The Time-Limited Elixir of the Ruined Clan

Chapter 2

Only now does she acknowledge how much she pretended to be indifferent in the face of death. How much she wanted to live.

Even if she couldn’t become a great master of the Murim, she wanted to live healthily and freely.

The stars that appeared in Ryeon’s eyes sparkled brightly.

“I will get rid of everything that hinders my perfect health and longevity!”

It was frustrating to realize that she had possessed this power in the past but had fallen helplessly due to her ignorance of its nature. However, Ryeon quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts.

‘No. It’s fine since I’m back now! Let’s just think positively.’

Although she wasn’t completely healthy yet and was already seeing warnings about how to manage her energy within the next two months, she believed that things would work out somehow.

Ryeon thought positively and reached out for the fan placed beside her pillow.

‘Okay, let’s start by using the energy to quickly reduce the amount I have.’

It was to use ‘Purification,’ one of her abilities. A gentle breeze began to blow, and the air felt refreshing, accompanied by the illusion of hearing the sounds of nature from somewhere.

Then, as if to show off, her energy levels dropped.

 “Wow!”

 Strength : 4(1▲) / 100
Energy : 75 (1 ▼) / 100 Just a little bit.

‘How about purifying the air everywhere I go? Should I become a walking air purifier?’

Ryeon couldn’t help but smile brightly at that thought as she fanned the air and purified it in every corner of the room.

When she had gone around the entire spacious residence, wasn’t she suddenly feeling a little dizzy?

 “H…huh?”

 Strength : 1(3▼) / 100
Energy : 79(4▲) / 100
Warning: Do not concentrate the energy…

 “What is this…”

Ryeon stared at the fan with a reluctant expression. The energy level had noticeably increased, turning bright red as if it had been injected.

In the air that was much clearer and fresher than at the top of the mountain, Ryeon fell down on the bed with a vain face.

The surroundings were completely filled with the energy she had scattered. As the air was purified, the energy was slowly returning to her.

 * * *

 Purification : 2 stars (1▲)
Strength : 4 / 100
Energy : 68 / 100 Ryeon glared at the mirror.

Warning: Please try to keep your energy below 50. The letters floating on the mirror seemed to tease her.

She could implement this warning anywhere she could read the text—on the white surface of the fan, the wide sleeve, the canopy of the bed, the mirror, or even on the surface of the water in a bowl.

She regained her senses in the fall, just before the frost set in. Since then, the year changed, and after passing her birthday in February and turning eight years old, she spent several months in recovery. During this time, her lifespan also wavered.

Two months remaining, one month and a half remaining, then two months remaining again…

‘But then, how on earth am I supposed to use my energy any more than this?’

Using it for purification wasn’t as simple as it sounded.

It was good that she had purified her surroundings with enthusiasm and her purification had risen to two stars, but the effect of that purification was the problem.

Even as winter approached, the tree by the window in Ryeon’s residence hadn’t dropped a single leaf and remained vividly green, which began to attract people’s attention.

Because of that, Ryeon had to stop practicing purification outside by the window.

Before the ridiculous rumor that ‘Ryeon must have been taken and returned by an immortal since the flowers and trees in her residence never wither’ spread any further…

In addition, the purified small space had the effect of amplifying the energy, which was actually harmful to Ryeon’s body.

But she couldn’t stop using her power, so what on earth was she supposed to do!

‘Should I learn some simple medical techniques and pretend to be a divine physician?’

“Ryeon! Ryeon, your mother is here!”

While Ryeon was lost in her thoughts, the door suddenly swung open, and the person she had been eagerly waiting for appeared.

The person who appeared looked as if a fairy had delicately painted their features with a brush, making them neat and beautiful. It was none other than her mother, Wi Jicheong.

At that moment, the text in the mirror that Ryeon was looking at changed rapidly.

 Wi Jicheong
Characteristics: Mia / Heir / Devoted / Entwined
Mount Hua Sword Technique: Basic
Falling Star Twelve Swords: 2 Stars
Talent and Wisdom: 3 stars Inner Vision Opened
Concerns: Danmok Ryeon’s health, Danmok Ryeon’s happiness, Danmok Ryeon’s future
Help Tip: It’s important to reduce unnecessary guilt!
Other people’s information was very different from her own.

While the level of achievement in the cultivated martial arts was visible, other aspects weren’t visible at all.

However, it seemed that the talent and wisdom ratings could be seen if the achievement of the inner vision increased.

Among them, the ‘Concerns’ section particularly stood out. Perhaps it was the thing that the person concerned was most preoccupied with recently.

