Chapter 2: Ch 2 - Hel
"Ehh?..."
When Seph realized it, he was already there.
A desolate space.
Ruins standing like ghosts.
A world of desolation and death that continued on forever.
The sky was covered with a reddish glow while dark metallic chains covered the sky like dragons.
Seph had no idea where this place was. But one thing is absolutely certain, this is a place different from Earth.
"You are still confused?"
A sonorous and charming voice came from the side.
Seph turned his head and looked at Hel.
A few minutes prior...
'Umm... what is this heavy feeling on my chest? Does everyone feel like this when they die...? Maybe, it is because of how many sins I have committed...'
Seph was feeling like he was floating in an empty space like a wandering soul when something was placed on his chest. And even though he had died, it was almost suffocating him for some reason.
"Wake up, you human child~!"
Just then a melodious womanly voice echoed in his ears startling him.
'Heh?... Did I just... hallucinate for a woman's voice?'
Seph asked to himself.
*Bam!*
"You're not dreaming it. Just wake up!"
A crispy slap landed on his cheek, jolting him awake followed by the same voice.
His eyes met the face of a beautiful woman who was sitting on him.
Jet-black hair as shimmering as the night sky, eyes so well-defined that they could be mistaken for carvings, a perfect body with not a single flaw, eyes so deep red that they seemed to absorb the viewer. It was as if she had absorbed every spark of life that once existed in the world... a beauty that would not have been possible otherwise.
The woman's voice is just as beautiful as her appearance, and she whispers happily with a bright smile on her face.
"Finally, you're awake~"
"Eh... Ah... Umm… Eh…?" Seph stuttered, speechless about his situation. He couldn't make head or tail of the situation at all.
'Who is she? What is this place...? Where am I?... How am I still alive?"
The woman raised her slender hand and grabbed his face, opening his eyes wide.
"Hmmm... interesting. Very interesting! It has merged with your soul... What a turn of events?"
"Ehhhh?" Seph cried out in horror.
*Bam*
"Calm down! Jeez! You're so darn loud... You still have a chance to live..." The woman slapped him on his forehead and complained, her brows furrowed.
She looked annoyed as she whispered softly. "I saw the shadow of a person after eons and the first one I met is such a weak human... Fate is such a bitch! Why did that thing fall into his hands...?"
The beautiful woman sighed and stood up, waving her slender wrist.
Seph was gripped by a mysterious force and was pulled up, standing in front of her.
The woman raised her hand and said. "Before you ask 'What is going on?', let me answer that question for you. You haven't died yet and also this place is not your home place."
'How can I be alive after getting struck by that?'
"It's because I pulled you into this place before that little bolt of thunder can strike you..."
"Ehh? D-Did... did you just..." Seph was startled by her words, asking with wide eyes.
"Read your mind... That's just a childish trick. I can even tell you the most darkest secret of your life." The woman giggled and looked at him playfully.
"W-Who are you...?" Seph asked, stuttering in fear.
The beautiful woman caressed his face with her long and smooth fingers, giggling. "My name, hmm... let me remember... it had been eons since someone asked me my name. Well, let's see... you can call me Hel."
Seph was at a loss for words due to the countless questions that were stuck in my head.
Seeing him like this, the woman giggled...
"Oh my, you are still confused? Then let's do some walking and talking. This is... a bit of a bleak place, you see."
Hel walked away somewhat happily after saying that.
Naturally, Seph was lost. Should he go with such an incomprehensible person? Or...
But it's true that there's nothing else he could do… No, but still…
Seph pondered this question for some time until finally, he ran up to her. He followed behind the woman while keeping his distance.
"Umu, umu, that's good. I like obedient children!"
After all, the woman seemed to be in a very good mood. It seems that the woman was not going to be eclipsed anytime soon.
"So, Seph. I'm sure you have something you want to ask me, don't you? In that case, don't hesitate to ask! Come on, come on, come on, come on!"
"Um…... so… This is another world… It's a place like that, isn't it?"
Seph was in such confusion that he couldn't help but ask a stupid question.
But Hel answered cheerfully.
"Hmmm, you are a very bright boy to notice that! Yes, this is a different place from your world! No one is allowed to enter this place, you know... But you're such a fool that you are able to enter here..."
"B-B... But why?" Seph mumbled.
'Why is no one allowed to enter here?'
"It's because I'm being sealed here. Those who sealed me back then don't want anyone to know about my existence." The woman replied nonchalantly.
Seph was quite surprised by her frankness and asked. "What are you...?"
"Someone who can save your life!..." Hel replied calmly.
The moment Seph heard that a chill ran down his spine. He didn't know why but a bad feeling arose in his heart instantly.
To be honest, Seph doesn't really feel it when someone says something like that.
The beautiful smile in front of me showed no hostility or malice at all. But at the same time, it didn't look like she was joking.
Hel smiled sweetly and pinched his cheek. "You are such a naughty boy. Didn't someone teach you that everything in this world is not for consumption?"
Seph was dumbfounded, lost in thoughts on what she was talking about when it hit him. "Are you talking about that crystal?!"
"Hahaha... Crystal? Do you think that was some ornament or something like that?" Hel raised an eyebrow and asked with a playful smile.
"Ha ha ha... T-Then..." Seph gulped down his saliva in fear and asked, laughing dryly.
Hel stopped in her tracks and stared straight at Seph's face with her brows furrowed and her eyes revealing complicated emotions.
She took a deep breath and said. "It was a drop of my blood!"
"Your... blood?" Seph was dumbfounded by her revelation. He thought it might be something much more dangerous but it was just her blood.
Hel chuckled with a mysterious yet scary smile as she said. "Little fellow, I am the creature that symbolizes Decay, Despair, Death, Destruction! My blood does not only hold my bloodline but also my powers!... Even though for some weird reason, my blood has been assimilated into your body, becoming one with you but your mortal body cannot hold my powers on its own. You must have already experienced it already."
Seph thought about the moment before the lightning almost fell on him, how his body lost all form of senses, unable to move at all.
"Now, you've two choices; either you can accept your fate and die. Or... I will personally train you to the level where you can handle my powers!"
Seph listened to her words and his facial muscles twitched since technically, he had no choice rather than getting trained by her.
"Good boy~" Hel giggled and patted her head.
