[3rd POV]

Hecate's laboratory is indeed completely secret.

It's deep in the worst part of Tartarus, even the King of the Gods, Zeus, cannot find it. 

The primordial god who created this part of hell is now totally merged with it, has given up its own consciousness, and has become part of this area that no one can enter.

The only beings that could detect this stone temple are the giant with a hundred arms wandering outside the prison and the goddesses of vengeance. 

However, the temple is surrounded by numerous protective barriers set up by Hecate that completely isolate their senses.

After accepting Hecate's favor, Ares quickly gathered everything he needed for the experiment and moved them into the stone temple Hecate established in Tartarus.

He had already prepared everything for his experiment with the black pendant's ability to travel through universes, and all he needed was a safe place to do it.

Ares began the experiment immediately.

He drew a massive spell circle on the ground and held the fully charged black pendant in his hand. He then sent the final bit of divine power into the circle under his feet and the pendant in his hand.

Buzz—

The strange spell circle beneath his feet lit up, and the black pendant in Ares' hand began to heat up and glow. He opened his palm, and the black pendant floated up by itself.

"Energy activation detected, authorization confirmed, detecting intelligent entities, intelligent entity presence detected nearby, permission confirmed, confirmation complete, highest authority granted to one, Multiverse Intelligence Dimensional System at your service."

"Wow, it can talk!" 

Ares was surprised when he suddenly heard a voice in his mind and looked at the black pendant in his hand.

When testing the pendant earlier, Ares hadn't realized it contained an intelligent system inside. 

However, now that the pendant had this feature, it would make it much easier for him to operate. It was definitely better than before when he had no idea what was happening.

And for some reason, he somehow ended up with the highest level of operation over the black pendant. 

This would undoubtedly make things much more convenient.

Ares then tried to communicate with the black pendant using his mind, sending it his command.

"Checking permissions... Command confirmed. Searching for universes that meet the conditions... search complete. The interdimensional travel portal will open soon."

As the voice of the black pendant finished, a strange beam of energy shot out of the pendant and hit the air.

Suddenly, the space seemed to collapse inward, as if someone had forcefully pressed it, creating a void and cracks. Slowly, a portal to another dimension began to form.

"It worked."

Seeing the slowly forming portal, Ares was filled with joy. However, just as he was about to grab his bag and jump in, he suddenly felt a terrifying force lock onto his location. 

Then, the space portal that had just started to form disappeared, like a pencil mark being erased from a piece of paper, leaving only the black pendant still floating in the air.

After seeing this, not only was Ares stunned, but the black pendant that had already been activated continued to float in mid-air.

At the same time, a terrible feeling suddenly appeared deep inside his soul, like a warning.

"What is that?... is that Counter Force?"

As the warning in his mind gradually faded, Ares broke out in a cold sweat, feeling shaken.

However, just because Ares was frightened didn't mean the black pendant was scared. 

The dimensional system capable of traveling between multiple universes wouldn't be intimidated by a mere tiny force from a single planet in one universe.

Then, with a hint of defiance in its tone, the black pendant's voice continued:

"The portal is being interfered with by something unknown, activation failed. Activating backup plan. Scanning for objects that match the conditions of the authorized user, initiating the reverse transfer."

After speaking, Ares saw the black pendant in midair, seemingly waiting for the force to fade, quickly opening a small black hole. 

Then, a bright blue lightning bolt shot out of the hole and struck him on the forehead.

The bolt of lightning surged into Ares' mind, shaking his soul. Suddenly, images began to flash before his eyes, like a revolving lantern.

"No, I am your father..."

"I assure you, brother, the sun will shine on us again."

"Is your railgun that strong Misaka-san?"

"..."

Various battle scenes, accompanied by deep understanding, flooded Ares' soul.

In this moment, it was as if he saw the memories of countless strong people fighting battles. As the god of war, Ares couldn't help but feel thrilled by it all.

The very essence of war stirred Ares' soul, and he couldn't help but feel an uncontrollable excitement inside him.

"Swallowed it! Swallowed it! How do you feel, how do you feel?!"

"Master, save me!"

It seemed like there were some strange things mixed in, but Ares didn't pay much attention to it and discarded those images as if they were nothing more than trash.

As the various scenes slowly faded, Ares' impression of them disappeared until a method was used to activate and train a power called "Electromagnetism Manipulation."

"This is..."

Ares thought carefully for a moment, and then a delighted expression appeared on his face. 

He had learned a new method of training that was different from the power systems of this world, and it was precisely what he had been searching for.

However, the downside is that Ares could only manipulate the power inside him, like releasing high-voltage electricity to attack and move at lightning speed by creating friction in his own cell.

Luckily, this was a power that he could use freely, even where Mystery was receding.

"Calm down, calm down. I need to think about this when I get back." 

Ares constantly reminded himself, gradually calming his restless heart. 

He reached out and caught the black pendant that had fallen from the air, carefully storing it close to his body before beginning to think things over.

It seemed that directly using the black pendant to open a portal to another universe and escape to another world wouldn't work. 

Based on the warning, he felt that if he tried again to make such a move, it would attract intense attention from the Counter Force of this world.

This troublesome force wouldn't allow strange things from different times and spaces to freely enter and exit. 

Moreover, Ares was a god, a part of the root, and a "thing" created by the Counter Force. 

It wouldn't let go of its creation so easily.

Whether he wanted to escape his fate as the god of war or use the black pendant to leave this universe, Ares first needed to figure out how to sever his connection with this Counter Force.

Moreover, he couldn't afford to try again so casually.

The Counter Force had already warned him, and if he tried the same action again, Ares figured that the moment he opened a portal to another universe, a complete and powerful figure, a Grand Servant, would descend in response to the Counter Force's call, and appear with a serious gaze.

Even if he were truly powerful and managed to kill the Grand Servant summoned by Counter Force to clean up and cover his tracks, Ares still wouldn't dare to use the black pendant recklessly again.

Today, it might be First Hassan, tomorrow might be Merlin, and the day after might be Solomon, and they would all come for him with their "one strike at full power," and even Zeus wouldn't stand a chance.

'It seems that escaping directly is impossible. To use this pendant, I need to not only face the suppressive force head-on, but at the very least, I'll at least need the ability to hide from it. To do this properly, I'll probably need to learn magic as powerful as the five True Magic.'

Ares thought to himsel, 'But for now, I should head back to Hecate's place and study this method of training the Electromagnetism Manipulation.'

Chapter 25: A Treasure from Another Dimension
