Uchiha: Strongest Shura

Chapter 18: Chapter:18

Late at night, none of the team showed any intention of sleeping. Instead, they sat around a short table, the tense silence palpable. Finally, Inuzuka Naoki broke the quiet.

"Ugh, this waiting is killing me. Do you think this meeting will actually work out?"

Mariina glanced at Renji, who was silently observing, and responded calmly. "What's there to worry about? Sensei is strong, and the Amamiya clan likely doesn't want to antagonize Konoha. It wouldn't be in their interest."

Naoki, however, ignored her reasoning, muttering to himself. "Still, it's ridiculous that I wasn't included in such an important meeting. I mean, wouldn't it be amazing to meet the head of the Amamiya clan?"

He fidgeted restlessly, pulling out the camellia left behind from the previous night and twirling it in his fingers. "Hey, Renji, how do you even use ninjutsu like this?"

Renji grabbed the camellia from Naoki's hands, a teasing smirk on his face. "It's not that hard. You could always marry into the Amamiya clan. They'd probably teach you."

Naoki blinked, confused. "What does 'marrying into a clan' even mean, Mariina?"

Mariina opened her mouth to answer, but Renji interrupted with mock seriousness. "It's simple. When you marry into a clan, they treat you as one of their own. You'll enjoy the best food, have a place to call home, and they'll even teach you their techniques. You'll be like family!"

Naoki's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That sounds amazing! Are you serious?"

Renji's smirk widened. "If you don't believe me, just ask Mariina. She'll back me up."

Mariina, catching on to Renji's teasing, played along. "Well, in a way, Renji's not wrong."

Naoki gasped, his enthusiasm overflowing. "That's incredible! Renji, tell me how to make it happen. If it works out, I'll owe you big time!"

Renji chuckled. "Easy. Next time you see the eldest daughter of the Amamiya clan, just tell her you want to join their family. If she agrees, you're in!"

Naoki, brimming with newfound determination, patted Renji on the shoulder. "Renji, you're a genius. Don't worry—I'll never forget this!"

As the group continued their banter, Uchiha Kagami returned to the embassy, bringing with him none other than the eldest daughter of the Amamiya clan,Ishida. Renji immediately recognized this as a sign that their sensei had successfully forged an alliance. However, before anyone could speak, Naoki jumped up, a wide grin on his face.

"Miss Ishida, I'd like to join the Amamiya clan!"

Ishida, who had already been annoyed upon seeing Renji again, glared at Naoki with icy fury. "Are you mocking me?" she snapped, punching Naoki with enough force to send him flying across the room. She then stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

The room fell silent as everyone processed what had just happened. Even Uchiha Kagami, usually composed, seemed taken aback. After a moment, he sighed and muttered, "Kids these days… They're really something else."

Renji and Mariina, meanwhile, burst into uncontrollable laughter. Naoki, nursing the red mark on his face, returned with a dazed expression. "I don't get it. If she didn't agree, why'd she hit me?"

Renji, still laughing, patted Naoki on the back. "Don't worry about it. Just keep trying. I believe in you!"

Kagami, finally understanding what had transpired, scolded the group. "Renji, Mariina, stop laughing at Naoki's feeling. And you, Naoki, what were you thinking? This isn't some romantic drama. Learn some restraint!"

Despite Kagami's reprimand, the embassy was soon filled with chaos. Naoki, realizing he'd been tricked, chased Renji around the building, shouting curses. The commotion eventually roused Aito, who joined the fray in annoyance. The night devolved into a lively mess, but by the end of it, tensions with Aito seemed to have eased slightly.

The next mission arrived under the light of a beautiful full moon. The snowy landscape glittered beneath the moonlight, providing clear visibility despite the late hour. As the group of five—now including Fuyuki—arrived at the designated meeting point, they were met with the sight of hundreds of gathered ninjas.

Most of them wore black masks, their eyes glinting coldly in the dim light. The tension in the air was palpable, and their presence seemed to signify the scale of the upcoming confrontation.

The Konoha group's arrival drew little attention. To the masked ninjas, the four Konoha shinobi were merely representatives, irrelevant to the larger battle at hand.

Soon, their presence became unnecessary to notice altogether. The enemy forces, unable to keep their movements entirely hidden, had been detected. The allied ninjas launched their attack without hesitation.

Renji watched in astonishment as the battle unfolded. This was nothing like the structured skirmishes he'd studied or imagined. It was utter chaos—hundreds of ninjas clashing in a brutal, disorganized melee. There were no formations, no tactics, no reserve forces. It was a savage fight for survival, where the sole objective was to kill as many enemies as possible before falling oneself.

The sight was overwhelming for Renji and his companions. Freshly graduated from the academy, they had never experienced anything like this. Naoki clutched Kanemaru, his ninja hound, for comfort, while Mariina's face turned pale as she gripped her kunai tightly.

Renji clenched his fists, his mind racing. How do you fight in something like this? The sheer scale of the battle rendered individual skill nearly meaningless. Here, even the strongest could be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

Still, there was no time to hesitate. Despite their lack of experience, the team knew they couldn't afford to falter. The chaotic storm of war had begun, and they were now caught in its eye.
