Chapter 8: Chapter7: senju clan
After a tiring yet exhilarating day, Akira walked through the gates of his family estate. His muscles ached from the spar with Tsunade, but he couldn't deny the excitement coursing through him. She had pushed him far beyond his limits, and though he'd lost, he felt he had grown stronger from the experience.
As he approached the living room, Akira heard animated voices. Two were unfamiliar, but one he recognized immediately as Tsunade's. Curiosity getting the better of him, he slid the door open to find a surprising scene.
Sitting in the living room were two strangers—an imposing man with sharp features and streaks of gray in his hair and a graceful woman with flowing hair and a poised demeanor. Beside them sat Tsunade, casually leaning back and grinning at him. His parents, Toshiro and Umeko, sat across from them, engaged in what seemed to be an intense discussion.
Hanaku Senju—the leader of the Senju clan—was instantly recognizable. His commanding presence filled the room, and Akira could feel the weight of his authority. The elegant woman was Tsuyoshi Denshiko, Tsunade's mother, whose sharp eyes hinted at a keen intellect.
Tsunade waved at Akira, her grin turning mischievous.
Tsunade:
"Hey, pinky! Took you long enough to get here. Did you stop to brush your hair or something?"
Akira sighed but couldn't help smirking. "Always with the hair comments, huh?"
Conversation Between the Parents
As Akira joined the group, Hanaku continued his discussion with Toshiro.
Hanaku:
"Toshiro, it's good to see that the Senju name still thrives beyond the battlefield. You've built quite the empire here."
Toshiro (smiling):
"Thank you, Lord Hanaku. I may not have been a strong shinobi like the others in the clan, but I've always believed in supporting the village in other ways. Business is my battlefield, and I fight to ensure the Senju name remains influential."
Tsuyoshi:
"It's a noble path, Toshiro. The wealth you've generated has undoubtedly strengthened the village. With times as uncertain as they are, strong trade and reliable supplies are just as crucial as military might."
Umeko:
"We've always aimed to provide the best products. Our medicinal line, in particular, has been a focus. We're currently developing advanced first-aid kits and quick-healing salves that could be a game-changer for shinobi in the field."
Hanaku:
"That's exactly why we're here. The Senju clan is prepared to invest heavily in these developments. With the increasing likelihood of conflict, our shinobi need every advantage they can get."
Toshiro:
"We're honored by your interest, Lord Hanaku. If we partner together, I believe we can achieve remarkable results. My team can handle production and distribution, while your clan provides funding and access to research facilities."
Tsuyoshi:
"That's a fair arrangement. Of course, we'd expect a 40% share of the profits from all new products developed through this partnership."
Umeko (nodding):
"That's reasonable. We'll draft a formal agreement to ensure transparency on both sides."
Hanaku:
"Excellent. There's another matter to discuss—shinobi gear. If we combine our resources, we can create lightweight, durable equipment that would be invaluable to our forces. We'd also like to explore the possibility of combining our medicinal research with tools that enhance battlefield survivability."
Toshiro:
"I've been considering something similar. Perhaps we can allocate a portion of the funding toward developing prototypes. Once we have something concrete, we can test them with your clan's shinobi."
The discussion shifted to logistics, percentages, and timelines. Akira, observing from the sidelines, couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at how seamlessly his parents navigated such high-stress
As the adults continued talking, Tsunade nudged Akira.
Tsunade:
"Come on, let's go outside. This business stuff is boring."
They stepped outside into the garden, where the evening sun cast a warm glow over the estate.
Tsunade:
"So, pinky, you've got quite the setup here. Your family really is loaded."
Akira:
"Yeah, I've been lucky. It's given me a head start compared to other civilian kids. What about you? What's it like being part of the Senju clan?"
Tsunade (shrugging):
"It's not as glamorous as you'd think. Everyone expects me to be some kind of prodigy because of Grandpa Hashirama. It's a lot of pressure."
