The Rise of German empire

Chapter 30: The Global Expansion and Military Ambitions

"Your Highness, you seem to have forgotten an important country," Carl said, smiling as he leaned over his desk.

Qin Tian looked up, surprised. "Oh?"

"The United States," Carl continued, his voice growing more serious. "It's the largest industrial power whose output has surpassed ours. With a population of over 90 million, perhaps even nearing 100 million, entering that market would bring us profits like we've never seen."

Qin Tian paused for a moment, absorbing Carl's words. "Indeed, the United States is a crucial market. If we succeed there, the profits could be extraordinary."

Qin Tian had been keeping a watchful eye on the global stage. The United States, despite still lagging behind Europe in some advanced technologies, was rapidly cementing its position as the industrial powerhouse of the world. Its manufacturing capabilities were unmatched, and its economic strength was already beginning to rival Europe's most powerful nations. The United States, with its expansive land, resources, and large population, had the perfect foundation to become the next global superpower.

For Qin Tian, however, this posed a potential threat. In an alternate timeline, the United States had emerged as a superpower after World War I, and he fully understood the implications of such a rise. If Germany were to lose the war, it would leave the United States to capitalize on Europe's destruction, further strengthening its global dominance. If Qin Tian had any hopes of ensuring Germany's future military dominance, he had to contend with this looming American behemoth. He could not allow the U.S. to grow unchallenged.

He turned to Carl. "Carl, we will not delay. The first round of our expansion starts immediately. The United States must be part of this plan. We need to make our move swiftly—by the second half of this year, I want us to be successfully established in these markets. Our allies, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy, will be our first targets. As a prince of Germany, my position should offer us certain advantages there."

Carl nodded, impressed by Qin Tian's foresight. The plan was ambitious but sound. The Triple Alliance was already in place, and with a strategic approach, Qin Tian could enter these markets with far less resistance. Italy, despite being a half-hearted ally, would still be open to partnerships with Germany, and Austria-Hungary, a firm ally, would be easy to penetrate. With both countries in play, the potential for profits was immense.

"And once we succeed in these territories, we'll set our sights on Britain and France," Qin Tian continued. "Their economies are advanced, and their populations are affluent. The market potential is vast. If we can make headway there, we'll secure the kind of profits that will fuel our entire expansion."

Carl looked thoughtful. "Yes, Your Highness. And if we can extend our reach to countries like Russia, Spain, and even South America after that, the profits will be astronomical. We'll not only control the European market but also have a foothold across the globe."

Qin Tian's eyes gleamed with determination. "Exactly. But let's not forget the importance of the United States. They are an emerging threat, and if we can enter their market before they become too powerful, we can gain significant leverage. We must also make sure that the profits from these markets are funneled back into Germany to strengthen our military capabilities."

"Indeed, Your Highness," Carl agreed. "We should also consider forming partnerships with local business tycoons in these foreign markets. Their support will be crucial in smoothing our entry into these regions. The local elites will help us navigate through any bureaucratic resistance and ensure our success."

Qin Tian smiled. "I knew I could count on you, Carl. Let's ensure we bring the necessary local partners into the fold. While we may have the name of the German Empire behind us, in some of these countries, it's not enough. The support of influential local figures will guarantee that we have a strong foothold wherever we go."

"Yes, Your Highness. I will make the necessary arrangements." Carl nodded, his mind already racing with plans and strategies for the expansion.

With his attention now focused on the expansion of the Deutsche Welfare Lottery, Qin Tian knew that every step taken in this venture was crucial. The profits would not only secure his financial future, but they would also provide the resources he desperately needed to advance his greater ambitions. As the head of this operation, Carl was already proving himself invaluable.

"By the way, Carl," Qin Tian said, as an afterthought, "in addition to local alliances, we also need to ensure that we are working with the best manufacturers for our upcoming projects. I need to meet with Krupp tomorrow."

Carl raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Krupp, Your Highness? That's a significant name to work with. They dominate the German industrial landscape."

Qin Tian nodded. "Yes, Krupp's expertise in weapons, steel, and shipbuilding will be crucial for our military ventures. The 'Nassau-class' battleship is just the beginning. I plan on enhancing Germany's military strength, and we'll need Krupp's support to ensure that our ships, weapons, and armor are up to the task."

The "Nassau-class" battleship was the first major step Qin Tian had taken towards revolutionizing the German Navy. He had already invested heavily in the Deutsche Shipyard, pushing for the construction of advanced battleships that would surpass anything the navy currently possessed. The shipyard had started expanding, recruiting more workers, and setting up new slipways. Under the leadership of Brutt, former Germania shipyard executive, they were moving quickly to bring the "Nassau-class" battleships to life.

But challenges remained. The power source for the battleships, steam turbines, was an issue. Brutt had already begun making inquiries in the United States, where the Curtis single-stage steam turbine seemed like the best option for the design. The British technology, particularly the Parsons steam turbine, was out of the question—Germany could not afford to rely on British technologies.

Armor and artillery were other critical issues. To arm the "Nassau-class" with 305mm guns capable of delivering powerful armor-piercing fire, Krupp's involvement was non-negotiable. Their expertise in heavy artillery and armor technology made them the only viable partner for this project.

"Get in touch with Krupp as soon as possible, Carl," Qin Tian instructed. "We need to finalize these arrangements and ensure that the "Nassau-class" battleship becomes a reality. This is just the beginning."

Carl nodded again. "I will make the arrangements, Your Highness."

The stakes had never been higher. The success of Deutsche Welfare Lottery would provide the financial backing necessary for all of Qin Tian's future endeavors. And with the construction of the new battleships, Germany's military might was about to receive a much-needed upgrade.

As Qin Tian sat back in his chair, looking out over the city, he knew the road ahead would be full of challenges. But with his vision, the right alliances, and the financial resources at his disposal, he was confident that Germany's destiny could be reshaped—and that he would play a crucial role in that transformation.
