Chapter 6: Opening Up
At the Salvatore mansion, as Frank is still tied up, Richard gets a text from Jason that the job is done.
"The kid did it. Antonio is dead." Richard says.
Marco smiles.
"Good. Cut Mr. Frank loose and get him the fuck out of here." Marco says.
As Richard frees Frank, pauses for a moment.
"Hey, wait a second here. I have a feeling you have more jobs to do for an assassin. And since you don't have one anymore. Maybe we can work something out." Frank says with a slimy smile.
Marco chuckles.
"Your boy said he's done killing." Marco says.
"Don't worry about that. The kid wasn't thinking straight. I'll talk to him, you pay us the right price, and you got yourself an assassin." Frank says.
Marco stays silent for a moment before smiling.
"Tell me more." He replies.
Back at the party Jason and Hailey greet both Britney and Zach.
"Hey, Jason!" Britney says.
"Glad you could make it, man!" Zach adds.
Jason smiles at them both then at Hailey.
"So am I." He says.
Zach then hands everyone a plastic cup of beer and they all raise them up in the air together.
"Here's to a fun night!" Zach yells as they all start drinking.
During the night, they all take goofy pictures, Zach and Britney have a drinking contest, and the four of them take hot sauce shots that doesn't even affect Jason at all. Later on Jason watches Hailey dance, almost mesmerized by it. He's unable to take his eyes off of her, never seeing anyone as beautiful or as amazing as she was. What he liked most about Hailey, was her smile, because when she smiled you could tell that she was genuinely happy. She then makes her way over to Jason, grabbing his hands and pulling him towards the dance floor.
"Oh no, I don't dance." Jason says.
"Why? Too tough?" Hailey asks.
"No, I mean I literally never danced before. I don't know how." Jason says.
Hailey smiles at him, getting really close.
"I'll teach you." She says.
Jason smiles back at her.
"Ok." He says.
They then go on the dance floor. As Hailey dances with elegance and grace, Jason just moves awkwardly in place. Hailey laughs at his bad dancing.
"No, No, No, No. It's all about the hips." Hailey says.
She then places his hands on her hips and starts to move them.
"Follow my rhythm... and my feet." Hailey says.
The two then start dancing with each other, with Jason actually keeping up with Hailey.
"Good." Hailey says with a smile.
The two then start to get closer, staring into each others eyes. Jason then spins Hailey, then pulls her in close continuing to dance. Meanwhile, Britney and Zach watch from a distance.
"They are really cute together." Britney says with a smile.
"Yeah. Should we join them?" Zach says.
"What?" Britney asks.
"What?" Zach replies.
When the party is over everyone is drunk, except for Jason.
"I am wasted." Zach says.
"So am I. The world is spinning." Britney says.
"How are you fine?" Hailey asks Jason.
"I only had one cup of beer." Jason replies.
"You stopped at one?" Britney says.
"Why didn't I think of that?" Zach says.
"I can't go home like this, my dad will kill me." Hailey says.
Jason thinks for a moment.
"You can crash at my place for the night." Jason says.
Everyone is surprised by Jason's suggestion.
"Uh, will your parents be ok with that?" Hailey asks.
Jason stays silent for a moment.
"I don't know. I've... never met my parents. I live in an apartment, by myself." Jason says.
Everyone goes silent when they hear this, saddened by the news that Jason has been on his own all this time. Hailey then smiles.
"Uh, well in that case, sure." She says.
Her and Jason then walk to Jason's bike, saying bye to Zach and Britney who wait for their Uber.
"They are so gonna hook up." Britney says.
"Yeah. Should we?" Zach replies.
"What?" Britney asks.
"What?"
Meanwhile, Jason hands Hailey a helmet as she gets on the back of his bike.
"Have you ever ridden a bike before?" Jason asks.
"No." Hailey replies with a bashful smile.
Jason smirks.
"Just hold onto me. You'll be fine." Jason tells her.
Hailey wraps her arms around him and they take off on the bike. As they drive through LA, Hailey smiles and lays her head on Jason's back. Soon they arrived at Jason's apartment, walking inside and going to his bedroom.
"Ok, so you can take the bed and I'll take the chair." Jason says.
"No, no- I'm not gonna make you sleep in a chair for me, I'll take the chair."
Jason chuckles.
"It's fine, I've fallen asleep in this thing lots of times." Jason says.
"It just doesn't seem fair to put you out, I mean I'm a guest, this is your place and I-"
Before she can finish her argument, Jason picks up Hailey and carries her to his bed.
"Well if you insist." Hailey says.
Jason smiles.
"Goodnight." Jason says.
Hailey smiles back at him at closes her eyes while Jason walks over to his dresser. As he takes off his shirt, Hailey secretly opens her eyes and admires his muscles and abs.
"Wow." She says to herself.
She then notices the scars all over his body and is shocked by them. Jason puts on another shirt and as he turns around, Hailey pretends to be asleep. Jason then turns off the light, sitting in the chair and tries to go to sleep. Seconds later, Hailey opens her eyes and looks up at Jason.
"Jason, I don't want you to sleep in the chair." Hailey says.
Jason chuckles.
"I told you, it's fine." Jason says.
"Please don't sleep in the chair." Hailey says.
Jason looks at Hailey for a moment, before getting out of the chair walking over and getting into the bed. Hailey smiles, moving closer and laying her head on his chest, causing Jason to smile.
"Jason, can I ask you something?" Hailey asks.
Jason sighs.
"You saw my scars. Didn't you?" Jason replies.
"What happened to you?" Hailey asks.
Jason thinks for a moment, wanting to tell her the truth. Wanting to tell her everything he's been through but knows that if he does, he'll loose her.
"Fights, mostly. Life hasn't been easy." Jason says.
"What happened to your parents?" Hailey asks.
"I wish I knew. I don't really remember anything about my parents. I was just told by someone that they abandoned me." Jason says.
"Really?"
"Yeah. All I remember is mothers face. I've been on my own since I was four years old." Jason says.
"That must have been lonely." Hailey says.
Jason stays silent for a moment.
"Yeah. It was. Not right now, though."
Hailey smiles and the two stare into each others eyes and lean closer to each other. They then share a kiss as the moonlight shine down on them. They both then smile at each other then the two cuddle and Hailey falls asleep on his chest.