Akira:
"Your grandfather was incredible. The First Hokage—he built this village. That's a lot to live up to."
Tsunade:
"Yeah, but I don't want to just be known as his granddaughter. I want to make a name for myself. That's why I push myself so hard. The academy's a joke, though. Most of the kids are either lazy or too scared to challenge me."
Akira:
"Sounds like you need a better sparring partner."
Tsunade (smirking):
"Maybe. But don't think you're up to the task just yet, pinky. You're good, but not that good."
Akira:
"We'll see about that. So, what's it like at the Senju compound?"
Tsunade:
"It's home, I guess. Big, full of history, but kind of lonely sometimes. Most of the clan's gone—either retired or… you know, casualties of the First War."
Akira (hesitant):
"I'm sorry. That must be hard."
Tsunade:
"It is. But that's why I'm determined to make a difference. Hey, why don't I show you the compound sometime? You'll get to see where real training happens."
Akira (smiling):
"Sounds like a plan. Maybe I'll even teach you a thing or two."
Tsunade (laughing):
"You wish."
A few days later, Tsunade took Akira to the Senju clan compound.
The Senju Compound
The Senju compound was a sprawling estate located near the heart of Konohagakure, reflecting both the legacy and the decline of one of the village's founding clans. The massive gates bore the Senju clan symbol, carved intricately into the wood, a reminder of their storied past. Inside, the compound was divided into several distinct sections, each serving a specific purpose.
1. The Central Hall:
At the heart of the compound was the Central Hall, an imposing structure where the clan's leaders once held meetings and discussions. Now, it served as a repository of the clan's history, with scrolls, documents, and relics preserved meticulously. Large banners displaying the Senju crest hung on the walls, alongside portraits of legendary clan members such as Hashirama and Tobirama Senju.
2. Training Grounds:
To the east of the compound lay expansive training grounds, equipped with everything a shinobi might need. Wooden dummies lined the edges for practicing taijutsu, while open spaces were designed for ninjutsu and weapon training. There was even a small forest area where young Senju trained to refine their chakra control techniques, a nod to Hashirama's Wood Release abilities.
3. Gardens and Hot Springs:
The western side housed beautifully manicured gardens filled with rare and medicinal plants. It was said that these gardens were first cultivated by Hashirama himself. Beyond the gardens lay a natural hot spring, shielded by tall trees, which served as a place of relaxation and rejuvenation for clan members.
4. Residential Area:
The northern part of the compound contained the homes of the remaining Senju clan members. Though the area was vast, it was sparsely populated, a testament to the heavy losses the clan suffered during the First Ninja War.
5. Shrine of Remembrance:
At the farthest edge of the compound was the Shrine of Remembrance, a somber and sacred place dedicated to fallen clan members. Stone tablets with inscribed names stood silently, and the air was heavy with the weight of history.
Despite its grandeur, the compound had an air of melancholy. Once bustling with activity, it now felt quiet .
Akira's Observations of the Senju Compound
As Tsunade guided Akira through the compound, he couldn't help but feel a deep respect for the legacy surrounding him.
Akira (thoughts):
"This place is a fortress of history and power. The Senju truly laid the foundation for this village. But now… it feels like a shadow of its former self. If Tsunade's determination is anything like this compound, she'll bring it back to life."
Tsunade paused at the Shrine of Remembrance, her usually confident demeanor giving way to a moment of reflection.
Tsunade:
"This is why we fight, you know. To make sure their sacrifices weren't in vain."
Akira nodded, understanding her resolve. The quiet strength of the Senju compound and the presence of its history left a profound impact on him. It wasn't just a place—it was a reminder of what the Will of Fire truly meant.
Tsunade led him to the training grounds, where a few shinobi were sparring.
Tsunade:
"This is where I train when I'm not at the academy. If you think Lady Mochizuki is tough, wait until you train here."
Akira:
"I'm ready whenever you are."
