Ultimate System: Savior of World

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

I look at the paper in front of me and wait for the clock to reach midnight. What is in the paper?

[Congratulations! You won the lottery and got a second chance. You will reincarnate into another world, and your system will awaken when you reach twenty years old.]

Yup. I am a reincarnated person, and the world I was reborn into is very familiar but different at the same time. I am still reborn on Earth, but this Earth is different. There are dungeons for one. What is a dungeon? They are a crack in the universe that lets out monsters that wreak havoc.

When the dungeon first appeared, half of the population died because all modern weapons do not work against monsters coming out of the dungeon. Only weapons that come from the past can do damage—weapons like swords, spears, axes, and bows and arrows.

Other than that, people start to awaken magic and use it to defeat the monsters coming out of the dungeon.

Those people are called Hunters. Hunters are divided into seven ranks: F – E – D – C – B – A – S. There are two more special ranks, SS and SSS. However, those ranks only apply to monsters instead of hunters.

SS-rank monster is a monster that can destroy multiple countries, and SSS-rank monster is a World Threat monster. Luckily, we never encountered SSS-rank monsters, but Earth has encountered three SS-rank monsters.

Each time they appeared, a lot of people died.

It is easy to be a hunter because no government wants to reject anyone who wants to fight monsters. You only need to register with the nearby Hunter Association, and you are done. You can register to join an academy for a year to learn the basics or join a guild if you are lucky or have a background.

Me? I am an orphan and have nothing besides my skills from my previous life. Lucky for me, those skills are something I need to get a good foundation for myself. I got a scholarship and have a part-time job that pays well.

I have twenty thousand dollars in my bank. It might not let me buy high-tier equipment, but it is enough to buy good enough goods.

[System activating… Happy birthday, host!]

I look at the screen in front of me in surprise and say.

"Thank you. You must be my system, no?"

"That's right!" The system speaks in my mind. "I will be your system from now on! Do you need me to explain the basics to you?"

"Please"

A panel appears in front of me, showing me my status.

[Name: Adrian Gray]

[Title: None]

[Class: Not Yet Picked]

[Level: 1]

[HP: 100/100]

[MP: 100/100]

===

[STR: 10]

[VIT: 10]

[DEX: 10]

[INT: 10]

[WIS: 10]

[LCK: 10]

===

Stats Point: 0

"I know STR, VIT, DEX, INT, WIS, and LCK. They are easy enough to understand."

"Even if you already know what these stats do, I will explain it to you briefly. STR is how strong you are. VIT is something that controls your HP. It is 10 * VIT, equal to HP. DEX is your reaction and speed. INT is how powerful your spells will be. WIS is something that controls your MP, and it has the same formula as HP. LCK is your luck."

I nod and say.

"That is easy enough to understand."

"Good! Your equipment stats will not appear in the status window, but they are there. You don't need to worry. Let's talk about the title next! It is something you get if you do something wonderful or someone gives you a title. If you become a Cadet of an army or something, you will get the title of Cadet until you get out of that position or quit the army. A title will boost your power or help you level up."

"Gotcha. How about class?"

"Class! Let's pick your starting class! There are four options for you, host! Here they are!"

I look at the new panels and read them one by one.

[Warrior] [Rogue] [Mage] [Monk]

"Can you tell me about them?"

"Of course! A warrior is your typical fighter who goes close and takes all the damage while doing a lot of damage. When you raise your class level to a certain level, you can get a more powerful version of the warrior class that will lead you in a certain direction. You can be a tank, pure DPS, or even a sub-tank."

"This upgrade class is happening to all of them, huh?"

"Yup! You can change anything you want depending on your stats and title. You can also switch classes when you get the first upgrade. Your stats bonus will still apply, so you don't need to worry if you want to test other classes as well."

"Oh! Perfect. You are the best."

"Of course! I am your system, after all! Anyway, back to classes. Rogue is your typical long-range slash sneaky build. They are speedy and hit hard, but they are cannon-glass. Mage is the man with a stick! They can use magic that deals all sorts of damage and buffing spells. They are known as utility tools for a class for a reason. Monks are the people who don't like using weapons and love hitting enemies with their fists. They are fast and have good durability, but their attacks are not as good as those of the other three. Their next upgrade is the most diverse. You can be a healer, debuffer, buffer, or tank, depending on your choice and stats. So? What do you want to pick?"

I think for a few seconds and say.

"Mage."

"Of course! As a mage, you will get 10 points in both INT and WIS each time you are level up. You hit hard, but make sure to watch your HP carefully, host."

"I understand. I will be careful."

