Chapter 325: Outrageous High-Tier Lottery
After finishing dinner in record time, Kaede Honjou hurried back to her room. She was brimming with excitement about the chat group, far surpassing her enthusiasm for her first encounter with NewWorld Online just days ago. She didn't want to waste another moment.
However, before continuing with the lottery, she decided to share the chat group's existence with her best friend.
She had seen a "Designated Invitation" item in the chat group's shop earlier, meaning she could eventually invite Risa Shiramine to join the group as well.
Without hesitation, Kaede initiated another video call with Risa.
Since it had been less than ten minutes since Kaede had ended the previous call to eat dinner, Risa was a bit surprised when she picked up.
"Kaede, didn't you go eat dinner?" Risa asked curiously, seeing her best friend still in her room, just as she had been earlier.
Risa's family tended to have dinner a bit earlier, so she had already finished eating by the time Kaede called before. Curious about what Kaede had mentioned earlier, she had stayed in her room, browsing game guides on her computer while waiting for Kaede's return call.
"I already finished dinner!" Kaede replied.
"Huh? That fast?" Risa looked puzzled at the sight of Kaede's enthusiastic expression in the video.
"Hehe, I made an effort to eat quickly. Plus, I didn't eat much tonight," Kaede said with a silly laugh, scratching the back of her head.
Then she remembered why she had called and quickly added, "Risa, guess what! I'm super strong now."
"You mean in the game? I know that—you've been carrying me through dungeons."
"No, no, I mean in real life, not in the game. Don't believe me? Watch this."
Kaede walked to her desk and switched the camera view to show her right hand and the desk. She grabbed one corner of the desk and lifted it effortlessly with a single hand. The desk, which weighed dozens of kilograms, was hoisted into the air as if it were weightless.
"See? Pretty amazing, right?" Kaede said proudly, grinning.
"What? That's impossible! Kaede, how did you do that?" Risa, on the other side of the video call, sprang up from her bed, her face filled with disbelief.
"This is what I wanted to tell you earlier—something incredible happened to me," Kaede said, nodding with satisfaction. Risa's reaction was exactly what she had anticipated.
Instead of diving straight into an explanation about the chat group, Kaede decided to build some suspense.
With a mysterious expression, she asked Risa, "Hey, Risa, have you ever heard of a chat group?"
"Of course! LINE has a chat group feature. Why do you ask?"
Though Risa was dying to know what had happened to Kaede, she held back her impatience and answered the question anyway.
"Risa, the thing that happened to me is related to the chat group," Kaede said.
"Huh?"
"But it's not an ordinary chat group. It's a chat group that connects to all worlds in the multiverse, the kind that appears directly in your mind," Kaede said, leaning closer to the screen with a mysterious expression.
"Umm… Kaede, are you talking about some novel you read?" Risa Shiramine asked, clearly skeptical about Kaede's explanation of the chat group.
"No, it's not that! I'm serious. My strength became this incredible because of the chat group. And in the future, I might even be able to bring you into it."
"This…" Risa was momentarily stunned. She was skeptical about the chat group's existence, but the sight of Kaede effortlessly lifting the desk earlier was undeniably real.
Risa was familiar with that desk, having visited Kaede's home many times. There was no way it was some lightweight prop or foam replica.
Slowly, she started to believe her best friend's words. Still, she asked with some concern, "Kaede, is that chat group safe? It won't be dangerous, will it?"
"Don't worry! Everyone in the chat group is super friendly, and they're all really strong," Kaede said, waving her hand nonchalantly.
"Really? Then can you tell me more about it?"
"Of course."
Kaede spent the next little while explaining the chat group's features and everything that had happened to her that day within the group.
She trusted Risa completely and considered her to be her closest friend, so she had no reason to hide anything.
Learning about the chat group left Risa utterly astonished, especially when Kaede mentioned that the group allowed members to visit other worlds.
This wasn't some VR simulation—this was actual travel to other worlds! The thought filled Risa with anticipation at the possibility of joining the group.
"Risa, hold on a moment. I'm going to use the ten high-tier lottery chances I bought earlier and see if I can pull anything good."
"Okay, go ahead."
Kaede didn't end the video call, keeping Risa on the line as she closed her eyes and entered the chat group.
At her current level, she couldn't multitask between the real world and the chat group. Simultaneous operation would require further training in the future.
The first thing she did was glance at the chat group messages, finding that the members were still discussing her earlier lottery results—it had only been about ten minutes since then.
Without engaging in the chat, Kaede went straight to the lottery module.
Seeing her ten high-tier lottery chances, she didn't hesitate for a second. She used them all at once, going for a ten-draw on the high-tier lottery.
Just like her earlier low-tier draw, the results appeared within seconds, accompanied by a system notification from the chat group.
[Ding! You have successfully used ten high-tier lottery chances. You have obtained: Thunder Breathing, Logia-type Goro Goro no Mi, Flying Thunder God Technique, tissues x2, one kilogram of gold, 1,000,000 points, a single Nine-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan, a designated chat group invitation, and Onee-sama's Worn School Uniform (Little Skirt Collection). All physical rewards have been deposited into the member's independent storage space.]
[Ding! Notification: Recycling 'Onee-sama's Worn School Uniform' will grant 10,000,000 points.]
