Chapter 9: Kiss Goodbye! The Protagonist Is Furious! The Female Lead Is Up to Something?:

A seductive voice whispered in his ear, “Oh? It seems like you’re reluctant to leave me. Should we head to a hotel?”

“Absolutely not!” Xia Mengyao shook her head quickly, her face flustered.

Glancing around to make sure no one was watching, she stood on her toes, aiming to kiss Xu Hao on the cheek. But just as she was about to make contact, Xu Hao tilted his head. In that instant, their lips met, leaving Xia Mengyao completely stunned.

Her mind went blank. She could only focus on one thought—this was her first kiss.

She tried to pull away, but Xu Hao’s hand firmly held her in place, preventing her from moving. Time seemed to stretch on, and by the time she could finally breathe again, Xu Hao had already left. She stood there, dazed, her body trembling as she watched the luxury Porsche disappear from sight.

Left standing alone, Xia Mengyao looked fragile and helpless, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

Time passed slowly.

At some point, a figure appeared beside her—it was Lin Feng. After leaving the building earlier, he hadn’t gone far, instead choosing to keep an eye on the situation.

And sure enough, he uncovered the truth.

From what he observed, this stunning young woman and that smug guy didn’t seem to have any real romantic connection. Xu Hao had been escorted by bodyguards into a luxury car, and Lin Feng immediately pieced it together—Xu Hao must have threatened her.

When he saw Xu Hao forcefully kiss her, it nearly made Lin Feng’s blood boil.

[Ding! you’ve gained Lin Feng’s anger value +987]

Watching Xu Hao leave while the young woman remained standing there, looking so pitiful, Lin Feng finally couldn’t hold back any longer.

“Did he threaten you? Don’t worry, I can help.” Lin Feng flashed a confident smile.

As a renowned genius doctor, he had every reason to feel assured. Xu Hao’s background might be unusual, but Lin Feng wasn’t intimidated.

While Xu Hao may come from wealth and influence, Lin Feng had a power far greater than money—control over life and death. In this era of peace, where assassination was rare, people feared incurable diseases more than anything. With his medical skills, he could bring people back from the brink of death.

Lin Feng knew that with his talents, it wouldn’t take long to build an enormous network of connections. Dealing with Xu Hao would eventually be child’s play.

According to the novel’s natural progression, Lin Feng’s plan would succeed. However, when it came to Xu Hao, things might not go as expected…

Xia Mengyao looked at Lin Feng, confused for a moment. She couldn’t help but notice his somewhat outdated attire, as if he had just emerged from some remote village. She shook her head, flagged down a taxi, and left without a word.

Lin Feng stood there, stunned. “…”

The confident smile on his face froze. She didn’t even believe him.

“Damn it, I forgot to ask for her name.”

The next morning—

Xu Hao woke up on a luxurious Simmons bed, his life of wealth and leisure as carefree as ever. He could sleep until dawn, unbothered by the nine-to-five grind.

After freshening up, Xu Hao ordered his bodyguard to drive him to the company.

As the sole heir to the Xu family fortune, he was destined to inherit a business empire worth hundreds of billions. To give him some experience, his family had provided him with a ten-billion-dollar startup fund, encouraging him to build something of his own.

Initially, Xu Hao had been enthusiastic and founded Haotian Investment Co., Ltd. With his sharp vision and ample resources, the company had achieved success. But as the novelty faded, so did his interest. He soon became just another wealthy playboy, wasting his time in clubs and spending his days with other spoiled young masters of the city. His company had been all but forgotten, now left in the hands of a professional manager.

But now that he had returned, things had to change.

If he wanted to go up against the protagonists in this world, relying solely on his family’s wealth wouldn’t be enough. He needed power of his own.

The car pulled up in front of a towering office building in the heart of the business district. This prime location housed his company.

“CEO, welcome!” Zhao Ming, the professional manager, had been waiting at the door. The moment he saw Xu Hao, he greeted him respectfully.

Xu Hao gave him a brief nod and entered the building.

“Who’s that man with Manager Zhao? Why’s he being so respectful?” one of the employees whispered.

“Shh… don’t talk nonsense. That’s the CEO of our company.”

“Oh! Good morning, CEO!”

Many new employees hadn’t seen Xu Hao before, but as soon as they realized who he was, they quickly greeted him. He acknowledged them as he made his way up to the fifth floor and into the president’s office.

The office was spacious and lavishly decorated with expensive paintings and antiques. There was even a small private room attached—clearly a bedroom.

Xu Hao smirked. This setup was a bit too indulgent, even for him.

It seemed like finding a secretary should be his next priority.

Hmm… maybe he could hire a female lead from the novel as his secretary? In the novel, there were plenty of talented and beautiful women who fit the role—capable of managing the company and perhaps even keeping him company during late nights…

Before he knew it, the morning had passed, and Xu Hao hadn’t accomplished much. He’d toured the company, met the staff, and reviewed a few projects.

Zhao Ming was a capable manager. Though not particularly gifted, he had kept the company running smoothly in Xu Hao’s absence.

But Xu Hao knew that if the company was to grow rapidly, he needed to invest in high-return projects. The market was crowded, and finding such opportunities was becoming increasingly difficult.

For Xu Hao, though, this wasn’t a problem. He knew of a land development project that would yield enormous returns—one held by a female protagonist. The land was soon to be designated as the site of a new commercial district, and its value would skyrocket.

All Xu Hao had to do was secure the land, and the profits would be in the tens of billions.

He smiled to himself. It seemed time to have a conversation with the heroine.

Just then, the phone on his desk rang. The caller ID read “Dear.”

“Xiao Mingyue?” He answered the call after a moment’s hesitation.

“Xu Hao, I’m at the Shengshi Hotel. Let’s meet and talk. It’s time we cleared the air.” Her voice was cold, and before he could respond, she hung up.

What the hell?

Xu Hao stared at the phone, dumbfounded. She didn’t even wait for a reply before hanging up.

“Is she really that dismissive of me?” he sneered.

Xiao Mingyue was certainly a tough, icy woman, but as far as Xu Hao knew, she didn’t have much backing.

Where did she get this kind of boldness?

Looking at her contact name, he felt a wave of disgust and promptly deleted it. He tapped the edge of the table thoughtfully before finally calling his driver.

It was time to meet this cold, untouchable female lead in person.