 ‘My health, happiness, future…’

Just like Nanny Jang, Wi Jicheong also always smiled brightly whenever she saw her. As if there were no bad things in the world, only good things filled it.

But could it truly be like that? Although there was no way to suppress her worries and concerns, she could not reveal them to her young daughter…

‘Mother… I will make sure to relieve your worries.’

Good health and long life were also her dreams and hopes. Although it was something she had not achieved in the future she experienced.

 ‘I died in my twenties.’

Driven by the chaotic state of the martial world as the Blood Faction brat ran rampant, she ended up staggering around aimlessly and, unable to use her energy, fainted in a tragic ending.

Wi Jicheong never gave up on her daughter who didn’t respond even when she called her for the past seven years.

And in the future that Ryeon experienced, Wi Jicheong dried up in tears and died after his daughter passed away in her early twenties.

Ryeon tried hard to shake off the past. After all, it’s a future that will never come. Now, she can see much and do even more.

“My daughter! Were you eating Tanghulu?”

Wi Jicheong immediately lifted Ryeon up into her arms.

At the same time, the letters that had appeared on the mirror scattered. Ryeon gently nestled into her embrace.

“Mother! Did you come? This was made by the Head of the Apothecary. It’s sour and sweet, and it’s delicious.”

Wi Jicheong smiled again, listening to Ryeon’s voice, which was as clear and sparkling as the sound of bells.

Ryeon, seeing that expression, took one of the Tanghulu fruits she was eating and placed it into Wi Jicheong’s mouth.

After waking up for the first time in seven years, her speech was initially very awkward when she was speaking. However, thanks to the power of balance among her abilities, she quickly began to speak clearly.

“This is really delicious. Even though you broke your seclusion training for Ryeon, you still went out of your way to prepare this…”

Wi Jicheong instructed the servant to send a thank-you gift to Danmok Hyunwoo, Ryeon’s young uncle and the Head of the Apothecary, and then gestured to the servant she had brought along.

“Here, Ryeon. Shall we see what Mother has brought?”

The servant carefully placed what he had brought in front of Ryeon.

Amidst the thick branches, there were clusters of small, rice-like white flowers. These were the source of the sweet fragrance that had been lingering earlier.

“I picked them to decorate your room.”

Ryeon stared at the flowers with a dazed expression. Wi Jicheong smiled brightly and arranged the flower stems into a white vase.

“They are called jasmine. If you keep it in the room, it will have a nice fragrance and add a touch of elegance.”

Wi Jicheong placed a small flower in Ryeon’s ear. Then she closed her eyes and smiled brightly.

“One can hardly tell where the flower ends and where the person begins. Isn’t that right, Jang?”

 “Of course.”

Nanny Jang also agreed from the side.

She doesn’t know if she was truly eight years old, but Ryeon couldn’t just listen to such words in silence. As her daughter’s face turned red, Wi Jicheong laughed.

“‘Why is our Ryeon so embarrassed?’”

Ryeon, hiding her face in the blanket out of embarrassment, still couldn’t bring herself to remove the flower Wi Jicheong had put in her ear. Wi Jicheong gently stroked Ryeon’s cheek.

“Seeing today, new sprouts have appeared in the garden that had been withered for a while. I was so surprised to see that the camellia tree, which I thought was dead, has new leaves. It seems like everything is celebrating that Ryeon has finally woken up.”

It was probably because of her own energy, but Ryeon said nothing and rested her cheek in her mother’s hand.

“How happy he would have been to see this…”

 “Madam…”

Noticing that her fingertips were trembling, Wi Jicheong turned her head.

Seeing Wi Jicheong’s back as her shoulders shook, Ryeon suddenly remembered something she had momentarily forgotten.

Her father, Danmok Hyunseong, had passed away five years ago. It was shortly after her younger sibling, Danmok Bi, was born.

Wi Jicheong, perhaps thinking it was still too early to tell Ryeon about such things, tried to calm herself, wiped her wet cheeks, and smiled.

“Did you hear that we’re going to visit Grandfather today to express our gratitude?”

 Ryeon nodded.

“Grandfather is the one who helped make the medicine that cured you, Ryeon.”

Wi Jicheong explained gently, dismissing Nanny Jang and fastening Ryeon’s collar herself. It was still early spring, and the air was cold.

“Grandfather provided the ‘Ten Thousand Years Ultimate Blood Elixir’ for Ryeon’s cleansing of impurities. It was originally meant for Grandfather’s own use, but he graciously gave it up for Ryeon.”

 Ryeon’s eyes widened.

‘‘He even gave me the Ten Thousand Years Ultimate Blood Elixir?’
