Chapter 1137 Marcus’ Bluff

1137  Chapter 1137 Marcus’ Bluff

'Level ninety-one.'

In the presence of such an overwhelming beast, Marcus took no time waiting to see what would happen and learned whatever information he could on the Lava Dragon.

Unfortunately, the significant difference between their levels limited what he was able to see of its status. All he obtained was its name, level, and stats. Whatever skills and racial abilities it might possess were going to remain hidden.

Of course, the Lava Dragon was likewise assessing the diminutive creatures floating above its head. Though, thanks to its Dragon Eyes, it was able to learn everything about them. Even capable of easily seeing through Marcus' False Status unique skill.

'I thought we went this way to avoid running into any powerful beasts or monsters. How the hell did we end up face to face with a dragon?!'

Marcus could only feel that this was some sort of cruel twist of fate. Perhaps things had been going a bit too well for him, and he had gotten a bit of a big head. Now, Mirrion was once again bearing its fangs and presenting him with a legitimate threat.

Still, the Lava Dragon seemed to be sizing them up and had not yet made any aggressive moves.

Seeing as how it was a vastly intelligent creature, perhaps they would simply talk things out and then go their separate ways.

"It seems that I have three interesting guests that have entered my domain. For too long no entities capable of entertaining me have appeared. Perhaps if I enjoy this enough, I shall let you escape with your lives."

Completely disregarding Relia, the Lava Dragon turned its attention towards Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon. Regrettably, it did not seem to desire any discourse. Instead, seeing the three of them as amusing opponents to fight against.

Without another word or giving Marcus and his companions a chance to speak, the enormous dragon opened its maw wide and spewed a stream of molten rock from its mouth.

The breath attack came at them so quickly that it looked like a streak of light.

Only due to having already been ready for such an attack due to having seen Mrazivý use her own frost breath did they manage to escape.

As the stream of magma flew past its intended targets, it impacted the solid stone roof above the molten sea and continued upwards as if there was no resistance at all.

Watching this, Marcus was certain that the Lava Dragon's breath attack was not going to stop until it reached the surface.

There it would seem like a sudden volcanic eruption would occur. Sadly, the only thing they could hope for was that no one would be caught in the collateral damage.

"Stop! If we fight it will cause far too much destruction to the world. As the Supreme Spirit that stand above all other spirits, I will be forced to call in a Great Spirit to restrain you if you continue." Marcus yelled, amplifying his voice with spiritual energy.

This got the Lava Dragon's attention.

Certainly, it had seen that Marcus was some sort of powerful type of spirit that it had never heard of, but it had not really considered the implications until now.

Even for an ancient dragon such as itself, tangling with a Great Spirit would be a guaranteed loss. They had been given their positions by the Administrator specifically to keep powerful entities like it from causing irreparable harm to the world and its populace.

If given enough time, Gronex, the ancient Lava Dragon that ruled over the molten sea in this section of the Darklands, could easily turn an entire continent into a smoldering wasteland. But it did not due to knowing what sort of reprisal awaited it should it do such a thing.

'Hopefully it will buy my bluff.'

While Marcus was undoubtably the highest-ranking spirit in existence, he had not been given the authority to order Great Spirits around. They were inclined to respect him, but he had not been given dominion over them like other spirits.

There was one Great Spirit he might be able to call on if he so wished, though.

Forlorieous, the Great Spirit of Nature's domain was relatively nearby.

Marcus knew that he? Her? That Forlorieous was infatuated with him. If he sent out a call for aid, the powerful Great Spirit was likely to answer.

Still, the Great Spirit of Nature would almost certainly want some sort of favor in return. A favor Marcus was wholly unwilling to give.

'It will truly be a last resort. Only if either Lyra or Quillon are about to die.' Marcus thought, internally grimacing at the prospect.

At this point, he was still hoping that he might be able to intimidate Gronex. Fighting the powerful dragon in earnest would be both incredibly dangerous and a massive waste of time.

Plus, Relia was still just floating in midair with an expression of utter despair on her face. The only reason she remained alive was because the Lava Dragon had no interest in her. She was simply too weak compared to Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon.

"Very well, if you can truly summon a Great Spirit to your side to so your bidding, then there is nothing I can do. I shall graciously give you thirty seconds. Should not Great Spirit appear by then, I shall recommence my attack." Gronex said, relaxing its posture and waiting with anticipation for what the Supreme Spirt of Light and Darkness' next move would be.

Marcus had to force himself to retain a neutral expression. He had half a minute to come up with something before they were dragged back into a fight with an over level ninety dragon.

Obviously trying to flee would only provoke it, and actually calling on a Great Spirit was impractical.

'I guess we're going to have to battle it out. I'm not sure how we'll match up to a mythic grade beast like a dragon that has around fifteen levels on us. But I believe that we have a shot of getting through this. What have we all been continuing to grow stronger for if not for moments like this.'
