Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Hide-and-Seek? Steve Says It's Simple

"Go on, play then."

With a casual flick, Fu Zhu sent another snowball smacking into Xing's face, knocking her right onto her backside on the ground.

Xing unhappily scrambled up, ran over to Fu Zhu, and reached out, trying to pry open the hand he held the snowballs in, intending to take them by force.

But no matter how much strength she used, Fu Zhu's fingers wouldn't budge an inch. Xing couldn't even manage to secretly knock half the snowball out of his hand to stop him from throwing it at her; the soft snowball was as solid as an iron ball.

Seeing Xing struggle with his right hand for quite some time, Fu Zhu finally handed her the snowballs from his pocket, letting her go play elsewhere. He himself hefted the stone shovel and continued excavating the snow layer before him.

When Dan Heng saw Fu Zhu suddenly start digging snow, he initially wanted to say that they already had leather boots that prevented sinking into the snow, making clearing the path unnecessary. However, seeing that Fu Zhu's speed while clearing the snow layer wasn't any slower than their walking speed on top of it, he didn't say anything more.

Who knew, maybe these snowballs were useful to Fu Zhu?

After all, Fu Zhu had already demonstrated the peculiar nature of the snowballs moments ago – they could forcefully make an opponent stumble. Used well, it could be a divine artifact!

In a battle between experts, even a small mistake is often fatal.

After witnessing the strange property of the snowballs, even someone with Dan Heng's calm disposition couldn't help but feel tempted to ask Fu Zhu for more snowballs to use as hidden weapons. As the Astral Express's guard, he had many situations to prepare for.

The group continued forward. Fu Zhu took the lead, responsible for clearing a path. Dan Heng lagged behind the other three, guarding against sneak attacks from the rear. Xing and March 7th were responsible for livening up the atmosphere in the middle of the group, playfully hitting each other with snowballs.

As they walked, Fu Zhu suddenly stopped. March 7th and Xing, busy smearing snow on each other's faces mid-group, couldn't brake in time and both bumped into Fu Zhu's back.

"Ouch! Fu Zhu, why did you stop? Is there something ahead?"

March 7th raised a hand to wipe the snow off her face, peeking out from behind Fu Zhu to look ahead. Apart from the snow layers, she didn't see anything else.

Fu Zhu narrowed his eyes, his gaze shifting slightly down and to the right. He raised a finger to his lips, signaling March 7th and Xing to be quiet.

The two girls knew this wasn't the time for games and immediately clamped their hands over each other's mouths and noses.

Noticing the group had stopped, Dan Heng quickly walked over and asked.

"Is something wrong?"

Fu Zhu nodded. "There's someone hiding up ahead."

Ever since Fu Zhu inherited all of Steve's characteristics, whether it was Steve's unique Collision Box Observation Mode or anything else, he had inherited it all, including the Sound Display Subtitles from MC.

Therefore, in the bottom right corner of Fu Zhu's vision, text would always display indicating objects or creatures making sounds nearby.

And just moments ago, he clearly glimpsed a notification pop up in the Sound Display Subtitles that he had never seen before.

[Sampo (Human): Panting]

Although he didn't know the background of this person named Sampo, the fact that he was hiding on their path forward meant they had to be careful regardless.

Hearing Fu Zhu say someone was hiding nearby, Dan Heng immediately leaped onto the snow layer and scanned the surroundings. There were no hiding places anywhere nearby, only a boundless snowfield stretching as far as the eye could see. The person could only be hiding under the snow.

"Can you find that person?"

"Of course."

Fu Zhu gripped his stone shovel and glanced around. For dealing with people hiding like this, the simplest and most brutal method was to dig up all possible hiding spots!

The best hiding places around here were these thick snow layers. As long as he dug them all up, the person would have nowhere to hide. If they weren't in the snow, well, he could just use a stone pickaxe to dig up the ground too.

Clearing out all blocks in a specific area – that was Steve's specialty. Dozens of methods to choose from!

Fu Zhu raised his hand and swung the stone shovel. With each swing, 64 blocks of snow around him would abruptly disappear, replaced by countless snowballs scattered on the dirt ground revealed beneath.

Dan Heng, observing from atop the snow layer, saw the ground beneath his feet gradually vanishing and had no choice but to retreat to the side.

He had initially thought Fu Zhu would track the hidden person by sound or some other clue, especially since he'd noticed the hidden person while they were advancing earlier. He hadn't expected Fu Zhu to simply choose to destroy the entire area the person could be hiding in.

It was so simple and brutal, yet incredibly efficient.

In just a few seconds, Dan Heng and the others suddenly saw a blue-haired man appear amidst a patch of snow Fu Zhu had just dug away.

Perhaps because the snow covering him had vanished so abruptly, he was still in a half-prone position, his butt sticking up towards Dan Heng and the others.

The sudden disappearance of the snow blocks also left Sampo rather bewildered. He reached out a hand to touch the empty space beneath him, then fell flat on the ground with a splat.

"Aiyo..."

Sampo had just let out a cry of pain and was starting to get up, butt-first, wanting to see who was responsible for this, when he turned his head. A snowball instantly splattered across his face. The snowball's forced knockback effect sent him rolling across the ground.

"It's an enemy! Attack!"

"Wait..."

Being attacked so suddenly left Sampo quite frustrated. Although the snowballs didn't hurt when they hit his face, the force behind them was astonishingly strong, preventing him from even standing up straight. Sampo wanted to call for a halt, but the other side's snowballs kept coming relentlessly, like a machine gun.

Xing was half-squatting on the ground, continuously picking up the snowballs Fu Zhu had dug up and furiously pelting Sampo with them.

Dan Heng and March 7th stared at Xing, who had suddenly launched into a frenzied attack, question marks practically appearing above their heads.

"Xing, what are you doing?"

While throwing snowballs, Xing explained to March 7th and Dan Heng with utmost seriousness.

"Based on my experience, enemies don't tell the truth right after being captured. Only after a round of harsh interrogation will they start speaking honestly. Rather than waste words, it's better to beat them up first, then talk!"

Hearing this, Sampo screamed "Injustice!" inwardly. Although he did have some ulterior motives, couldn't they at least follow procedure and ask first?!

If they didn't ask questions, how was he supposed to answer! Also... couldn't he possibly be an ally?!

March 7th was dumbfounded by Xing's explanation and could only look pleadingly towards Fu Zhu, who was thoughtfully watching the pummeled Sampo.

"Fu Zhu, aren't you going to stop her?"

Fu Zhu shrugged. Snowballs wouldn't cause damage to anything except creatures like Blazes anyway. At most, it would just make this guy look a bit more miserable.

Besides, letting the guy suffer a bit first, making him understand their methods, would make communication much easier later.

This was Steve's way of socializing!

However, something else concerned Fu Zhu even more.
