shoulder, a subtle but unmistakable statement.

Lin Yuan, feeling the soft warmth of Chi Qian resting against him, immediately understood her intentions. Her silent actions spoke volumes. She was as annoyed by Shan Shuwen as anyone else and wanted nothing to do with his offerings. Chi Qian had always disliked using things given by others, let alone something from someone as persistent and irritating as Shan Shuwen.

Lin Yuan's gaze drifted briefly to Chi Qian's hands. They seemed slightly cold, and a thought struck him. Rising from his seat, he decided to intervene.

"If you're so insistent on giving this to Qian Qian," Lin Yuan said calmly, "then I'll accept it for her—as her boyfriend."

With that, he grabbed the hand warmer from Shan Shuwen's outstretched hand without hesitation.

Chi Qian, seeing Lin Yuan's bold move, surprised everyone by using the hand warmer immediately. She rarely accepted items from anyone, but with Lin Yuan, there seemed to be no hesitation. The warmth of the device quickly spread to her cold hands, and for once, she didn't seem to mind.

Shan Shuwen stood frozen, his jaw slightly agape. The confidence he had carried moments earlier was now replaced with confusion and disbelief.

Yu Shanshan, never one to let an opportunity slip, smirked and added mockingly, "Did you hear that? My cousin—the richest, handsomest, and most perfect man around—just spoke. He's Chi Qian's boyfriend. Now, do us all a favor and get lost, will you?"

The humiliation was palpable. Shan Shuwen, already intimidated by Lin Yuan's towering presence, wealth, and undeniable charm, struggled to form a coherent response.

"I… I don't believe it!" he stammered finally, his voice trembling. "There's no way Chi Qian has a boyfriend. This is all fake! I know it is! And anyway, I've been practicing piano for weeks now. Today, I'll definitely perform with Chi Qian!"

With those words, Shan Shuwen abruptly turned and hurried away. Despite Lin Yuan's composed demeanor, Shan Shuwen couldn't shake the feeling of being utterly outclassed. It wasn't just Lin Yuan's looks or wealth; it was the way Lin Yuan's gaze seemed to pierce through him, as if silently dismissing him as insignificant. The feeling was suffocating.

"Shan Shuwen… that fly is seriously annoying," Yu Shanshan muttered with a dramatic wave of her hand, as if shooing away an actual insect.

Chi Qian, now sitting upright again, turned to Lin Yuan with a soft smile. "Thank you for playing along and letting me use you as a shield," she said, her tone sincere yet lighthearted.

Lin Yuan met her gaze and replied with a smile of his own. "No problem at all," he said simply.

For a moment, Lin Yuan found himself captivated by Chi Qian's eyes. Her gaze was unlike anything he had encountered before—clear and serene, like colored jade glass, yet unfathomably deep.

What struck him most was how unaffected she seemed by his heightened charm. Ever since his charm points had reached an extraordinary level of 200, Lin Yuan had noticed how people, particularly women, often found it difficult to tear their eyes away from him. Even Yu Shanshan, with her usual brashness and her own harem of admirers, occasionally gave him strange, lingering looks that spoke volumes.

But Chi Qian was different. Her gaze held no trace of infatuation or uncontrollable admiration. Instead, it was calm and steady, as if she remained entirely unaffected by the overwhelming allure that seemed to enthrall everyone else.

Still, Lin Yuan couldn't shake the feeling that his charm must have had some effect, even on Chi Qian. After all, she had willingly leaned against him earlier, an action completely out of character for someone who avoided physical contact with others, particularly the opposite sex.

Perhaps his charm had subtly influenced her, nudging her to trust him enough for such closeness. Or perhaps Chi Qian was simply more complex than he had imagined—a mystery waiting to be unraveled.

If his charm was low, even if it was necessary to do such a thing, Chi Qian might not consider coming so close.

Lin Yuan guessed.
