Chapter 11: Ch 11
As I regained consciousness, I thought, What happened? Why was I suddenly thrown out of the trial?
"Well, anyway, it's a happy occasion that I'm free from that place," I muttered.
As I tried to look around, my vision blurred into a bright red haze, and sound assaulted my ears. When I tried to speak, the only sound that came out was a cry.
The muffled voices grew clearer, and I made out:
"Congratulations, sir and madam, he's a healthy boy."
Wait.
I guess I should normally be thinking something along the lines of, Was I just born? Am I a baby now? But strangely, the only thought that popped into my mind was, Did I really escape that place?
Haha… let's not think about that place anymore.
Assessing my situation rationally, I noticed that, first of all, wherever I was, I could understand the language. That was always a good sign.
Next, after slowly and painfully opening my eyes, my retinas were bombarded with different colors and shapes. It took a bit of time for my infant eyes to adjust to the light.
The doctor—or so it seemed—standing in front of me had a less-than-appealing face with long, greying hair on both his head and chin. I swear his glasses were thick enough to be bulletproof.
I looked around and saw the woman who had just pushed me out of her tunnel. Calling her "mother" seemed fair.
Taking a few more seconds to examine her, I had to admit she was a beauty, though that might have been due to my half-blurry vision. Rather than glamorous, I would describe her as lovely, in a kind and gentle way, with distinct auburn hair and brown eyes.
In my previous life, I never had parents. It was my aunt who raised me and my sibling.
While several thoughts were roaming through my mind, I didn't forget the last reward I had received from the trial.
*System,* I called out in my mind.
Suddenly, a strange panel appeared before me.
---
**Name**: [----] (Not given)

**Title**: "Heir of Black Space" (Partial)—Allows the user to have absolute control over the void element. Since the title is incomplete, the user can only reach out to the void. Be cautious, the void element is the most dangerous in existence.
**Stats**: Strength (1), Vitality (1), Agility (1), Intelligence (5)
**Traits**:
- *Telekinesis (Level 1)*: Allows the user to control and move matter (up to 100 kg) and soul energy.

- *System (Max Level)*: A personal AI that helps the user make the best decisions for any situation, provides descriptive data of stats, issues quests, and grants rewards for completing quests. In case of failure, penalties will be applied to the host.
---
So, these are my stats, and this system is my personal AI. Well, it's quite helpful.
"Well, system, what happened? Why was I suddenly thrown out of the trial?"
But I didn't receive an answer. Instead, a window popped up in front of my eyes.
---
**Trait System is being used**
**Quest issued**: Drink mother's milk for the first time.
**Reward**: +1 to all stats
**Failure**: Frail body and weak physique
---
As expected of the system, it won't give any answers beyond the intended question, just like the voice in the blank space. I'll think about everything else later. Let's first complete the quest.
With a quest in mind, I started crying as loudly as I could.
"Wha... wha… wha…"
"It seems the child is hungry," the doctor said to the woman lying on the bed—my mother.
She looked at me with gentle eyes, a small smile forming on her face. She extended her hands toward me.
The doctor, understanding her gesture, handed me to her.
As I settled into my mother's protective arms, all my worries and thoughts faded away. Suddenly, the door to the room burst open.
Thud.
"Where is he? Where is my child?" a man said as he entered the room.
The man was dressed in the rugged clothes of a worker and had a long beard and mustache. He looked like a bodybuilder.
"He's right here, and perfectly healthy," the doctor replied.
The man looked at me. I guess he's my father, I thought.
Suddenly, the man spoke in an enthusiastic tone, "Alexander, look! Didn't I promise you a little brother?"
A small figure peeked out from behind the man. He seemed around eight or nine years old.
"Is he my little brother?" the boy asked, looking at me with puppy-dog eyes.
---
As Alexander gazed at the small boy in his mother's arms, he felt conflicted.
He was conflicted because he feared he would no longer receive the same love and attention as before. It had started around nine months ago when his mother and father began giving him less attention. When he asked his father why they were treating him differently, wondering if he had done something wrong, his father said, "You're going to have a little brother soon, and when he arrives, it will be your responsibility to take care of him and protect him from danger."
"So promise me, promise me that you'll take care of your little brother."
"I promise, Father."
Remembering his words, Alexander looked at the baby lying in his mother's arms. He gently poked the baby with his small finger.
As he poked him, the baby started to cry.
"Wha… wha… wha…"
"What happened? Why is little bro crying?" Alexander asked his father, worried.
"Hahaha, he's just hungry. Let's go outside," his father responded.
"If he's hungry, he can have my chocolate," Alexander said, pulling a piece of chocolate from his pocket as if he were offering the world's greatest treasure.
He extended it toward the baby.
"Well, he can't eat this right now," Mother said with a slight smile, seeing her eldest son take care of her youngest.
Her heart filled with happiness.