"Great! Now, let's explore the other function!"

Another panel appears, and this time, it is a map of the city.

"The map! You can see the map of the world here. Sadly, if you want to see them all, you need to go there."

"That is fair."

"However, to compensate for this, you can use Fast Travel! You can teleport between 'unique places' on the map. This place is your home, and you can teleport into this room from anywhere in the world! This map will always update."

"That is powerful. Can it be used in dungeons or when there are enemies?"

"No, and yes. No, you cannot use it when you are inside a dungeon, but you can use it when there are enemies around. Sadly, it will have a cooldown of seven hours each time you use this function when there are enemies nearby."

"Gotcha. It is still powerful. This can be my life-saving ability."

"Yup~ The map will also update when you are visiting another world. I will get back to that later. For now, let's talk about skill!"

A list of skills appears in front of me.

"Let's start with [Gamer's Body]! This is a staple skill for all Gamers! Your body now is like a body in video games! No matter how badly you are injured, you'll find that your body always works as if it were at 100%. You're able to keep going at peak ability on only a minimum of six hours' sleep, and when you do fall asleep for at least an hour, your body is completely healed. Negative conditions like loss of limbs, illnesses, or paralysis are also healed when you sleep for an hour and are treated as status effects."

"An hour? That is quick."

"Yup~ You get the upgraded version of the sleep power!"

"You are the best."

"Hehehehe~ Anyway! The next one is [Gamer's Mind]! This is the pair for [Gamer's Body]. If Gamer's Body makes it so that your body acts like a video game character's, then Gamer's Mind grants you the mentality of someone playing a video game. Whether it be drugs, mind control, mental illnesses, or anything that could affect you mentally, you will find yourself totally immune to it. Nothing can break through this immunity; because of it, you are also immune to boredom & mental exhaustion. This doesn't just affect your mind state; however, Gamer's Mind also reinforces you emotionally: No matter what, you'll always be able to keep your cool and keep yourself from being overwhelmed emotionally. This doesn't mean that you'll find your emotions muted, nor does it mean that you'll become a sociopath; it simply means that you're granted the self-control needed to always overcome it, affecting your decisions, no matter how mad or saddened you might be."

Thank god for that. I don't want to be an emotionless monster, after all.

"The next one is called [Tongue of Babel]! This skill lets you learn any language a humanoid being speaks at a tremendous speed. You can speak like a five-year-old when you hear a foreign language. The more you hear them, the more you will learn. However, you still need to train them if you don't want to speak like a robot."

"Got it."

"The next one is [Instant Dungeon]! It lets you enter a dungeon that does not appear in this world. Unlike the dungeons that appear in this world, the [Instant Dungeon] will start weak and grow stronger the more you beat the boss."

"That is good. With this, I can safely level up. At least as safe as I possibly can get from a dungeon."

"Yup~ The next one is the upgraded version of [Instant Dungeon]! It is called [World Dungeon]! It lets you enter a fictional world through media like books, games, or film."

"Wait. If I buy Harry Potter books, will I enter the Wizarding World?"

"Yes. Depending on the book. If you enter the first book, you will enter the wizarding world where Harry is an eleven-year-old boy."

"Ah, I see."

"The next one is your magic! As a bonus for the delay, the creator gives you a magic system of the Elder Scroll series! You can now learn magic from that world. Your list of spells is in your magic tab! You can buy more by going to the [Shop] section, which is the next thing we need to talk about! You can buy a lot of things in the [Shop]! Among them are spell books from the Elder Scroll series. However, it will require money, but luckily for you, you will get loot from each person you defeat, and the loot will appear in your [Inventory]. Speaking of [Inventory], you have two of them. The first one is your typical gamer inventory. It is an unlimited slots inventory where you can store non-living beings. The second one is a pocket dimension the size of 40,000 square feet. You can store living beings in this place, and they will be in a stasis like your inventory. They are only free when you enter this inventory or take them out."

"Another upgraded version of Inventory, right?"

"Exactly"

"Right."

"The next one is the Crafting System! You can buy blueprints from the [Shop], and among them is Warhammer 40k tech! The system does not grant you a futuristic blueprint, and the creator decides to give you a Warhammer 40k tech tree to compensate for it."

"Thank them for me, will you?"

"Of course, host! Anyway, you don't need to do anything special to make the thing you want to make. As long as you have the component and material in your inventory, you can craft them by opening the Craft System."

"I understand."

"Great! That is all of it for now. What will you do now, host?"

I think for a few seconds before saying.

"I will enter the [Instant Dungeon] to test something."
