Chapter 4
Chapter 4.2
“Have no fear. Not now, at least—I can’t do anything to you.”
With Lin Qi’s words as an entry point, Yukinoshita Yukino’s blank mind began to think subconsciously.
Are his words true?
Assuming they are, could a being like “A Thousand-Year Old Monster” really be trusted?
And how did he appear on her? If he were truly sealed inside her, who would have sealed such a dangerous existence inside a normal high school girl?
Countless questions sprang up one after another, but Yukinoshita was doomed never to find answers.
“Can I really trust you?” Yukinoshita said, clenching her pale thin lips.
“Do you have other options?” said Lin Qi casually.
“… ” The girl fell silent, unable to speak for a long while.
“Just carry on as usual. Pretend it’s your mind playing tricks on you. It’s nice having someone else in your head to chat with.”
“It’s easy for you to suggest,” Yukinoshita said, looking at herself in the mirror with eyes and mouth seemingly added. She sighed deeply, “Can you not leave my face? This cannot be seen by anyone.”
“Not a chance, this view’s the best.”
In truth, Lin Qi didn’t need to share senses through this manner, but he declined. Being in the Realm of Birth was unbearably boring; all there was to do was tease cute girls to pass time.
This bastard’s definitely up to something!
Hearing the playful tone in Lin Qi’s voice, Yukinoshita bit her lip, feeling an overwhelming hopelessness about her future.
Just thinking about the ancient monster dwelling in her body while she was using the toilet or taking a bath made her want to die.
Hang on a moment. If this thing gets sealed within me, perhaps it’d perish if I commit suicide…
“Stop overthinking it. Even if you rip out your heart, I can replace it,” Lin Qi noted with a chuckle at her thoughts. “Try it if you’re fearless enough.”
“…”
“Stop wasting time and get ready to eat something quick, you’re hungry.”
“A parasite needs to eat too?” Yukinoshita said bitterly with a cynical remark.
“I’m talking about you, idiot.”
As if echoing his comment, the girl’s stomach rumbled in protest.
Overflowed with frustration, she washed her face and returned, preparing breakfast in the open kitchen.
“You know how to cook?” Lin Qi voiced again, the pan in her hands trembled slightly, nearly spilling out the fried egg.
“Don’t suddenly talk to me.”
“No way. I’m bored stiff. All there is in the Realm of Birth are blood and bones,” he said, “It’s driving me insane.”
“So you’re indeed a loathsome being living a thousand years,” despite not knowing what Lin Qi’s domain entailed, Yukinoshita felt compelled to mock him.
“I feel ‘animal’ is more fitting,” Lin Qi brushed off casually. Hostile remarks about Sukuna are none of his business— Lin Qi thought apathetically.
“… ”
“Oh yes, by the way, what’s your name?” he continued, addressing her anew, “I answered your questions faithfully.”
Yukinoshita remained quiet, intently focused on making breakfast.
“Not answering me, huh? Then I’ll lick you!”
To strengthen his claim, Lin Qi opened his mouth and extended his tongue towards her face.
Upon realizing a tongue was dancing on her face, Yukinoshita quickly blurted out, “Yukinoshita Yukino! Okay!? Stop it now!”
“Why not from the start?” Lin Qi smirked.
“I get your scheme: You hope to provoke me so I’d kill you and replace you, right? With Sukuna.”
“Unfortunately, for some unknown reasons, I am neither able to harm you directly nor possess you forcibly. I can only converse with you.”
Besides, he was nothing more than a decent young man, not some Ryomen Sukuna who kills recklessly, Lin Qi thought.
Nonetheless, due to the mingling of memories with Sukuna, he felt his own character shifting. Perhaps deeper amalgamation might cause significant personality changes, perhaps even becoming another Sukuna under his influence.
“Just your little plans ruined.”
She pouted, serving the prepared breakfast on the table.
By the time breakfast ended, it was almost time for class. Typically, she would be in classroom reading books already.
Well, I’ll take a day off today.
By morning alone, her sighs outnumbered her weekly amount.
“Teacher Haseda, it’s me. I need a day off. Sorry… It’s just a cold. Don’t worry, thank you,” she told the school office.
After the call, Yukinoshita started eating her own breakfast.
Lin Qi observed her eating, his mouth not involved despite him having taste, found it odd, “Make me something too.”
“Forget it. You’re not even a person.”
“But I have a mouth.”
“Are you going to shove food down your own face?”
“Through my hands.”
Instantly, a mouth opened on her hand. Though part of her body, there it was, seemingly leading right into her throat, both bizarre and unsettling.
“No way, feels so dirty,” she wrinkled her nose.
“Then I’ll bite your chopsticks off,” Lin Qi’s voice echoed from her clenched right palm.
“… ”
What curse king? More like a rogue boss.
She made a face of disgust, carefully picking up a piece of mackerel. It didn’t touch and her skin, instead, Ryoumen swallowed it whole.
“It truly ate that.”
Frozen for a beat, Yukinoshita, understanding something about the chopsticks, jumped and tossed them into the sink, taking fresh ones.
“Tastes great,” Ryoumen complimented.
“Of course, who do you think cooked it? It’s a shame it’s wasted on you.”
“It’s the same stomach in the end; it doesn’t matter which mouth.”
Food eaten by him was going into *my* stomach?
With new chopsticks, Yukinoshita returned to the table, staring at her unfinished breakfast, losing her appetite altogether, even nauseous.
Knowing the truth sometimes doesn’t bring joy. Should’ve not been snarky.
Now, thinking about the mackerel drenched in his saliva ending up in her stomach made her reluctant to eat more today.
“Ding dong!”
The phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, her already displeased face darkened.
Sighing, she took the call, “Hey, sister… Just a slight fever. No! Don’t come over. I’m fine alone! Really, that’s it.”
Disconnecting the call, drained mentally, Yukinoshita skipped clearing the table, choosing a book to read, “Please, don’t bother me when I read.”
“Alright.”
However, even with silent Lin Qi, agitated Yukinoshita couldn’t concentrate on reading. Yet before long, his voice rang again, albeit with a peculiar tone.
“Hey, girl, something is coming.”
…
School after class, then become Jujutsu Sorcerer.
