Toneri in DC

Chapter 87: Chapter 83

A violent boom echoed through the desolate mountain range, splitting the silence like a divine hammer striking the earth. In the wake of the shockwave, space twisted and warped, and two figures emerged from the distortion—Darkseid and Toneri and slammed through a mountain completely reducing it to rubble.

The air itself seemed to tremble under the sheer presence of the two beings. Jagged peaks loomed in the distance, their tips lost in the veil of storm clouds that churned above. The wind howled, carrying the scent of ozone and stone.

Toneri moved first. His feet barely kissed the earth before he twisted, using the momentum of their arrival to propel himself backward, attempting to create distance. His glowing cyan robes billowed around him as he repositioned mid-air, and flaring his chakra causing the air to buckle.

But somehow Darkseid managed to react.

A massive hand shot forward, seizing Toneri by the forearm with an iron grip. The force behind it wasn't just strength—it was absolute control, it pinned and held toneri in place, a pressure that threatened to bend reality itself.

Toneri's eyes narrowed. Without hesitation, he twisted his body in a fluid motion, bending at the waist and pivoting his hips to maneuver around Darkseid's towering frame. His left leg shot forward in a brutal arc, he made his chakra surge through him and made it boil as he channeled the full power of boil release.

Sage art; Boil Release: Futton Fungōkyaku (Eruption Kick).

Steam exploded from his form, hissing as it met the cold mountain air. His foot, wreathed in a scalding tempest of raw power, closed the distance, combining with the precise movements of his Gentle Step: Thousand Auspicious Omens.

For a moment, the mountain trembled and parts began to melt due to the immense heat.

The sheer heat distortion around Toneri's leg made the surrounding ripple, the air warping from the overwhelming force about to be unleashed.

And yet Darkseid moved.

With an inhuman precision that belied his massive frame, he shifted just enough to the left, avoiding the brunt of the impact. The initial kick missed his chest, but in the same breath—

A second strike landed.

Toneri's knee snapped upward, connecting with Darkseid's neck. The shockwave alone erased the mountain that was already melting and sent debris flying, the ground beneath them fracturing outward from the impact.

Darkseid's head tilted slightly from the force, but his expression remained unreadable.

Then he struck back.

A monstrous fist surged forward, faster than lightning.

Toneri barely had time to react. He brought his arm up*in an instinctual block, chakra reinforcing his forearm just as Darkseid's fist connected.

CRACK.

A sickening snap rang out as Toneri's bone shattered. The force lifted him off his feet, sending a shockwave through his entire body.

Toneri's mind barely had time to register the pain before—

He was launched like a cannonball.

His body tore through the air like a comet, slamming through rock formations before finally crashing near the base of a monolithic mountain. The impact sent boulders flying, dust choking the air as cracks webbed out from the crater he formed.

For a moment, silence.

Then—steam began to rise of his arm.

Toneri gritted his teeth, exhaling sharply as the searing pain in his arm vanished. His flesh knitted itself back together, bones reforming in an instant.

He flexed his fingers. Completely healed.

But before he could even take in his surroundings—

He vanished.

A brilliant crimson glow illuminated the ruins.

The mountain behind him vaporized.

Darkseid's Twin Omega Beams had already been fired.

A brilliant cyan glow illuminated the dim sky as Toneri's form materialized miles away from the now-obliterated mountain range, reappearing near the vast, roaring sea. The salty wind carried the scent of brine and storm, the water stretching endlessly toward the horizon.

A lone stone marker stood before him.

Carved onto its surface was a strange seal, one that—had any shinobi from his world seen it—would be instantly recognized as the Flying Thunder God Seal. One of his many perfect anchor's for instantaneous movements.

Toneri barely had time to process his new surroundings before his thoughts were rudely interrupted.

Behind him, the very air warped and rippled.

A terrifying pressure pressed down on the space around him as Darkseid appeared, his form blurring with pure speed.

Toneri's silver eyes narrowed.

"Impossible."

Darkseid's fist shot forward, an unstoppable meteor aimed straight for him.

"I commend you on your speed," Darkseid's deep voice rumbled, his tone almost respectful. "But did you really think I wouldn't be able to track you?"

The punch connected.

Darkseid's brows furrowed as something felt off—the sensation was too light, too empty.

Not right.

His instincts screamed.

With a flicker of motion, he twisted to the side—

Just as a massive axe came crashing down where he had stood.

The ground beneath them erupted.

A deafening shockwave split the land apart, forming a gorge that tore backward for miles, carving through everything in its path—trees, mountains, and even the sea itself.

For an instant, the sea was cleaved in two.

Massive walls of water rose on either side, hanging in midair before gravity took hold, sending the tides crashing back into the newly formed abyss with devastating force.

From behind Darkseid, a second Toneri stood, eyes gleaming with eerie light.

The axe shimmered, enhanced by Explosive Style, intensifying its destructive power, while Swift Style augmented his speed—allowing him to strike faster than what most could track.

But he had failed to properly bisect Darkseid completely.

Darkseid's figure remained intact, though the weight of the attack was undeniable.

