Chapter 464: Chapter 464: The Frustrated Legendary Assassin
"Clang!" A piercing metallic clash rang out as the legendary assassin, Lord Charva, dressed in black light armor and a black cloak, looked in shock at the massive figure before him. His mind was momentarily dazed.
He couldn't understand why a mage, whose spellcasting ability was so formidable, would transform into such a towering giant in the blink of an eye. And what was that weapon? Why couldn't his death scythe, infused with Netherworld Obsidian, cut through it? It didn't make sense.
"What kind of weapon is this?" The momentary lapse in concentration gave the legendary assassin Lord Charva's opponent an opening. A hammer, as massive as a fortress, struck him, sending him flying.
Like the meteors crashing down through the storm clouds enveloping the entire city, the sound of shattering bones was so dense only Lord Charva himself could hear it. The legendary assassin, who had remained hidden and unnamed, was sent flying, friction with the atmosphere causing flames to appear, making him look like a meteor crashing to the ground.
"After all this time, I finally get to use this." Muria, who had reverted to his original form just before the scythe could strike, wielded his Doomsday Staff like a war hammer to smash the legendary assassin. He sighed with satisfaction.
When Muria forged the Doomsday Staff, he had considered using it as a melee weapon in critical moments. In terms of hardness alone, his staff was not inferior to any weapon and could certainly be used as a war hammer. However, he had never encountered a "critical moment."
Even this time, Muria had the opportunity to use other specialized weapons, but for the thrill of it, he used his staff as a war hammer.
"It feels good!" Muria instinctively touched his waist. After reverting to his true form, the scythe intended for his head had struck the Starlight Emperor's Abyss armor that was almost integrated with his scales.
Although it didn't hurt him, the legendary strike made Muria's muscles in that area feel a bit sore and numb. It was clear that without the legendary armor's protection, his waist would have been cut.
"The Charva family has a second hidden legend. Bold move." As Muria hammered away the legendary assassin, the ancient gold dragon, who had noticed the attack simultaneously, extended his dragon claws in anger, trying to grab the assassin who had turned into a meteor.
But his claws grasped empty air. The "meteor" disappeared because the assassin had recovered from Muria's strike and slipped into the shadow realm.
"Such resilience and recovery ability, truly worthy of an assassin." Muria looked at the blood on the tip of his staff and sighed sincerely. His hammer blow was no lighter than a mountain crashing down. Any regular soul-level assassin would be nothing more than a puddle of mush.
"Damn it!" The legendary assassin Lord, hiding in the space between the shadow and material worlds, ground his teeth in anger. Despite his many trials and hardships, he couldn't keep his emotions stable this time.
Assassins are a high-attack, low-defense class. Not only was his attack ignored, but he also took a heavy hit. And now, his opponent was praising his resilience and recovery—this was clearly a new form of humiliation!
The creature before him, with dragon traits but resembling the Titans who had recently rampaged across the Nokian continent, bore no legendary aura.
In short, he was repelled by a being below legendary level. Worse, he hadn't even injured this disguised mage. If word got out, he would be a laughingstock.
"Lord Bastet, no need to be angry," Muria said nonchalantly. "He didn't hurt me. You handle the legendary one in the city; I'll deal with this hidden assassin."
"Your Highness, you..."
"Don't worry, I have a way to deal with him. Spatial abilities aren't unsolvable."
The ancient gold dragon hesitated, a fiery breath escaping his nostrils. But remembering the assassin couldn't pierce Muria's scales, he relaxed and flew towards the shattered defensive formations below.
A faint spatial ripple appeared. Under the suspicious gaze of the hidden assassin Lord, a vast demi-plane projection appeared behind Muria. A portal quickly formed, and armed giants and chromatic dragons emerged in orderly ranks.
"A demi-plane? Is he a legendary bloodline mage?" The assassin Lord watched in disbelief. A demi-plane was a hallmark of legendary spellcasters. Not all legendary mages had one, but anyone with one was definitely a legend.
"Go assist Lord Bastet. Don't let a single traitor escape, and be careful not to harm the city's residents."
After giving orders to his subordinates, Muria's golden eyes scanned the void around him, a confident smile playing on his lips.
This demeanor caused the legendary assassin lurking in the shadows to feel a pang of panic. He had a gut feeling that this unknown legendary bloodline mage might know his location.
As this thought crossed his mind, a brilliant golden beam shot towards him, making everything else seem dim. Even time seemed to slow.
"Impossible!" The pain of being pierced and torn once again flooded his mind, making the assassin Lord feel surreal. He had been discovered and injured without even seeing the attack. This was unfathomable.
"A weak assassin, another waste elevated to legend by external means." Muria grasped the golden lightning forming in his hand, condensing it into a spear—the Spear of Sundering.
Muria didn't have the ability to shatter space himself, but his weapon did. During his battles with the Horned Balor Demon, the demon had used spatial abilities to suppress him many times. After being beaten so often, Muria had devised some countermeasures.
"Come out, there's no need to hide. After being hit by my Spear of Sundering, you can't escape my attacks anymore." Muria looked at the blood dripping from his spear. "You've been marked by me."
