The Strongest Son-in-Law: A God-Level Choices

Chapter 5: A Helping Hand

"Damn it, my parents are coming tomorrow? I'm going to have to explain everything again."

That evening, Ji Feng's face fell as he read the WeChat message on his phone.

He knew his parents would be concerned about him being a live-in son-in-law, especially since he was their only child.

He expected them to arrive the next day, ready to give him a piece of their mind. But the contract was signed. All he could do was try to explain and reason with them.

Growl.

His stomach rumbled.

"I'm starving. I should grab some late-night food," he decided.

Ji Feng's apartment was in an old, run-down building. The surrounding streets, however, were bustling with food stalls and small restaurants.

"Boss, the usual," he said with a smile as he arrived at his favorite barbecue stand.

"Sure thing," the owner replied.

The barbecue stall was run by a middle-aged woman named Liu Mei. She was in her fifties and had a daughter who had recently graduated college. They lived together, just the two of them.

Ji Feng had been coming to her stall almost every night for the past couple of weeks. He was a regular.

"Here you go," a sweet-looking young woman said, bringing his food. She was Li Ya, Liu Mei's daughter. Fresh out of college, she hadn't found a job yet, so she helped her mother at the stall every night.

"Thanks," Ji Feng said with a smile.

"You're welcome, Brother Feng," Li Ya replied. "I haven't seen you in a few days. You look…different."

"Different how?" Ji Feng asked.

"You're more handsome," Li Ya said with a giggle.

Her cheerful smile was refreshing, a stark contrast to the icy demeanor of Su Yu.

"Boss, five ice-cold beers!" a customer at a nearby table shouted.

"Coming right up!" Li Ya called out, hurrying off to get the drinks.

Ji Feng began to eat.

But just a few bites in, he heard Li Ya's voice, laced with annoyance.

"Sir, please don't do that."

"What? I didn't do anything. You bumped into me. What's the problem?"

"Just…please leave me alone."

"I saw it! You clearly did that on purpose! You're interested in our big brother, aren't you?"

"Hahaha!"

Ji Feng, hearing the commotion, looked over.

The five men who'd been shouting for beer were now clearly drunk, their true colors emerging.

Seeing her daughter harassed, Liu Mei, without regard for the food she was cooking, rushed forward and pulled Li Ya behind her.

Li Ya's sweet appearance had clearly provoked these drunken men.

Emboldened by alcohol, they were acting like thugs.

"Boss, your daughter is a beauty! She doesn't have a boyfriend, does she? Look at me! I'd be a great son-in-law. With me, no one would dare mess with your business," the fat man said with a lewd grin.

"Yeah, boss, my big brother is well-known around here!"

"My big brother and your daughter would be a perfect match! Let's seal the deal!"

"Hahaha! I'm going to drink Big Brother's wedding wine!"

"We called dibs on the sister-in-law!"

The other four chimed in with drunken shouts.

Some nearby customers, sensing trouble, quickly paid their bills and left, wanting to avoid any involvement.

Liu Mei's face was grim. As a woman running a late-night food stall, she dreaded encounters like this.

Behind her, Li Ya gritted her teeth and said, "If you don't stop, I'll call the police!"

"Call the police? Go ahead and try!"

"Call the police? That's hilarious! Around here, my big brother's influence is…well, let's just say he owns the place."

"You should be honored to be noticed by my big brother, little girl. Don't be so ungrateful!"

"I've had enough," Ji Feng said, stepping in front of Li Ya and her mother, shielding them from the men. He looked at the group of hooligans and said calmly, "Gentlemen, do you want to be the first ones to get in trouble?"

"Mind your own business!"

"Are you looking for a beating?"

"Don't pick a fight you can't win!"

Ji Feng's intervention only fueled their anger.

"Xiao Feng, don't get involved," Liu Mei said, worried. "If they're causing trouble, just call the police." She pulled out her phone, ready to dial.

As Liu Mei reached for her phone to call the police, the skinny man at the front table lunged forward, trying to snatch it.

But Ji Feng intercepted him, grabbing his wrist.

Ji Feng tightened his grip.

"Ouch! It hurts!" the skinny man cried out.

"Damn it! This kid dares to touch us! Brothers, get him!"

Seeing their companion's predicament, the group grabbed empty beer bottles and charged at Ji Feng.

"Auntie, you and Li Ya step back," Ji Feng said, moving to intercept them.

He was actually looking forward to testing his newfound strength.

Despite being outnumbered and facing makeshift weapons, Ji Feng was unfazed.

His enhanced physique made their movements seem sluggish, like ants. He easily dodged their attacks.

With swift punches and kicks, Ji Feng quickly subdued the attackers, sending them crashing to the ground.

"Brother Feng, you're awesome!" Li Ya shouted from behind her mother, witnessing the scene with excitement.

Ji Feng stepped forward and planted his foot on the fat man's head.

The immense pressure made the fat man gasp for air.

"Still feeling so brave?" Ji Feng asked coldly.

"No! Please! I'm sorry!" the fat man pleaded, struggling to breathe.

"Still want to cause trouble?"

"No! I won't! Please, big brother, have mercy! I can't breathe!" the fat man confessed.

"Settle your bill and get out," Ji Feng said, lifting his foot slightly.

"We'll pay! We'll pay!" the fat man yelled to his companions.

Thoroughly intimidated by Ji Feng's display of strength, the group scrambled to pay. One of them quickly pulled out three hundred yuan and placed it on the table.

Ji Feng turned to Li Ya. "Is three hundred enough?"

"That's plenty! The bill was only one hundred and forty," Li Ya replied.

"The extra is for the damage to the tables and chairs," Ji Feng said.

Then, he looked at the fat man and his crew. "Now, get lost!"

The fat man quickly got to his feet and fled with his tail between his legs, his cronies trailing behind him.

"Xiao Feng, are you alright? Are you hurt?" Liu Mei asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Auntie, I'm fine," Ji Feng replied with a smile.

"Brother Feng, you were amazing! Have you been training in martial arts?" Li Ya asked, her eyes full of admiration.

"They were just weak," Ji Feng said modestly. "I like to work out in my spare time, so I'm a little stronger than average."

"You were incredible!" Li Ya's admiration was clear.

"Xiao Feng, thank you so much for what you did. Without you, those thugs would have definitely harassed us today," Liu Mei said gratefully.

"No problem, Auntie. I'm a regular here. You've always been kind to me," Ji Feng replied with a smile.

"Brother Feng," Li Ya said, summoning her courage, "can we add each other on WeChat?"

Ji Feng was slightly surprised but nodded. "Sure!"