The battlefield fell into an eerie silence—before the sound even registered.

The Truth-Seeking Orb axe shifted.

Its form condensed, reshaping into a beautiful void katana with a glowing edge as Toneri's true form finished channeling a new chakra style into it.

A faint white glow pulsed from the blade—Particle Style.

The TSO greedily absorbed the erasing chakra, its surface humming with unstable energy.

With Swift Style: Shadowless Flight (Jinton: Mueishō) still active, Toneri didn't allow Darkseid the luxury of regaining his composure.

His glowing form pivoted, the sword arcing upward in a vicious diagonal slash, aiming to split Darkseid's head in two—from his chin to his skull.

Darkseid's red eyes flickered.

'That's dangerous.'

Toneri's katana closed in, a weapon of pure destruction and utter annihilation.

But before it could reach its mark, a blast of Omega Beams erupted from Darkseid's eyes—meeting the sword head-on.

A brilliant explosion of light*engulfed them.

For the first time in Darkseid's existence, his Omega Beams faltered.

The combined force of the Truth-Seeking Orb's erasing properties and the Particle Style's disintegration effect clashed against his energy.

His beams didn't just meet resistance—they were being eroded, unraveled, reduced to nothing.

The moment of hesitation cost him.

Darkseid moved, but he didn't move fast enough.

The blade carved through the left side of his face.

Flesh tore.

Rock-like skin shattered as blood of a new god was spiled.

Before the sword could reach his eye,Darkseid reacted violently—

A nasty uppercut slammed into Toneri's torso his eyes widened due to the shock and pain which completely turned his inside to mush, as he coughed up massive amounts blood.

'This is a first.'

Toneri's vision exploded into stars before it blurred.

The force was monstrous.

Two things happened simultaneously.

The upward force of Toneri's slash—the one Darkseid had barely dodged—continued its path. The energy wave erased the clouds above them, parting the heavens as it shot into space.

Darkseid's uppercut caved in the entire region. The very earth cracked and folded inward, sending massive fissures through the battlefield.

Toneri's body was launched skyward—

Beyond the clouds.

Beyond the stratosphere.

Into orbit.

____

A vast silence enveloped him.

Toneri floated in orbit, his body bathed in the eerie glow of space. The last remnants of steam dissipated from his form, signaling the completion of his instantaneous regeneration.

Already healed.

His lungs, heart, bones—everything had been restored before he even left the atmosphere.

No chakra, no effort. Just pure Otsutsuki resilience.

This was what made the Otsutsuki clan truly terrifying.

Yes, they wielded power so vast it defied reality itself. Yes, they brought new meaning and rules to existence.

But it wasn't just their strength.

It was their tenacity.

Unlike shinobi like Uzumaki Naruto or Hashirama Senju, who required chakra—even if only minuscule amounts—to activate their healing abilities, the Otsutsuki healed naturally.

They had even discovered ways to circumvent death entirely.

Even though Toneri was only half Otsutsuki, his nigh-infinite chakra compensated for the other half—making him something far beyond even the shinobi's comprehension.

He let out a slow breath, his Tenseigan glowing softly as he gazed down.

His moment of reflection was cut short.

Darkseid was coming.

The tyrant of Apokolips rocketed upward, tearing through space like a falling star in reverse. His burning crimson eyes locked onto Toneri, blazing with raw, unfathomable power.

A sudden surge of energy.

Toneri's pupils contracted as Darkseid unleashed his Omega Beams—but this time, they were faster than anything he had ever released before.

There was no time for hesitation.

Toneri reacted instantly.

A single Truth-Seeking Ball formed at his fingertip, shimmering with compressed energy.

His Tenseigan Chakra Mode flared, its power focusing into the sphere.

The Truth-Seeking Ball began to shrink.

Condensing.

Tighter. Denser.

Until—

A black beam surrounded by an emerald glow burst forth.

The moment it was fired, the beam expanded to twice Toneri's width, racing forward with blinding speed.

Emerald Wheel Reincarnation Explosion (Emerarudo Tensei Baku).

The sheer force of its release rippled through space around him, the glow of the emerald flames casting an eerie light across the void.

The collision course was set.

Of course this wasn't an ordinary attack.

These emerald flames fed off chakra itself.

Once they latched onto a target, they would continue burning, consuming the enemy's energy until their very body stopped producing chakra—or, in this case, Darkseid's equivalent power source.

'Let's see how it works against your energy, Darkseid,' Toneri thought.

Yet, even at this fraction of its full power, the attack was devastating.

Toneri had intentionally held back, afraid of what unleashing it at full force could do to the planet below should he miss.

Even at this reduced level, it had enough power to glass a desert larger than all of Sunagakure and its surrounding regions.

Darkseid's brows furrowed.

For the first time, he seemed puzzled.

Then, his frown deepened.

Instead of slowing, he increased the intensity of his beams, pushing even more power into them as the two devastating forces raced toward each other.

A dull collision. It wasn't an explosion, nor a shattering impact—it was something far more profound. The space between bent, distorted, as two colossal forces clashed with a force beyond comprehension.

