The misunderstood genius

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Duel Begins

The duel was held in the Grand Arena. Thousands of students watched, eager to witness a legendary battle.

Darian smirked, brandishing his sword infused with dragonfire magic. "I'll make this quick."

Joe, armed with nothing, just raised his hands in surrender.

But to the audience, it looked completely different.

"Look at his stance… completely relaxed! He's mocking Darian!"

"He's so confident, he doesn't even need a weapon!"

Darian, enraged, unleashed his strongest spell—a raging Dragonflame Slash. The firestorm surged toward Joe.

Joe, in sheer panic, tripped on his own feet.

What happened next shocked the world.

As Joe fell, he instinctively waved his hands to balance himself—accidentally casting a wind spell that completely redirected Darian's attack into the sky.

The flames exploded in the clouds, raining harmless embers over the arena.

The crowd erupted.

"DID HE JUST DEFLECT A DRAGONFLAME SLASH?!"

"He didn't even cast a spell! He just waved his hand!!"

Darian stood there, stunned.

Joe sat up, dazed. "Wait… did I win?"

Celestia smirked. "Yes, you did."

And so, Joe Hoeyol's legend only grew larger.