Looking at the designated invitation card she obtained from her ten-draw, Kaede immediately became excited, completely missing the second notification from the chat group that followed.
She quickly realized that she now had the ability to invite someone to the group. Without even pausing to share her lottery results in the chat group, she opened her eyes, exiting the group to focus on the real world.
"Risa, Risa! I just got a designated invitation from the lottery—I can invite you into the chat group!" Kaede exclaimed excitedly to Risa Shiramine, who was still visible in the video call.
"Really? That's amazing, Kaede! Quick, pull me in!" Risa was equally thrilled.
From what Kaede had explained earlier, she knew the chat group store only sold one designated invitation card per month. Not only did each invitation cost a hefty one million points, but obtaining it also required competing against other group members.
Risa had initially thought it would take a long time before she'd have any chance of joining the chat group. She hadn't expected such a pleasant surprise to come within minutes.
"Okay, okay, I'll invite you right now!" Kaede nodded enthusiastically and unhesitatingly used the designated invitation card on Risa Shiramine.
[Risa Shiramine has joined the chat group.]
A notification announcing the new member's arrival left all the chat group members momentarily dumbfounded. However, Eriri was the exception; she had already been informed by Little Skirt when Kaede obtained the designated invitation card.
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): Welcome to the group! Though, the name Risa Shiramine sounds a bit familiar.]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): Two batches of newcomers in one day? That's unusual.]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): No offense, newcomer! I'm just curious. Welcome to the group.]
[Arifureta (Level 6, Stage 2 / Group Leader): Welcome to the group! Newcomer, you can check the chat group's introduction and features for details. If there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask us.]
[Arche (Level 6, Stage 1): Welcome to the group.]
[Yuuki Asuna (Level 5, Stage 9): Welcome to the group.]
[Azusa Aizawa (Level 4, Stage 1): Welcome! I didn't expect another newcomer to join so soon.]
[Adele (Level 3, Stage 8): Welcome! Wow, it's so soon after the last batch.]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): Welcome to the group.]
[Risa Shiramine (Level 1, Stage 2): Hello, everyone! I'm Risa Shiramine. It's nice to meet you all. Please take care of me moving forward.]
[Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 1): Risa, you really made it into the group! Yay!]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): Oh, that's why your name sounded familiar—you're Maple's friend! I remember seeing you in the memory footage.]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): But this situation feels like it came from using a designated invitation card. Isn't the one in the store still on cooldown?]
[Risa Shiramine (Level 1, Stage 2): Yes! Kaede invited me in.]
[Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 1): Hehe, I got a designated invitation card from the high-tier lottery. Screenshot.jpg]
Kaede shared a screenshot of her high-tier ten-draw results in the chat group, sparking a reaction far beyond what her previous low-tier draw results had caused.
In short, the group members were utterly bewildered.
When they were still waiting for the monthly designated invitation card competition, someone else casually obtained one by spending just 10,000 points.
The shock caused by the designated invitation card made the group members overlook the other items in Kaede Honjou's high-tier ten-draw.
Although the designated invitation card's value was marked at only one million points, its rarity far exceeded that figure—it was a scarce commodity.
Even more importantly, they didn't recognize the Nine-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan, so they had no idea of its level or significance. Only Eriri and Arifureta understood its true value, though they didn't comment further.
In short, the chat group was once again flooded with a cascade of question marks, each representing the group members' collective bewilderment.
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): ???]
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): You can get a designated invitation card through the lottery?]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): Yes, the lottery can indeed yield designated invitation cards. However, only high-tier lotteries have the chance, and the probability is extraordinarily low. For instance, even if Ruri-chan were to draw another billion times, she might still not get one.
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): The fact that Maple could obtain one just shows how incredibly lucky she is.]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): But compared to me, she's still slightly lacking. Do you believe me if I say that if I were to do a single high-tier ten-draw, I'd get ten designated invitation cards? Smile.jpg]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): ???]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): Should I leave now?]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): That's not luck—that's being the GM.]
The group members, of course, knew that Little Skirt was entirely deferential to Eriri's wishes. She didn't even need designated invitation cards to bring someone into the group; Luo Hao and Myne were prime examples.
Still, when it came to luck, Eriri's naturally surpassed Kaede Honjou's. After all, she was beloved by all of existence across the myriad worlds.
[Adele (Level 3, Stage 8): That's just incredible. I had imagined what it might look like if Maple did a high-tier draw, but this is absurd.]
Lying on the bed in her inn room, Mile (Adele) stared at Kaede Honjou's screenshot with envy.
Though she had over 300,000 points, she had already tried the lottery. After 100 low-tier draws and ten mid-tier draws, she gave up entirely because she didn't get anything worthwhile. Those 20,000 points were essentially wasted.
[Kiss-Shot (Level 6, Stage 2): Truly astonishing. I've also done high-tier draws, but I've never gotten anything good.]
[Kanae Kocho (Level 5, Stage 9): By the way, why are Eriri's clothes, specifically her personal ones, even in the lottery pool? And it's explicitly marked as Little Skirt's personal collection?]
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): Exactly! I'm also curious. If it's part of a collection, shouldn't it be unobtainable?]
[System Notification: Due to operational error, all items related to "Onee-sama" have been hidden. The lottery system will no longer allow them to be drawn.]
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): What a pity. I was hoping to draw some of Onee-sama's used items to keep as collectibles.]