One was red, ominous in its relentless, all-consuming fury—Darkseid's Omega Beams, a power that could erase existence itself.

The other was black, with an emerald hue, spiraling like a voracious devouring wheel, Toneri's energy attack threatening to consume all in its master's path.

The struggle between the two forces was immediate and overwhelming.

Space itself warped as the Omega Beams gradually pierced through the emerald wheel, pushing through inch by inch, cutting a burning crimson path through its dark core.

Darkseid smirked.

Toneri tilted his head, his glowing cyan eyes brimming with an eerie calmness.

"Oh? You think that's funny, hmm?"

His finger twitched.

The emerald wheel trembled—then surged forward.

Raw power erupted.

The Omega Beams, once slicing through, were now being pushed back entirely.

Darkseid's smirk vanished.

He narrowed his eyes, watching the interaction of energies with hidden intrigue.

The emerald wheel wasn't just negating his beams—it was breaking them down, weakening them.

And then, it burned them.

Darkseid's eyes widened for the briefest moment.

'Burned them?'

The thought was absurd. His Omega Beams were a fundamental force of destruction—yet here they were, being devoured and eroded before his very eyes.

Before he could analyze further, his beams were completely swallowed up.

He moved—instantly.

A blur of motion as he twisted away, just narrowly avoiding the emerald wheel as it cut through the void like a death sentence.

His annoyance spiked.

His rage boiled.

The child—no, the man—before him was proving to be far more than a curiosity.

Darkseid had been intrigued at first. A being of unique power and presence, one that he would have studied, dissected, understood.

But now?

Lunaris was becoming an irritation.

One that needed to be eradicated.

This battle shouldn't have taken this long

The gap between Lunaris and himself should have been clear, absolute.

And yet…

'He's still holding back.'

Darkseid's narrowed eyes gleamed.

Then—

He moved.

With a single step, he exploded into action.

His entire forearm ignited, wreathed in pulsating Omega Energy, burning with a power that could incinerate worlds.

And then—

He was at Toneri's side.

The impact was instant.

A single, devastating punch slammed into Toneri's back.

Pain.

Agony.

'W-what… d-did he just—?'

Toneri's thoughts shattered as his back was completely blown out.

His body ruptured, his torso detonating outward, obliterated entirely.

Yet, before Darkseid could even draw his fist back, Toneri's form was already

reconstructing itself.

Darkseid saw it.

His expression didn't change, but something in his gaze darkened.

Toneri, now nothing but a broken body of regenerating flesh and chakra, was sent hurtling down toward Earth.

His trajectory was clear.

The Amazon Rainforest.

Darkseid followed.

The descent was monstrous.

The sheer speed of Toneri's fall split the sky burning streak crashing toward the Earth.

Yet—

Before impact, he shifted.

With a graceful movement, he twisted away* at the last second—

And then—

BOOM.

The entire region was instantly vaporized.

Tens of miles—gone.

A colossal crater, deep enough to swallow entire cities, was all that remained.

Then—

A glowing cyan foot cut through the smoke and debris.

It collided with Darkseid's forearm in a flash of force.

Before Toneri could withdraw, Darkseid grabbed his leg.

A single, fluid motion—

Toneri was yanked forward and pinned down.

Then— Pain.

His left arm crumbled.

The*muscles shredded into pulp.

The bones collapsed into fragments.

Darkseid's fist connected—again and again.

The region beneath them broke apart.

Then—

It sank into the ocean.

Over a hundred mile of land collapsed into the sea.

The Earth shook.

Toneri didn't resist the pain.

He didn't fear it.

Because even as his bones shattered, they were already reforming.

Blood, flesh, and chakra wove together in microseconds.

But he needed to move.

With a single thought—

Shinra Tensei.

The force erupted from him, hurling Darkseid away.

Then—

A green orb manifested in Toneri's palm.

A whisper.

"Localized Reincarnation Explosion—Kinbō Tensei Baku."

Unlike the version used against Naruto, where the explosion occurred after chakra absorption, this time—

Darkseid didn't possess chakra.

So Toneri*pumped his own energy into it

The moment it made contact—

Detonation.

A colossal, yellow-orange burst of energy erupted from the water, instantly vaporizing millions upon millions of gallons of ocean.

The force didn't sink the continent, but it was carefully focused, its sheer impact hurling Darkseid upward.

Then—

A massive emerald fist appeared.

It struck with lightning speed.

Then another.

And another.

An unending barrage.

Each colossal strike hammered Darkseid further into the sky.

Toneri rose from the depths, steam rolling off his form.

"Yasogami Kūgeki."

The barrage was relentless.

Each fist was powerful enough to destroy an entire city.

The shockwaves alone were annihilating forests, mountains, all life below.

Toneri narrowed his eyes.

This needed to end.

He had been sensing the damage their battle was doing to the planet.

He had to take this elsewhere.

As Darkseid was hurled past the stratosphere, Toneri teleported.

He appeared before him.

A lone Truth-Seeking Ball in hand.

He clasped his hands together.

The orb split into two.

Then—

It flattened.
